Bebe

8 goals in 17 starts from what I guess is mostly a wide forward position in an okay league. At this point I think the mockery should stop, we've definitely had much worse players, even if the deal remains murky as all hell.

edit: Slightly less seriously, 7 in his last 10...get him on the plane.

What annoys me is people saying he doesn't have technique worth squat as he obviously has a pretty decent first touch, can dribble and also run with the ball. His shot is also powerful as feck. Furthermore, he's damn rapid - arguably would be our fastest player over a distance, which we need. I would like to see him in the squad next season and get rid of Young. I would still get a Reus type of character as Bebe could be no more than a squad player, at least not at this stage.

Football fans seem to form opinions on player and then not shift that view even after a lengthy period of time. If Redknapp or Souness came out tomorrow and said Bebe is world class, I'm sure a few would pipe up and claim they saw it in him.

I'd love to see him make it here, but I can't see it. I do think he'll go on to have a good career somewhere though, just at a lower level (or maybe a lower top division club somewhere).

We have enough of those as it is and there isn't really a lot of difference. A squad player should be challenging those in possession and have the potential to be a first team regular.

Exactly. Nobody is expecting him to be a first teamer at first, but that he might contribute still and perhaps be a first teamer in the future, although doubtful. We aren't overstocked on wingers anymore.

I'd be shocked if he's not sold in the summer. A few good goals don't suddenly make him a first teamer at United.

No, but it makes him a lot better than some of the ridiculous opinions people have of him. I bet there'll still be some gobshite who at some point in the next few weeks will casually claim Bebe is the worst player he's ever seen.

football wise being a late developer, someone like bebe has more room for improvement than similarly aged players so he might still surprise few of us

Honestly, of the two wide forwards we signed for a combined 10 million around that time, I'd say the homeless was better than the alien.

We are stocked with players who can play wide and he isn't really a winger either.

Young has been shite for a while, Valencia hasn't set the world alight and Nani's been injured. Januzaj is still young and learning. What other wide players do we have? Kagawa and Mata should play behind the striker - they are less of a winger than Bebe is. I'm not saying he's world class, but he could be useful.

Well Mata and Welbeck can play wide, as can Kagawa. We also have Lingard who Moyes seems to be keeping an eye on, Zaha and possibly Wilson too who might be pushing on next year who can play as a wide forward.

You are still talking about players who CAN play out wide, but they are not wingers. Bebe is a striker who can play out wide, like Wilson. The other players are 10s who can play out wide, with the exception of Zaha.

With Hernandez set to leave, and perhaps RVP, we might need a bit of numbers up front also. Versatile players are handy. Welbeck isn't particularly good as a winger - much better as a striker, but he can put in a shift, which makes him handy.

I'm just assuming that we are moving away from traditional wide players.

I'd give him a chance. I'd have him above Zaha.

If it wasn't for a few bloody overhit crosses he wouldn't be percieved as a laughing stock. A few crosses..., seriously, it was nothing. He's gonna be a decent player for someone.

I think we are, but I also think that we might need a little bit of pace in the attack. Mata, Kagawa, Rooney and Januzaj are all good/excellent players, but we lack a little bit of pace, and thus we need wingers/attackers with pace also. Sometimes, not the best players are the best options.

That's how i'd hope us to utilise Wilson if/when we start blooding him. If we start playing narrower wide players, then Welbeck would thrive more too.

To be honest, I forgot about Wilson who is basically a younger more promising version of Bebe. Wilson looks to have bags of pace and great technique as well as being strong with a great shot. Is he promising enough to make it at senior levels?

I think so, but always hard to judge. He's still improving and got to mature physically, but has really come on this season and his game looks far more complete.

Isn't his physical attributes what sets him apart? I was thinking that perhaps his strength and pace were what makes him great for the U21 but may not be as impressive for the first team?

I hope he gets a good move this summer. He's clearly got some talent but he'd be wasting his career by staying here any longer. He's just not in the right place in his career to be a squad player here, even if he is good enough. Sticking around and playing 5, even 10 games a year will be no good to him. If he gets a good move and keeps improving he could make the national team, imo.

He's got raw potential. Some incredible technique but I don't know if he's good enough tactically. To pull off some really amazing goals, you need to have some fantastic technique. Remember that goal he scored in the reserves? That blew my mind.

In any case, if he can be a solid and consistent performer, we'll potentially have a decent squad player in our hands.

He seems to have good technique when volleying like this and the goal you are referring to. Rooney would be quite happy with those connections. However his technique in general is garbage. His technique in crossing is worse.

He could be a good player for a liga sagres team towards the top of the table but he doesn't have a hope here

when does his contract runout? He is the one player I never hope to see in a United shirt again. I don't care how good he looks in a preseason game in South Africa or some 2nd rate league.

So you wouldn't want us to sign anyone from Porto or Benfica then?
