Bebe | 2010/11 Performances

Fergie subbed him on and off, that's the ultimate humiliation for a player and says a lot about his performance today.
Remember that he came on after 5 minutes, so it's not like it was a normal substitution after 60 minutes. To all intents and purposes he may as well have started the game.

That was one Richardson's,Bellion's and the likes performance today. Really crap.
Harsh on Richardson, he didn't work out here but it was obvious he would go on to be a fairly good midtable player. The Bellion comparison is more apt, Bebe looked like an athlete that (barring some good first touches) hardly knew what to do with a football. Although even Bellion went on to have a fairly good career in France.

Bebe was hitting the crosses very hard in his reserve match a month or so ago, but the key difference was that they were low so it gave our attackers a chance just to get a glancing touch and put it into the net. Today he skied them all, and as such they were virtually going out for a throw in before they bounced. If he's going to hit them that hard he has to get them low.

Someone should tell him you dont have to hit the ball as hard as you can every time

"When United signed me it was because they believed in me – give me some time and I will provide goals for the club and show the Manchester United fans it was worthwhile signing me," he tells Inside United magazine, out now.

That's pushing it.

Beyond the crosses I didnt see anything below Premier League standard from him.

I did. he was fecking brutal. Dress it up however you like but if he played like that in a Liverpool shirt, we'd be breaking our balls laughing.

i think most people over here are being abit too harsh on the lad. Ok he had a shit game, but this could have happened to anyone.
Not to mention that this wolves side beat city last week and lost narrowly to chelsea.

I have a number of opinions and questions regarding his transfer but they're irrelevant now.

What I will say is that this lad IS NOT A WINGER. He's got a bit of skill getting past a man, and can shoot with power, but his crossing is BELOW academy level and his decision making from the flanks is SHOCKING.

I don't ever want to see Fergie put this young boy out on the flanks, it's pointless.

Feck me you are harsh his crossing was bad today but to say he should never play on the wing again?? Wind your neck in you ass hole!! He's a young boy give him a chance........

Does anyone remember Wednesday*? I dont! He's shit! Wont make it! 7 mill we should've spent on VDV! Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaawd it huuuuurts!!!!

Aye, I'll bookmark this one for 5 years down the line. You do too.

He was shockingly bad today. End of story.

Never denied he wasn't. He was.

But we should give players time before judging them too harshly. Various factors can affect a player mentally.

Given the tough fixtures coming up it'll be weeks before he gets some first team action again.

He probably wasn't supposed to get as much of a look in as he has anyway.

Given that SAF has said he's so raw, I'd say we've reason to be heartened by his start to life at OT.

Granted, he's been hit and miss, but what did we expect?

I still don't get the signing of this lad. Still very suspicious about this "scout", does he have a name or is an undercover agent?

He's a postman, not a footballer.

trying to break the horrible jinx from previous page

No need to be insulting, mate.

I'm up for giving him a chance, but I'm also a realist, and that lad is not a winger. I really felt for him, as I stated. And I felt Fergie should've taken him off (or changed formation and moved him) earlier in the game.

Bebe looks like he has potential but he is very young and doesn't have any premier league experience and as such he shouldn't be anywhere near the 1st team yet.
He has alot to learn and as such he shouldn't be getting the stick he is getting today .
He needs time to build himself up, learn the lingo, get experienced and that will take time.
If, like other players we have, after 3 seasons he is still struggling then it's time to let him have some stick !
At the moment he is too young and really deserves a bit of slack lads ... Give him a break

Nothing like judging a player after 3 games.

We'll be doing it a lot while Glazer is in charge... take a cheap(ish) punt on a kid who has played absolutely feck all first team football at a decent standard, chuck him out in front of 70 thousand.... it's gonna be tough.

Can we judge Obertan yet or is there another thread?

7.4m is not cheap. But I guess you can't turn Bebe into a Glazer scapegoat unless you make out that Fergie has buttons to spend.

He does seem to have the pace to be one. The other ball-playing attributes, I'm entirely sure of at the moment. I think this has all been a bit too fast for him to handle, and Fergie will let him get used to it in the reserves for some more time, and then see.

I think we'll need to wait two years. One of them maybe on loan.

I for one would really like cleverly back in January, for more cover.

Fergie's buying players he believes has potential. Some will come off, some won't.

What's 'tough' about this exactly?

I still think he was bought because of the newspaper rumours / tricky agents interests. Pogue for a while managed to make me believe otherwise, but whenever I watch him play I don't think his football is nowhere near Premier League levels.

I do wish him to succeed, it would make a remarkable Cinderela story. I'll keep on watching.

Giggle away, little lad. But it's true, Bebe my well prove he has what it takes to be a Manchester United player, but it will not be on the wing. As he isn't a winger.
He has said he prefers to play on the wing. For the Portuguese U21's he started one match up front and was completely anonymous, was moved to the wing in the second half and was much better. He's played every single match for our first team and reserves on the wing.

Yes, obviously he isn't a winger.

Just got back from the game.

He was fecking shocking. Couldn't Cross, frequently gave the ball away, Positionally wasn't great. To his credit he worked hard, Is very fast and has got a decent first touch.

However that doesn't remedy the fact that he was terrible. If we'd been playing a better opposition they would have punished us badly for his mistakes.
