Bebe

he is on a great run of form, they have picked up 4 wins and a draw in recent weeks and Bebe has scored in all 5 games. he is starting every game (after some on the bench) and has pretty much played every minute in the last two months (9 games).

6 goals in 9 games, has taken him to the top 10 goal scorers and he is now only 2 behind being in the top 5.

Bebe is their star man at the moment and this is great news for us, we could very well end up recouping £3m-£5m of that insane transfer fee we paid for him, can see a top 10 club in Portugal wanting him if this continues.

Getting £5 million back would be great at this point and setting Bebe up for a good career in Portugal. His current side are 3rd from Bottom so likely to be relegated, so he's going to need the goals to keep coming to attract a good liga sagres side.

Bebe won't make it here, I don't think, but he'll be signed by a club of the stature of Porto etc.

I think he'll be a success wherever he goes, but sadly I don't think he'll make it here, as much as I want him to.

He's always had a good shot according to everyone, think a few years back one of our players said he had the most powerful shot in training. Too bad he doesn't really know how to do anything with the ball...
Also to whoever said he has great technique... not at all. He has a good shooting technique, but that's about it. And there's a huge gap between the bottom of the portuguese league and Porto/Benfica. Probably the biggest gap in all the leagues really between the top and bottom teams. Bebe might make it as just an average player there but he'll never be premier league standard or anything, the deal still confuses the feck out of me when I think about it. 7m to someone who seems like he's played nothing but a few games in a sunday league, I mean he looked like an amateur at times at United.
Doubt he gives a shit though, he already received his big pay day.

Oh really? It has nothing on other leagues, how often you see a 4+ score in Portugal in one of the big three matches? Unlike Spain, Germany or even England.

Obviously you know way more about it then I do, but the impression that I always got was that apart from the few top teams which are all at a pretty high level, the rest are far, far away from them. I'll take your word for it if that's not the case, just what I always heard really! Anyways, I meant more that there's a larger gap between like the top 6 teams and the bottom 6 teams in Portugal, or that the bottom teams are much worse. I'm not sure if I'm saying what I want to say properly here, but like, put it this way... I always saw the Portuguese league sort of on par with the French league, or slightly below it. While the top teams were usually pretty similar before PSG took over, I feel like your average French team is far better then the average Portuguese team.
Or like, take away the top 3 teams or so from all the top leagues, most of them would still be good, while I don't think you could say that for Liga Sagres.

I'd say you're right about the average, I think there's no discussion on that. Beyond the top 3 and occasional 4th like Braga, Boavista (who don't tend to keep that status for long) the remainder of the clubs can't even get out of an Europa League group. Was thinking purely in terms of gap between top and bottom, and neither are our top teams are nearly that strong, nor are the bottom that weak. It's not often we can confirm it, but I don't think, based on pre-season friendlies, etc, that our bottoms teams would fare that badly. You had a super-Porto far above anyone else biasing that for a few years, but you look at it now and look how many points Benfica, who are clear leaders, already lost. There's some skillful players everywhere. Not much money for these teams to go on, but plenty of good footballers, relatively speaking, namely Portuguese, Brazilian, and other South Americans who want to ply their trade here.

So now some think he can be a squad player here? Seriously?

I think there's good talent there, quite possibly United level talent. But the chances of making him a United player were never high considering the fact he's a very late developer (or very late coming into organized football at this level) and the year he lost to injury turned slim chances into none, probably.

Apparantly we had a scout have a look at him yesterday & probably only for the line i've highlighted:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Manchester United sent scout to watch impressive Bebe - he wants return!

There's a 23 year old forward in Portugal impressing at the moment. On Sunday he scored a fantastic goal, one of two, to lead his team to a 3-1 victory. He's been playing well lately and in his last 10 games has scored 7 goals. Despite playing for 14th placed Paços de Ferreira, he's only a goal behind Benfica's Rodrigo in the Portuguese scoring charts, and Rodrigo was bought by a third party investment firm for €30m in January.

Manchester United are interested, O Jogo say they sent someone to watch the footballer in action against Arouca on Sunday. It's all quite exciting until the player's name is revealed... Bebe.

There's no point going over Bebe's perceived failings again and the mess surrounding the way Manchester United bought him, and the reasons for the transfer. Bebe's card is well truly marked and that's as a Manchester United failure. There seems little chance that he could make it at the Premier League club.

Bebe has a contract at Manchester United until June 2015 and the club could be watching him to see whether they could get a transfer fee this summer. However, he'd like a return to England "I still hope to return to Manchester United, I've got one more year left on my contract but nobody from the club has spoken to me."

The young footballer has gone someway to proving that he's not a joke but it's unlikely to change perception. Should Manchester United get a reasonable fee in the summer then it'd go some way to letting him get on with the rest of his career. However, Bebe is likely to find it difficult to get a Portuguese team to match his Manchester United wages.

I've always said that Bebe was a couple of years younger people would be much more understanding, and when you consider his lack of development and his messed up childhood he's bound to be at least a couple of years behind his peers.

He sure has raw potential but he'll be 24 at the end of this season, I just don't think he'll ever get anywhere close to fulfilling his potential.

Would be interesting to see if he could hack in the Championship maybe but I suspect he'll end up back in Portugal.

Last season he said he wanted to remain in Portugal because he didnt feel supported by United. Now he wants to come back.

Really good to see him doing well in Portugal. Hopefully, he stays injury-free and manages to make a decent career. Does anyone else think that he could get a run of games in our next pre-season tour?

I hope so. With all the players out on World Cup duty, there's a chance for him to get some game time and state his case to Moyes. I've always championed him, and it's good to see him doing well in Portugal, I hope his goal scoring rate can continue.

Imagine he came back and played like Ronnie, leading us to next years title .

Ah God, it's probably our best hope....

pleased he is doing well - took so much unnecessary abuse from idiots saying he was a sunday league player etc

Didn't we loan him to Beskitas with a 1 million buy-out clause? Show's how much we believed in him.
Mame Diouf is/was also doing alright in Bundesliga :wenger:

Think he admitted himself he took his time here for granted. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...-or-understand-a-word-Alex-Ferguson-said.html

And he pretty much pissed around in Nightclubs at Bestikas when he was injured as well.

He was handed a grant chance and pissed it away, but sounds like he's getting himself back on track.

Bebe will single handedly prevent Paços from getting relegated. I think he could be useful to a team like Braga or even my team Sporting (he´s better than Wilson Eduardo that´s for sure)

I'm glad the lad is doing well. The raw physical attributes and potential was always there.

Just read somewhere that all of our midfielders(and wingers) have less goals combined than Bebe this season. What a depressing stat.

He would have been a beast if he had the chance to get a proper footballing education from a young age.

He has always had a brilliant physical presence and good pace. Pity that he wasn't at a good academy from an early age. Seems to be coming good now but I feel his future won't lie here.
