Would you be happy to see Jose Mourinho become next United manager?

Agreed 100%.
The problem is that some supporters are gradually getting brain washed into believing LVG's rhetoric that we should not live in the past and need to lower our standards.
3 seasons ago (not that long ago), Fergie would never even have dreamed of talking about 4th place is a grand achievement. 4th would be absolute failure.
LVG heralds the 4th place trophy as if he should be given a heroes welcome.

Jose, like Fergie, would look at 4th place, as failure.

Correct, since the 91/92 season when it all fell into place, up to 12/13 when he left, United's worst result under SAF was third (and that lowly result was a sum total of only 3 times over the 22 seasons).

The express is reporting that LVG, has told friends that a top 4 finish and an FA cup win will see him finish his three year contract....

Even though that sounds disheartening, I won't believe a word that comes out of any English journalist or newspaper regarding anything.

I don't buy that that's anything other than speculative.

If you flip that, you can look at it that we've told him he's gone if he doesn't make those objectives. Can't see us putting that on a manager we intend to keep for another season.

This would be a nightmare. If we reach top four despite being poor this season then a lot of credit has to go to Man City for completely bottling it these last few months. Performances haven't improved, the players still look scared to try anything remotely inventive and after recent comments LVG is still not very popular with fans.

Should we get top four (and the bonus of the FA Cup) then the club need to say thank you to LVG and bring in Jose as we won't have a better chance in doing so any time soon. Imagine the attraction next season to players having both champions league football and Jose Mourinho in charge..

If that is true - and its a pretty big if, I'd prefer to play Europa league football but have Mourinho as manager. I know loss of money, Europa is shit, yada yada yada, but another year of LVG will put us so far backwards, with the extra kicker that we'll lose out on Mourinho in 12 months time as he won't hang around waiting for us.
Please god don't let it be true :)

Money is not a problem, we have a lot of money, too!

Abramovich owns Chelsea since June 2003, that is for 13 years. He got 4 championships in 13 years, and 3 of those 4 were won by Mourinho!!!

That's a compelling statistic.

It's just gone a little bit quiet, there's only so many times you can recycle a story, even the british press have to take a break after awhile.

I'm still certain its going to happen.

So with Sanches signing for Bayern, could this be a hint that Jose isn't actually coming?

Perhaps we've pulled out as he was a Jose target, or mendes has sold him off elsewhere in spite.

Or maybe United didn't want him or were scouting someone else? Who knows

It is either negative or neutral. If a club would be able to feck it up epically, it would be us and i am not confident at all

I've changed my mind after the Renato transfer, I don't think he's coming.

If we lose to WHU united tonight, I'll be melting

Yeah LVG is staying. Mourinho is gonna join another club and win them trophies while we scrape 4th again.

So you'd rather we keep him? You're deluded if you think the buck doesn't stop with him.

Im not deluded. I just dont see Jose being the antidote people think he will be. My issue is the way we are getting on as a fan base rather than being patient, as shitty as the football has been, the team is getting rebuilt. Jose nor Pep guarantee success in my opinion. That and this seasons meltdown at Chelsea should not be ignored.

Of the several player's we've brought in over van gaals time

Falcao
Di Maria
Blind
Rojo
Martial
Memphis
Schneiderlin
Schweinsteiger
Darmian

Only two of those would be consistent starters in our first 11, and most on here want a center half to replace Blind.
Thats not exactly a stellar rebuild in my book. Or a rebuild many other managers couldn't improve upon, having been given 200mill to spend.

 So all those reports saying Sanches and Mourinho to United can now go in the bin.

Expecting Mourinho to confirm he's going elsewhere some time today, just to rub it in before the West Ham game.

It's getting a bit worrying now. Maybe its just Mendes sending a message to Woodward. Its all so sad.

Should Mourinho say he's going elsewhere; I would just have a proper, raging meltdown. I can't believe the club would be so stupid. I just can't.

Calm down.

Maybe Sanches wanted to go to Bayern? Can anybody blame him? The fees mentioned and then Bayern get him for that much stinks Gaitan and Garay. Those two were Mendes clients too.

I feared that appointing Mourinho would basically be opening our bank balance even further to Mendes and his clients, but now that one of his overpriced clients is heading elsewhere then that certainly might indicate we're not about to tie ourselves even closer to Mendes. Could all of course have been media transfer bollocks to begin with, but it did look like we were in for Sanches.

Any more Mourinho to Everton rumours? Or Valencia? Or PSG?

This, I'm now sure he isn't coming too.

I just detest the risk averse football we play under LVG, no clue how I'll cope with another season of his dross :(

"Sorry Renato, you're not allowed to move to United, I want to spite them instead... .....no I don't care about your career, you'll do what you are told"

It seems likely.

I could actually see 4th place and the FA cup keeping him in the job. It fits with the way we are run these days. Lowered standards, 4th place being an achievement etc. We've become very much like Arsenal. Which makes sense considering the ownership of both clubs.
