Would you be happy to see Jose Mourinho become next United manager?

And you know this.... how? Giggs is an unknown quantity. Politics or not Giggs would not be an outstanding candidate. Poch would be an outstanding candidate. Or Simeone. See the difference?

To be assistant manager to Mourinho at United? Bit of a step down for Pochettino or Simeone don't you think?

A United spokesperson said: “The managerial situation is something we have not commented on and do not wish to do so now.”

Club's statement on latest Mourinho rumors. Still no backing for LvG

So the club basically has not denied the rumour yet? I meant they denied pretty quickly with Pep meeting, didn't they?

Isnt he Chief of Academy ?

He is but with if the rumours of Berta coming are true then expect changing in the structure again.

Seriously I find this 'inside man' excuse a bit feeble at this point. The coaching structure SAF had left had been radically changed first by Moyes and LVG and is barely noticeable anymore. People appointed in different eras would probably have an agenda to justify their own good work as opposed to what the others 'messed up'. Hence why I think Butt could do the trick. He was a former player under SAF, he was appointed as coach by the Moyes administration and got his promotion during LVG's tenure. Unlike Giggs who seem aiming for the top job himself, Butt seem happy in his coaching role. Therefore the manager doesn't have to constantly watch his back from him.

Well, stop banging on about it at every opportunity then. It's already become extremely tiresome. Nobody else is bothered - not the management, not the players, not the fans. The only relevant question is his ability in his job.
Then why isn't that benefit being extended to Mourinho, a guy who has proven his abilities by a hundred fold to Ryan? Clearly ability is not the only thing that matters because if it did Giggs wouldn't be a candidate and our friend Moyes wouldn't have got the chance to destroy everything Fergie built in record time.

Neither of those were his competition in getting the job or after his job so I don't think he will keep Giggs unless he is forced to by the board. Would be ridiculous to force a manager to work with Giggs though so I hope they don't do that

Gary neville hasn't been involved with United in years or the majority of this team so he would be a pointless hire. Not really comparable to Steve Clarke.

Whether Neville has been involved or not, he knows the club and that's the important point. I would think there is a high chance he would be Mourinhos choice.

I think the club place a lot of value in the job he's doing - they courted individuals for months for that position so I just don't see him taking on what is another important position at a time when the academy requires serious work.

I thought the whole point of retaining a old staff member was to have a link with the players.

Mourinho is better off without Giggs and/or Neville. We need a break from class of 92. I don't want to hear about them next season and their ambition to manage the club. I want the new manager concentrating 200% on the job at hand and getting success for us the fans - not constantly distracted by watching his back, and being unable to trust his staff. It's not good for players to have politics behind the scenes. At this level, everything affects performances on and off the field.

I don't see how this retaining old staff member that has link with players having a big impact here. Our squad is too different than when SAF retired. Mou is not new to PL and United neither. If Mou really needs someone who has knowledge of United coaching work, then might as well consider McLaren, Mike Phelan would be good, not some rookie wannabe unproven coaches. At least those were part of a successful period in assistant manager role here.

No - it's someone who knows the club that he likes to have on his team. Karanka wasn't working for Madrid when he was appointed, Clarke was a youth coach but it was more his knowledge of the club that was attractive.

I'm starting to get the sneaking suspicion he won't get the job and LVG will stay on. I'm all for him. Say what you want about his style and how he uses youth (very few top club managers do) but he knows what he's doing. LVG just seems incompetent and makes baffling decisions. All the good things he's done have been washed away by the mountain of poor decisions, poor results, poor performances, poor man management. He's been atrocious. With Mourinho you get a man who knows what he's doing and i proven. There is no perfect manager out there and the ones who I would have preferred (Klopp and Pep) can never come here now.

Mostly by people on caf simply losing it and shitting their pants because we didn't sack the idiot yet/didn't announce Mou as our new manager during the idiot's tenure. It's a done dealio, Di Marzio didn't back out of his claims, @Acquire Me is hell bent on being done, what more do you need really.

This.

I'm frankly bored of hearing about the 'class of 92' now. I will always hold each of them in high regards for what they achieved especially as players but since then they've done nothing to warrant any future coaching role with the club.

They wont keep Louis at the expense of a viable long term alternative, not for the sake of a year, not when it will make them look almost criminally negligent and grossly incompetent.

If the board keeps him we'll have to do an Arsenal style protest...

People slowly need to face up to the fact that we will not be getting Mourinho either he will lose interest or there was never any interest from United in the first place, as mentioned above normally United would have payed Mourinho 5 million pounds today for nothing according to many reports, which business does business like that.

Why not let LVG won the FA Cup then when going up to receive the Trophy, we have Mou ambushes WWE money in the bank cheap shot classic.

OR after winning the Cup, while LVG and players are celebrating on the pitch (with the Cup in hand), having their pictures taken by the press...Mourinho should be in the background....somewhere. Maybe wearing a (Chelsea-style mask).
During the game, he goes un-noticed.
However, the following day pictures, magnified by 1000x will be posted in the press and social media, circling the face of the masked man, who after extensive photographic analysis is identified to be none other than: Jose Mourinho.

DAH DAH DAAAAAH!!!!!

I have one thing to say:
