Bebe is already ahead of my expectations, I think some people forget that he has less experience of top level football than any other player we have ever had in our squad. I didnt even expect to see him play at all until next year at the earliest.

Thought he was unlucky to come off last night when he did, he had an alright first half and at least was trying to make something happen. Would have preffered Fletcher to come off for Macheda and Giggs to go central.

here we go the bebe haters out in force.....

He looked like the most likely to score for us in the first half. Got into some decent positions and wasn't afraid to take people on. Wasn't great by any means but certainly not the worst in that half of football. Got to think that Fergie took him off because off a multiple of things, challenges he was receiving not being the least of them. He was also pretty lazy tracking back which wasn't helping, but im going to hazard a guess here and say that was probably the coldest, most physical, quickest and hardest match he's ever played in, not suprised fergie took him out of the firing line.

Thought he done alright yesterday, abit harsh to take him off yesterday. Tough situation to put him in, so I don't think anyone should be writing him off after yesterdays display, he did manage a few good turns and lay offs under pressure, but the Hammers were very physical with him and he did suffer a tad.

I didn't think he was great either to be honest and I wasn't surprised when he was subbed. There was a couple of other I would have subbed off before him though.

he was the one with the least experience, so it was him who had to leave the pitch. Justified or not

I don't think Fergie really works like that though. After all, it wasn't exactly an experienced player he brought on to replace him either.

Why wasn't Bebe given a chance to play up top with Hernandez for a change. His height would have certainly helped in corners on both ends of the pitch. He has been playing on the wings for us. I would like to see him play striker once. He has like the worst first touch though.

Thought he was very unlucky to come off. One of the few performances that came out with any positives. Alot more to come from Bebe which is a promising sign. A diamond in the rough, we should call him Aladin.

yep,

he was supposed to be a striker when we signed him, few days later he was an AM, SAF played him on a right wing though.

it could mean that we will sing/add a winger in Jan or June.

looking forward to it :nervous:

SAF on Bebe in today's press conference.

"He'll be a striker"

Interesting.

I said it a while back that him playing out wide is a typical Fergie introduction so to speak. An educational thing rather than a firm indication that his future was on the wing.

As a striker he's a far more interesting prospect given his power and pace. If the rest of his game continues to develop and evolve who knows where he'll be in 2 years.

There will always be the cynical twats out there writing him off but Look at Drogba's development at the equivalent age.

In the very press conference that the SAF Bebé quote is taken from, he said that we wouldn't be bringing any fresh faces in this January.

Yeah, seems to be a standard part of the development for most young strikers these days. Welbeck got his first few run-outs out wide too. It's not just a Fergie thing either. Wenger is adamant that Walcott's long-term future is through the middle.

Doesn't stop people complaining, mind you.

Funny you should mention Walcott, he is by far the player thats won me the most money this season. 4/1 to score anytime against Chelsea. 3/1 usually. Priced as a midfielder still and I honestly cant remember the last time Ive seen him out there. Once RVP plays Walcott is always worth a punt.

To be fair, he also said that about Obertan in the same press conference and I'd be amazed if he intends that to be his position in the long term.

No he said Obertan can also play upfront, so we were well stocked there. There's a difference between saying that and saying what he said about Bebe being a striker in the future.

Weird how we've bought so many 'strikers' recently. We already had Rooney, Berbatov and Macheda and Wellbeck coming through. Then added Owen, Diouf, Obertan, Bebe and Chico. They can't all be intended for a central striking role

Most likely we'll make money on a couple of them and keep the best as long as they're happy with the games they get.

With the amount of players who aren't out and out strikers or wingers I think fergie might be thinking that it might be vital to a 433 system in the future.
