Berbatov

if this is true it could really be the trigger for Berbatov coming to United.

Fergie's friday press conference is due in the next hour.

Lets hope he gives us some positive news during that.

Fergie will avoid all questions on Berbatov unless they are given the nod from Spurs beforehand.

We know what Levy is like. The slightest mention of his name and he'd have a fit.

Doubt it.

Not in time to register for this weekend's game anyway. Which means the stand-off will almost certainly continue until next Thursday.

Ho hum.

We have until 5pm, if the Premier League allow it, which they can.

Spurs would also have to announce any official deal to the stock exchange before the close of business today.

Even if we did land him today, I have my doubts he'd play on Sunday anyway. Maybe on the bench at the very most.

Until 5pm?

That's like 6 hours to conclude the whole thing, including the medical and a press conference. Seems far off. Still it'll be nice to get him in the bag as soon as possible and stop all these shite.

Berbatov 9 - are you going to answer this?

I was confident enough to choose the name when registering that he'd sign for us.

If a disaster happens and it falls through, then I'll be someone for the museum of transfers that never was :p

5pm is just to get the paperwork to the Premier League.

We could definitely squeeze in the medical in that time.

Press conference could follow next week.

I wonder why SAF is not interested in Andrei Arshavin. I mean do we always have to wait for them to be a success at our feeder club (spurs) before we sign them for a massively inflated price! Next 2 will be Bentley and Ass Shaving. Watch this space....

Seriously though when is this Berbatov deal going to go through, Christ its like the Tevez saga all over again.

It's because he's, IMHO, massively overrated, unproven, and potentially quite lightweight for this leage. Added to that you have to question his mentality if he is only bringing himself to the fore at 27.

We signed Tevez on a Friday before the opening day of the season.

Arshavin isn't that good, especially watching the top 4 in England hasn't taken an interest in him.

Bentley will never play for United.

Barcelona have taken interest in him though, which goes to show that he does get some worldwide recognition.

I get the feeling that for some people playing well in the tournament means that you're a game raiser and a very poor player indeed. What Arshavin did at Euros was proving his value! IT'S NOT A CRIME TO PLAY WELL!

Nothing concrete though. They're certainly not as keen as Spurs.

They were put off by his price-tag, just as Tottenham are. They turned to Hleb, Tottenham don't look like they have any other option.

Leading Zenit to an European triumph is not really an achievement, is it?

What, ten odd games in a pretty weak competiton make you quality? Btw, you will note they beat Rangers in the final. That says it all, no?

Not when that "triumph" is the UEFA cup, no.

It's still a good competition that nobody should undermine. They had to beat Marseille, Villarreal and Bayern Munich on their way, teams that are by no means poor. It's not like Arshavin had had any bigger stage to show off?

That surely doesn't show that a certain player is shite. Just because Arshavin doesn't play for United doesn't suddenly mean that he's average. Ten odd games is a pretty good measure for a player for whom those ten games were the biggest stage.

I think it was rather more of the player wanting to go to Barca than the other way round. He was making all the right noises wanting to go there. But true, perhaps the valuation of him did put buyers off a little.

So far he has played in the Russian league, the UEFA Cup and the European Championship. He played very well in all. He didn't have an opportunity to do the same at any other level. That doesn't make him a poor player.

I don't think anyone is calling him a poor player.

Un-proven, over-rated, over-priced and possibly a bit lightweight, yes.

Poor, no.

think many share my view, he hasnt shown that hes top drawer. In fact in final game at euros he went missing badly

Unproven? What the hell, he has proven himself at every level he has played on!

Overrated? I don't see people mentioning him among world's best players. All I see is people who rate him as a very good player who could possibly do the job for a top club. And that may be a correct opinion.

Overpriced? Definitely, it's not his fault though.

Lightweight? I've seen players of smaller frame make it in the league.

Wtf are you on about? I've not said he's shit, I've said he's overrated. You're the one talking about playing for United etc. He was good in the UEFA, and had two good games in the Euros. If that's worthy of a huge move, the football is a bit of a sham. And if you think the UEFA Cup is the biggest stage, then you clearly haven't watched it.

All right, there's no football beyond Premiership. Unless you're Premiership proven, you're not worth a pence.

Now you're just being silly.

I think you'll find there are some excellent teams in Spain, Italy, France and Germany. They play in the Champion's League. That's where almost all the best footballers in Europe ply their trade.

Arshavin might play in that competition one day. But I doubt it.

The whole Russia team was poor. It happens. If you dug into Zidane's past, you would find plenty of games like that. Same goes for Ronaldo. It's just the way it is, sometimes things just don't go your way.

Both Sweden and Holland games were very important too and he produced magnificent performances in both. In the UEFA Cup he always lived up to expectations in decisive moments.

Not his fault that he hasn't played in CL yet.
