I love watching Maouassa play, have Monaco been linked with him? That's the first I've heard of that, but you just got me very excited. I hope they can seal the deal in that case.

I heard about a list of players Monaco were looking at and he was among them I don't know how strong the link is though Lyon, Marseille and Lille are linked too. That's when I remembered that Benasser was a Monaco loanee and he was pretty good for Nancy.

It's a shame it looks we're missing out on him. Really think we need a LB this summer, it's been a problem position for us for years. We can't rely on Shaw being fit and what not, we need to be challenging next season, we can't wait around for passengers. Cheeky bid for Sandro?

I think we should focus on Sessegnon if we miss out on Mendy.

Alex Sandro? Juve are a well run club unfortunately :D

Would he be ready? Still very young.
We'd probably be better off going for him next year but apparently quite a few clubs have been looking at buying him this summer.

He arrived in Paris and tomorrow he'll be in Clairefontaine with Pogba because he's called with the french NT ( game against Paraguay Friday ) :)

Have we been linked with anyone reputable? Or mildly reputable? I'll take anything at this point.

The French equivalent of Di Marzio (whose name I can't spell) said we are interested. I doubt he'll end up anywhere other than City though.

Cheers. There's a glimmer of hope then. We've got a good French contingent too.

If they get Mendy they'll probably have the 2 best crossers in the league with De Bruyne there too.

I'd love us to get Mendy. Personally I think it'd be a very good summer if we get the players we're currently linked with (Mendy, James, Morata) and a DM while keeping DDG. That be great improvement on the whole core of the team.

Mendy is worth £40m. We should be paying that.

Worrying that we haven't been linked with him as much lately. He is exactly what we need at left back.

40m is quite a lot for a LB. City paid the same for a #10. Last time we paid a lot for a LB we got burned. So I can understand a bit of hesitation. Would still love to have him, mind you.

Liverpool are about to spend 60m on VVD. Would you say VVD is a better CB than Mendy is a LB?

It's just the way the market is now. We got burned on Shaw because he was never worth the money. Mendy is.

I'll believe that when I see it. No way are they spending 2/3s of their budget on a CB, nvm a non-English one and from Soton.

I don't think the market is as crazy as people think. People were talking Silva for 60m and City got him for 43m. Not every player will you pay over the odds for.

He's more than worth £40m to us.
We are shit in fullback positions.

Considering we're desperate for a first choice left back and one of genuine quality I think we'd be crazy not to pay £40 million for Mendy seeing as we paid £30 million for Shaw who's second choice right now to a right back (Darmian) being forced to play at left back due to our poor options.

City have just spent nearly £90 million on Silva and Ederson so another £40 million on Mendy would probably take them close to budget already seeing as they're apparently looking for a centre back and a midfielder too, we've not had a genuine quality left back who can attack and cross really well since Evra and Mendy reminds me a lot of Evra so unless we're going to sign Sessegnon and build him for the role with Shaw as first choice we should spend £40 million on Mendy.

We don't appear to be in the market for a fullback. Looks like we're prioritizing other areas.
The big questions is, why the feck aren't we in for him supposedly?

According to? If we are to believe reports and rumours we're in for half the world... I could even start a rumour we're in for me as a striker

I hate all this just as much as the next guy, but we know jack shit and we'll just have to wait and see. By looking at our squad we should be looking at Mendy and Fabinho... so who knows?

£40m is definitely worth it for someone with the potential to be one of the elite wing backs of the next 5 years. If we can get Valencia and Mendy down the flanks, even if the attacking signings are mediocre.. we'll be so tough to beat and a real threat on the counter.

I know it's 40 million but with age and everything into consideration....Mendy would be a fantastic asset to this side especially If we are looking at signing a number 9 with his crossing ability...

Buying Mendy for 40mil shouldnt even affect our transfer budget, considering how improved our football on the left will be. Him and Fabinho, together with Morata and James. All realistic targets.

Still confident Mendy will be in a City shirt next year for some reason, along with bertrand if he comes in too.

Would pay the 40m for him in a heartbeat. All our left backs are mid table level at best. If people really don't want to give up on Shaw, then just keep him on as a squad player if he ever decides to buckle down and make a career here, but until then, he'll never amount to anything. Darmian is decent and has done well, but doesn't offer anything going forward. Blind is decent again, but lacks the physical attributes to ever be Mourinho's left back I think.
