if anyone says that they thought the worm-haired Ronaldo would go on to become arguably the best player in the world, they are liars

Are you serious? Why? Is it not possible for someone to believe one of the best talents in world football will become the best player? Because it's one of the former that become the latter. He was an unbelievable talent. Wouldn't have been absurd to think so at all.

Absolute tosh. Anyone who watched him rape us in Lisbon knew this boy was something very VERY special, he ruined JOS that night, a JOS in the form of his life who'd recently taken Figo to the cleaners. His debut in the Prem
just cemented the idea for me.

Although, if you read some of my earlier posts I used to stick up for Nani big time when everyone seemed to hate him, guess I'm decent as judging that kind of talent :)

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, after his debut Rodney Marsh waxed lyrical on SSN and said that the "worm haired Ronaldo" would become the best player in the World or he'd eat his hat!

Because too many fans can't see potential, they are not good at it and they tend to dislike flashy players like Ronnie and Nani. Apparentely those of us who see this talent and like those kind of players are "liars"....

His talent was crazy good. Obviously it was impossible to see the dramatic improvement in so many aspects in his game that came about in the space of less than a year. But I'm sure lots of people predicted he'd be the best in the world at some point. He was one of the best talents in the world after all.

Looked lively-ish but SAF wanted to go 2 strikers and he was the most likely to come off.

Probably hasn't played in snow before either.

Thought he was one of the better players in the first half, not sure why he was taken off. Certainly would have had more impact than Macheda did.

I usually don't get involved in player bashing, but Bebe should not set foot near the first team for some time. He is far far too raw to start let alone be a sub.

He needs to learn alot of basics including crossing, when to shoot and when to pass and how to track back and actually make a challenge. Because as of right now he fails at all of them.

Same can be said of Obertan though. Playing both at the same time doesn't look to be a recipe for success.

I think he needs to go out on loan to a club that will guarantee him first team football.

Thought it was a really odd move by SAF, surely bring on Carrick (i think he was on the bench) instead of another inexperienced player. Never thought much of Bebe when he was on the pitch could have been him or Obertan who were subbed off

Where exactly? Can't think of any Premiership club that would put up with that level of inconsitency from a loan player and guarantee him first team football.

He needs to stay at the club and work on his game with our excellent coaches, facilities and players.

He was better than most of our team and probably should have stayed on. Not sure why he was taken off.

Atleast this will probably be the last time we see him in the 1st team this season.

I wasn't thinking Premiership mate. Championship here in the UK or maybe back home to Portugal.

He tried really hard to get involved today, I was a little surprised he came off as Obertan was no better.

His first touch at times is so bad I wonder what the scout was watching when they recommended him to SAF. The same holds for Diouf as well. I know they are both young, and as such raw in some aspects of the game. But the first touch at times is like that of a 2nd division player. They have the pace and strength, but none of the natural talent you want to associate with a club like United (a club where an undersized Scholes was given the chance based on quality)

Pace, athleticism is all well and good, but if you don't can't control the ball and put in a decent delivery what's the point? I can't condemn him today, but when people say he looked good out there I have to wonder what exactly they were admiring about his play?

He's strong, and looks genuinely willing to fight for the ball but the quality just seems lacking. If he was 18 like Kiko i wouldn't worry, but he's 20-21 right? Gotta wonder how quickly he will get better if he's not already got some of those technical skills already.

Have to agree in a way especially when you watch Barca vs Madrid the day before. It's all good us looking at pace and power but i'd rather we develop the Tom Cleverley's more at this point.

I'm still not so sure, I think he really needs a lot of personal attention to work out the kinks in his game and I don't think he'd get that elsewhere. Maybe at the beginning of next season if he's looking like putting the skills together he will get a Premiership loan which is ideally what we're aiming for if we're farming him out.

Didnt do well today as the rest of the team. He seems to have a big problem with his technique and his touch

Yeahh but probably more to the fact he had less minutes. Obertan on the other hand just needs to grow an Ego!! His too soft with his ability.

This is true. Looks like he wouldn't say boo to a goose! He certainly needs to adopt a bit of French arrogance and swagger to his game.

I see your point. Maybe a loan now would be detrimental.

Bebe' was trying too hard to impress imo. Probably his reserve match where he scored 2 wonderful goals made him confident enough to take a shot nearly everytime he got the ball.

Bebe' wasn't bad, he actually looked more dangerous than Obertan as at least he was trying and taking his chances while Obertan passed the ball back to Fabio too often.

Still, young and learnin' and I would have appreciated taking Fletcher off and putting Giggs in the CM if we were going to play like that rather than subbing Bebe' off as he was a constant threat, I still think fitness is still a big issue in this young lads developement as you can't see him run a full 90 minutes yet.

He needs at least 1-2 years with full training, I'm sure we will see a glimpse of what he can do, not to mention a lot of patience.

Don't think he'll feature much after this and he'll feature in the reserves for me, maybe a loan would do.

He was one of our better performers last night, but he's very very raw.

As I've said before you can see the makings of a beast of a player there (he's fecking quick, strong, direct and has a bit of trickery about him) but he needs to work on his 'football brain' as it were (decision making, first touch, crossing).

And saying that isn't a slight against him, he's been here three and a half months, doesn't really speak English yet and was playing at a very low level six months ago. If we hadn't gone through that period where we had most of our first team wide players out (we even resorted to bring Hargreaves back ffs) he'd not have as many appearances, and wouldn't be being judged generally as a first team squad player (which he's not at this point)

I think it's tough to judge the potential of an attacking player on the back of a surprise 4-0 thrashing.

To be honest, I wish he'd have shown us a bit more by now, but for now, his progress has fallen slightly short of his price-tag. Still waiting for the 15-20 minute spell in a game that makes you go "wow".
