Bebe | 2010/11 Performances

Bebe's a long term project so I'm not really putting much reliance on his early games for United.

He's clearly nowhere near ready for the first team though and he does not look much of a winger at all. His crossing is consistently awful.

I hope we loan out next season because it's difficult not to be frustrated by the type of performance Bebe and Obertan have put in tonight. If anything I'm more disappointed in Obertan as he should be on the fringes of the first team squad.

I can't believe how so many have made their minds up on Bebe already.

How is that even possible?

He wasn't even playing professional football 10 games ago. He's 20.

What would be the point in getting rid of him?

Some of the comments in the matchday thread are absolutely pathetic. No-one can argue he didn't have a poor game, but you lot are acting as if he's done this over a couple seasons. I can't understand how so many have made up their mind on him completely, especially given how time has shown so many as idiots in regards to leaping to such early conclusions on players ability...especially at the age of 20.

I don't know how many people are actually writing him off and I agree that you can't judge someone on just a handful of games, but I think the problem is that he has shown very, very little for us to get excited about while showing on a regular basis, a poor touch, a poor cross, a poor pass, running to nowhere and getting tackled, it's certainly not anything to get excited about.

If he's a fecking striker play him as a fecking striker!!!

I think the expectations of some of the caf folk are unrealistic and absurd. Given the time he's had and the games we've seen, it's completely beyond me how some are saying we should sell him in summer.

So why buy him?!!

He looked exhausted, did not track back and that left the full-backs exposed - very disappointing performance.

Some people are idiotic and think they know more than the manager does about player development. If I had an opinion that Andy Townshend shared, I'd look to re-evaluate it, quickly.

It might be that he hasn´t played much football earlier. But you would atleast like to see a little bit of talent/ability. But Bebe just shows nothing.. You have to realise, he is not United quality, and will never be. A complete waste of money..
Cleverley, Morrison, Welbeck and several others, could easily do a much better job than him..

For some reason I'm still hopeful with Bébé.

Obertan on the other hand......

He clearly has shown more then nothing though hasn't he? Not very much and not on a regular basis but to say he's shown absolutely nothing is ridiculous.

Completely agree, this is Bebes first season with us and also his first in the country so im willing to give him time. But with Obertan everything he has done this season is wrong! I dont like writing young players off but i see more hope with Bebe than Obertan

I write him off now. Gibson and Obertan too. I hope they come good, but I don't think it can happen.

If you write them off then i doubt you hope they can come good, that just doesn't make sense.

Gibson i don't think is going to have enough to be a first team regular for United but he could do a job as a squad man if he works on a couple of things.

Obertan i just don't know, i'm gonna give him till next season. He's extremely fast but just doesn't seem to know what to do when he gets the ball.

He is fecking brutal. That's why.

I'd rather his wages went on a kid who looks like he can play.

As usual, nobody can say anything negative about a United player. I have genuinely played football with better players than this chancer.

STFU Scholesy, seriously, Who dont you write off 'cept Modric, Delfuenso et al ? Seriously, you moan about posters giving you a hard time, but IMO, you fecking deserve it with your "views" which instead of seeming to be abstract which you perceive them to be are infact just plain non-sensical.

Bebe is Ali Dia deux

GTFO with the limited games stuff. This was not just a poor game from the player, but a manifestation of his potential.
If you want to wait for a cornucopian of games to know what he can do, please do so and leave me to also declare what I think. I have seen enough(five games was good enough then), I made excuses for his earlier showing, but I think I am just deceiving myself.
Is SAF sure who actually recommended him? Is he sure it was CQ or Weah?

That was garbage. Dunno why Hectic is bothering to try and defend the performance. You can bleat about giving time all you like, if you get an opportunity and are that poor, you won't get many more at a club like this. There are other promising lads waiting in the wings too you know

He hasn't shown anything thus far sadly. If you look at say Smalling and Hernandez, eventhough they are young and raw atleast you can see that there is ability to work with and in a couple of seasons we could have a special player on our hands. Even Nani, Ronaldo etc. showed it in their wayward days.

Bebe and Obertan are yet to show me anything to tell me that there could be a special player here. But as you say it is retarded to write them off and so I'm not going to.

Lets just put it this way 37 year old Ryan Giggs won't be too worried about a starting place as of yet.

Bebe doesn't seem to read the game well, even if he wasn't playing in his preferred position.

He hasn't.

Suppose those two goals were fluke crosses as well.

I think he's just very very raw and on Fergie's part, I think he's throwing him in the first team mix a bit too soon and admittedly, its an undeserved chance.

Because an abject performance like this is only going to incur the supporters wrath evidently and heap even more pressure on the lad than he already had.

Are you suggesting that Fergie is incompetent for continually starting him for the first team?

My favourite bit of the OP is when he says "cornucopian".

I had no idea what that meant, and just looking it up i can see that he doesn't either.

A cornucopian is a futurist who believes that continued progress and provision of material items for mankind can be met by similarly continued advances in technology. Fundamentally they believe that there is enough matter and energy on the Earth to provide for the estimated peak population of about 9.22 billion in 2075[1].

Its clear as day that he doesnt have the footballing brain that is required to play at the very top level at the moment. I still dont know why we bought him and the fact Ferguson never even saw him play makes it 10x worse.

He's a big lad with decent pace and apparently a good shot on him, but he doesn't seem to have any natural footballing talent, it's all very clumsy and he certainly is not a winger.
