I can buy that, but it still doesnt make sense that KDB gets 5 games in half a season.

A player of KDB's quality is right to do so. He deserved more game time than he got, and there wasn't a need for hindsight to know that. I recall Chelsea fans generally being displeased when he was sold.
At the end of the day football is full of clangers. Leicester's entire team is made up of other people's mistakes.

People throw Pogba's name into this discussion to demonstrate that even Ferguson was capable of errors, but he made others, such as failing to sign John Barnes when he had the chance, selling Stam way too early, and even describing Zidane as a 'performing seal.'

No manager gets it 100% right, and up to his second spell at Chelsea it's hard to remember Mourinho dropping any clangers at all. It's just unfortunate for him that his two major mistakes were made in such quick succession.

I agree, if I was Mourinho I would have gave KDB a real chance to change his attitude and I would have tried to build the team around him. Now I say that from the outside because the problem with Courtois exists and it was maybe one of the reasons behind Mourinho decisions and I'm not Mourinho, he is the great manager not me.

2 more days....till LVG gets the sack?

I think that Mourinho should be announced in a very theatrical manner.
Like a Hollywood/WWE type stunt.

Maybe he will have a scripted argument, between LVG and Jose, near our dug-out (each with their own microphone) arguing over who should manage MUFC.
Perhaps Mata will then run out, holding back LVG. And another player shall hold back Mourinho as they appear to be getting ready to get physical.
Then enter Woodward, with a third microphone to adjudicate who will manage us next season...
Anything short of Mourinho skydiving into OT wearing a red mankini trailing a 50m long banner with 5m high words "LvG OUT!" on Sunday and landing on Michael Oliver just as he's about to award Leicester a penalty 5 seconds from time at 2:1 up will be a bitter disappointment to me now :(

unfortunately LVG would probably win after tiring mourinho out by running from side to side for 90 minutes and never attacking

Everyone will hail him as excellent at defending himself but he really just avoided doing anything at all.

Van Gaal's role in pre-season
One person who believes Van Gaal is staying is Sky Sports News presented Hayley McQueen. Here’s what she told Football Fancast.

“If some of the papers are to be believed this deal with Jose Mourinho is already done and dusted.

“I worked at the end of the season awards actually and having good relationships with people at the club my udnerstanding is that they’re all set for Van Gaal to take charge of the team next season. He’s even had a massive hand in the pre-season.

“Ed Woodward and the guys sat down and mapped out the whole pre-season plan - where they would train, where they would travel to - and Louis van Gaal has come in and actually changed a lot of what they’re doing and planning. So obviously they have hmi in mind.

“He has a very good relationship with Ed Woodward and I think that’s why he’s been in the job as long as he has.

“I think he is fairly confident himself of winning the FA Cup and his own future.”

I should imagine plans for pre-season were done a while ago.

If LVG stays (which I don't believe at all), then we shall prepare for another attempt at the 4th place trophy.

Yep. Just something you have to do. LVG couldn't stop moaning about whatever Moyes and Woody put together when he came in.

Means feck all, they will have been preparing for pre-season for a long time.

Moyes was involved in plans for preseason before he was given the boot.

Yup, and I remember Giggs also talking about having to decide stuff with the pre-season for that short time he was in charge.

All clubs have planned for pre season. This stuff is done months in advance. Moyes planned the 2014 preseason.

No body gave a crap when Chelsea sold Schurrle and KDB and now the anti Mourinho crowd are using it every second and would prefere to keep the guy who bought and sold Di Maria in twelve months or his assistant who never signed a player in his life. Lukaku is good but look at his chances missed against us. Everton just paid 25 mil for him and he is already looking for a move.
Let's leave these two transfers in the past guys. Every manager has made those desicions and if that's all we can talk about then maybe Pep and the Eto/ Zlatan deal should get a mention or the Wenger Van Persie or Klopp allowing his best players walk out every summer. "How dare they, this is proof they are bad managers people, we don't want them near our club, I don't watch football so I don't care where we finish in the table as long as the traditions of the club when I actually gave a shite are upheld, look at me, I'm not spoilt like all you people who want you're club to be the best".

I miss Hayley. What a presence at MUTV.

Good post.

So Hayley McQueen has basically conceded all credible sources say the Mourinho deal is done, but she reckons LVG is staying because he helped plan Pre-Season.

Alrighty then.

Sounds like Ed had us globetrotting to market the club and Van Gaal stepped in with his input on proper preparation for next season, something he was adamant about after last years world tour. He is still our manager, loves control and never changes despite the situation. It's not surprising that he has a heavy hand in pre season regardless of his future with the club. United will have scores of people making preparations, tools aren't put down just because the managers future is uncertain.
It's a common ploy in the media now for clicks and pennies to speculate on the managers position. If we were sticking with Van Gaal the club would of definately made a statement of support by now. If we were going down the Giggs road we would definately know by now, Ed would have it advertised like a summer blockbuster. Up until two weeks ago Van Gaal scoffed at any idea of him leaving and someone else taking over, now we have heard from his own lips that his future is uncertain and if he had better players he could've achieved more. Typical talk from a manager who has been told his days are numbered. If there was no chance of Mourinho his camp would of said so weeks and weeks ago and he would be signed up at PSG already.
I do believe it a dead cert that Jose Mourinho will be our new manager. The future looks very bright indeed, a world class manager, a club executive itching to spend and break records, owners who are hands off, an experienced and respected DOF picked and courted by the manager, a super agent and half a dozen youngsters blooded in the first team. The only thing that could tarnish it for me would be having Giggs stick around. We need a clean break from not only the last three years but the last ten. Having him around with that kind of speculation is unhealthy, that Lord Of The Rings character Wormtongue comes to mind when I think of Giggs at this stage and I am fecking pissed that a guy with no experience would be considered for the manager of United regardless of his role at the club. If it is the case of Giggs taking over then that means that SAF and David Gill lied to us for all those years and our club has just turned in to an organization where it's jobs for the boys, not unlike a big bank or political party.

Who's van gaal purchase that can be considered a success?

Martial and... Erm...

The global media is just a click bait cesspool at this stage and football media epitomizes that. 90% of it is worthless garbage with nothing to back it up only an editor or producers personal notion of relevant information, which usually turns out to be horseshit and filler between advertising.

Hayley: “I worked at the end of the season awards actually and having good relationships with people at the club my understanding is that they’re all set for Van Gaal to take charge of the team next season."

That doesn't sound as if her info is all that recent; why else mention something as 'distant' as last season's Awards ceremony?

Dammit you are right. That tweet is about this season, not next surely.

Martial and... Erm...
Schneiderlin will come good for us, of that I'm certain. Shaw and Herrera are very promising, especially Shaw. I kind of like the idea of Schweinsteiger and the wealth of experience he brings, cheap for a player of that caliber regardless of age. Darmian is another Buttner, a good squad member who has a really good season in him somewhere. Memphis has been utter shite, I don't rate him at all and doubt he has it in him to be successful in this league. We will probably sell him to someone like Stuttgart where he will have a few good seasons and sign for Chelsea for 35mil and we will be told how LVG was a genius and we were stupid to get rid of him. Rojo, meh, easily bought easily sold. Valdes and Romero, I really don't know what we were thinking messing around with Valdes, no difference between lindegaard and Romero.
All in all not too bad for the last three terrible seasons we have had, throw in Mata and Fellaini, decent enough. Our problem has been two fold, a guy taken to the cleaners on transfers and two managers just not good enough for a level we aspire to return to. Ed is learning fast and with someone like Mourinho we will have a formidable combination on and off the pitch once again.

Dunno, mate, maybe I've misunderstood. Perhaps someone can work it out.

They know squat, they have proved that over and over and over again.

Because they would tell you otherwise Hayley....

It's a bit garbled. Are the powers that be or supposed ITK's going to tell a Sky employee what is going on at United? Staff at United are probably just as in the dark as the rest of us.

Because they would tell you otherwise Hayley....
Being fair she does say it's her "understanding", it's unlikely she's been told anything. She seems to be interpreting LvG's planning for pre-season as an indication that he'll stay because reading her comments again she's implying that she's not really been told anything at all.
