Would you be happy to see Jose Mourinho become next United manager?

This "Mourinho has agreed but nothing signed" line has been going on for months now. I refuse to believe that this deal is that slow in being completed.

I think it's already done, but we just don't want him to sign a formal contract before the end of the season and maybe, like the article says, we're confident he won't change his mind and choose another club as he's been refusing other offers apparently. The whole Mourinho to United speculation has been incredibly tedious (especially combined with the LVG out speculation and lack of action from Woody), but I find Ducker's article strangely comforting. I think it's positive and not focused on the "nothing signed yet" just to piss us off like the Sky story.

Maybe we don't want to piss Vangle off when we still have important games to play. Feck knows.

Utd wont come out and confirm or deny the LVG and Mourinho stuff because there is no need. Cant deny every single rumour.
Either the British media and that Portugese paper will be right.
Or arguably the most reliable Dutch journo will be right.
Some rumours are more important than others though. I'd say the identity of the next manager is at the higher end of the importance scale.

I wouldn't mind betting that the contract is signed sealed and delivered. It's probably dated 1st July or some shite line that to get around all the legal loop holes.

Are we, really though? I'm not calling you out specifically, but I'd love to see more examples. I recall us, maybe at two or three occasions, dispelling rumors through the website and Twitter, but I think these were far away from each other in terms of time.
Well, if indeed there was anything to deny, this is the kind of speculation we should and would have killed in its infancy. It has the potential to destabilize LVG by making him look like a lame duck and get players worried about their security. The fact that we have been this silent is telling moreso after the way we killed the Pep story dead on its tracks.

Miguel Delany made the point that the club isn't too plaesed with Mourinho's camp telling every journalist they have an agreement when in the club's view, nothing is decided.
I think the opposite is true, they aren't pleased that Mourinho's camp is leaking what they have agreed and their inaction betrays their dilemma - if they deny the story they will lose credibility when they announce him plus, imo, the Mourinho speculation is the one thing that has kept the fans sane throughout this second half. If they had done anything to confirm that Van Gaal was seeing out his contract fans would have lost their patience and things would have turned nasty.

The club's line is no decision has been made. If that is true the club will be unhappy about the speculation even though they could still sack LVG. I am inclined to think the club hasn't made the decision to sack him. If he comes top 4 and wins the FA cup, he will see out his contract IMO.

Can you imagine if the Jose rumour was quashed by the MUFC board and a statement that VG is staying for the 3rd year, was issued.
I think there would be a lot more "boos" that we saw a few months back. The imminent arrival of Jose has suppressed a lot of ill-feeling towards LVG.

Sky saying no deal; Telegraph saying an agreement but no signature. My head is going to explode:lol:

Not one of those shitty journalists know what's going on imo.

I'd still be surprised to see LVG here next season. The fact he's having an impact, whether big or small - on season ticket holders playing a 'wait and see' game until we know whose in charge next season, not to mention the Adidas CEO commenting on our boring play, makes me feel things have become untenable. As directors, you simply cannot ignore those things from a business perspective. It just doesn't seem logical to me.

They know feck all. Remember when Jim fecking White revealed that we were on the verge of signing Benatia... and he ended up at Bayern on the same day.

Sky sources have had us signing Gundogan, Hazard, Benatia, Kroos, Fabregas just to name a few. So let's put their "reliability" into perspective.

They've really gone down hill the past few years, but they used to be spot on most of the time. Now i wouldn't really give them anymore attention than your average broadsheet.

Their info probably came from Hayley fecking McQueen.

It's so obvious they just throw everything that suits the current "agenda"; ie. United fans right now wants LvG gone/Mourinho in, so that's how they will angle their rumors/articles -- whatever upsets us enough to actually click the links, go to the webpage in whatever way.

I'll say again - it's all guess work based on what they see and hear. Utd are saying nothing so it's an easy story to say no decision yet.

Facts are due to the way the Moyes dismissal unfolded in the press, this decision will have been kept well under wraps and i suspect that only Woodward, Arnold, and the Glazers are aware (I'll also go with Mendes and Mourinho).

We need to insert a run down the touchline to celebrate after a last minute goal against Liverpool, City, or Arsenal clause into his contract.

So if we kidnap him and then give him a contract and remove all pens from the building do we still have to pay him?

Rumour has it that Woodward is faxing the contract as we speak, Mourinho will pick it up in Madrid, and sign it before midnight.

I'm not defending Sky here, but I'm sure behind the scenes many players have been on the verge of signing one club and end up signing for another.

Guess that "Gesture" is going to be him foregoing his 5M penalty clause and give us more time to sign him that is wait till the season is over.

But the truth probably is that there was no penalty clause but that's not gonna stop the papers from inventing new stories and continue the storyline..

How would foregoing the supposed penalty 'secure him the top job'?
