Would you be happy to see Jose Mourinho become next United manager?

Yeah I'd agree, there's never any smoke without fire in football.

Btw does anyone here have team news for today? Is Pedro back yet? And is Wayne Rooney still absent with depression? Hoping to finally see the Thiago/Herrera dream partnership.

We were interested in Pedro but too late to make a bid and we wanted Thiago before Moyes pulled the plug on a deal.

Nah the national team manager job is an old man job

  1. Mourinho said in an interview recently he will be managing in England again soon.
  2. Said he would most likely have to leave London.
  3. BBC reported we spoke with him ( Either Mou's camp leaked it or ours, BBC wouldn't report this unless a credible source leaked it).
  4. What other club would/could he possibly manage in England?
  5. Mourinho has been wet for the United job ever since SAF retired.
  6. This makes too much feckin sense.
  7. Mou needs us (Re-establish his ego, reputation and pride, fierce rivalry with Guardiola - the final settlement on who is the better manager, prove to Chelsea they made a mistake sacking him, the opportunity to annoy Arsene for another couple of years)
  8. We need him (Proven manager with the right credentials, strong character who gets the best out of players, proven winner - who will almost guarantee a trophy, attract and develop the right players)
I would be very surprised if Jose Mourinho will not be appointed Manchester United manager in the summer. Way too many signs for this not to happen. Perhaps a deal has not been agreed yet but both camps want this to happen, that's for sure. Love him or hate him, it's hard not to admit he is the right man for the job at the moment and a job has to be done. We've fecked around for too long now and in truth, the man should have been appointed three years ago.
Yep, that's exactly how I see it as well.

I'm 100% certain that Mourinho wants the Utd job (he's been angling for it every since leaving England the first time). I'm slightly less certain that we return the interest, but I'm fairly sure we do.

I don't think we are going to get him.

I mean, as big a twat as he his, I would be quite happy to have him here, but there's just something about this story that doesn't...... Feel right.

Really?
It's probably the silence?

Ed is a friend of Mendes, and he probably rang him to say that Mourinho will be manager at the end of the season. In this way United technically have not spoken to Mourinho, and so VG has no reason to be disappointed.
For me it's an absolute certainty he will be at United next season.

Think that's the glory hunters way.

We have finished 7th, 2 seasons back.
4th last season.
Probably 5th this season.
The glory hunters have all gone. If they are still here, then by definition they are not glory hunters.

The sport you play in the play ground - that's all about the taking part.
The sport you play for money - that's ALWAYS about winning. No ifs. No buts. No exceptions.
Winning IS the MUFC way.

Conspiracy theory..

Maybe United are waiting to see if Spurs win the PL, and try to get Pochettino if they do. If they don't, and we dont qualify for CL, we'll get Mourinho

Because he'd have the chance to work at a much bigger club.
But he'd also have just won the prem, what'd be the point? To take over a struggling 5th placed team, didn't he already do that with Spurs in the first place? For players it makes sense but not for managers, in my opinion.

It's still Manchester United, 5th place or not.

Mourinho left Inter for Real Madrid right after winning the Champions League in 2010.

On a whole, no. But, they'd be the Champions of England, whereas we'll be the runners up of the fourth place trophy.

Spurs is nothing but a stepping stone and I'm pretty sure Pochettino wants to manage a much bigger club, title or not. Leicester/Spurs winning it would be an amazing achievement, but Pochettino and Mahrez (for example) would still jump at the chance to join bigger clubs and we still qualify as such, despite our recent struggles.

Our potential finish outside the CL places would not be ideal, but I don't think it'd be that disastrous in terms of pulling power.

Iam sure they want to coach or play for a bigger club like City or PSG. United not so much anymore.

Question for me is, would Jose Mourinho actually want to come to us if we don't have CL football (and let's not even get into the calibre of players that wouldn't come either).

You still think he'll come?

Like I said, we are no longer a big club. We are living off Fergie's legacy.

Even if Van Gaal is binned now, he would not come until the summer. I don't blame him.

Football didn't begin two and a half years ago. We're still one of the biggest clubs, but if we don't sort this shit out next season, then things could change drastically.
