Can anyone post the full article? even if its in german ? The headline can be misleading as its a sunday just to get some clicks.

That in itself shows that it wasn't a case of 'they asked me who, and I told them it was Moyes'. It was a decision that involved many people. Unanimous agreement also doesn't mean that they all mentioned Moyes immediately. It means they all agreed at the very end of the discussion having taken everything into account and whatever they discussed that it should be Moyes. We don't know the content of the conversation and who they discussed, and why they didn't go for A, B or C manager.

No. It says that Fergie went to New York, met Joel Glazer, told him he is going to retire and they should hire Moyes, and Joel agreed. Moyes was Fergie's decision and he made everyone else agree with it.

I don't think this piece has been posted before. Interesting points about 'control'. One wonders with Fergie and his ego. Perhaps he wants the most pliable candidate for the job. (ie. Giggs and Moyes before that) His presence on the board is not something I'm entirely comfortable with.
Well, it's good that he isn't on the board then.

I don't think it's overestimating anything. It's how business works at the most basic level, let alone that of business the size of ours who float on the NY stock exchange. As incompetent as you think they might be it would be an insult to think that they actually conduct business like children.
Exactly.

People who say/write Maureen truly show themselves off as redneck hillbillies and neighbours to texas chainsaw massacre farm to be fair. How backwater can you be.

Having seen evidence of old Zlatan again against City I'd be very wary of us bringing him in

What doe that say?
Mourinho has signed a 3 year deal and his major target is Zlatan according to Bild. Good to see all those doubts about youth were unfounded. Rooney behind Zlatan, pacy exuberant football awaits.

For all the doom and gloom we have an amazing opportunity here to build a fantastic side. There's a core of about 10 young, exciting hungry players who we can add to. We aren't going to get anywhere signing has beens for millions who have lost their hunger, have nothing to prove and want one final pay day.

How do we compete with Bayern, Madrid and Barcelona. That has to be the question we're asking ourselves right now. Unfortunately this generation of top talent has gone, they've hoarded it all whilst we were paying off our huge interest bills. So we need to start stocking up on the next generation, and we need to do it quickly when their squads aren't quite at the end of their cycle. Let's go out and sign the best 18-22 year olds in the world and build a team that can compete at the top level for years. I want players who win their first trophy with this club, who you associate with Manchester United. Who grow up with us, develop with us and ultimately who owe us for giving them their opportunity. That's how you create loyalty, and that's how you make dynasty's.

We're a huge club, can pay top money and because we're a little bit shit any top young player is guaranteed a lot of playing time. We have to be an unbelievably attractive proposition. No more Di Maria's, no more Falcaos, no more Matas, no more Schweinsteigers. No more stop gaps/feeding off our rivals scraps. Van Persie was a one off under Ferguson due to how we lost the league and his looming retirement, it's now becoming the norm. No more chasing galacticos all summer. Muller and Neymar aren't coming, we need to start looking at the next generation.

I don't really care who the new manager, our transfer policy and the direction we're taking is far more crucial. Mourinho with the remit to sign the best young talent excites me, Pochetino with the same remit excites me even more. The Arsenal home game is the most enjoyment I've had watching us play since the Van Persie volley against Villa. Let's create a side that plays with the same pace, energy, passion and hunger but with more quality. We'll find out in the next month if the club have any idea of where they want us to go or if Woodward is clueless after all.

It will not do Rashford any harm being one of 4 strikers, Zlatan, Rooney, Martial and Rashford who can be interchanged. It will take some of the pressure off Rashford. Zlatan is coming to the end, but could teach the other two kids a lot. If Rooney doesn't produce next season then it will be the end for him. That is presuming Rooney doesn't get sold.

Where have I said I'm against signing a striker? I just don't think signing a 33 year old in physical decline is particularly prudent, especially considering we play in the most physical league in the world, it would cost 300k a week to do it, and we already have a declining 30 something striker on 300k a week. This seems like agent driven nonsense to me, I think we're signing Lukaku.

I too am.against signing Zlatan.

I never understood why some fans care how much the owners pay they players! Can you explain it to me? What do you care if a player is paid 500k a week or 50k a week? Are you going to get the difference? Are the tickets going to get cheaper? Of course not! The owners will pocket the difference! So ... why do you care?

Umm...because our wage budget isn't endless?

Because the club only has so much money to spend on wages, and if we overspend on average players currently at the club, that limits the players the club can bring in.

Absolutely, 100% spot on. While we were paying to be run by a bunch of owners we didn't want, the likes of Ozil, Aguero, David Silva, Benzema, Lucas Moura and Javi Martinez were going elsewhere. Add to that the fact that we made bad decisions over the likes of Thiago and Pogba, and we've missed out on a generation of footballers.

As you say, we've got to stock up on the generation, and tbf LVG has done a good job with this. With the signings of Shaw and Martial, and the rumoured interest in Niguez and Renato Sanchez, we're obviously prioritising the next crop of world-class youngsters, and there's plenty of talent coming through.

However I wouldn't begrudge the signing of someone like Ibrahimovic. We need some experience to go with all the youth, and despite his abject performance the other night, I reckon Ibrahimovic would be a big upgrade on Rooney. In fact this signing tells me that Rooney is going, and the marketing people need another marquee name to flog to the sponsors. Would not be at all surprised if we're selling 'Ibrahimovic 10' shirts next season.

Do you think we have any budget problems? Most of us have no idea what the budget is. As far as I know we have profits, every single year.

Do you think that we the fans should worry more about balancing the budget or about scoring 30 goals per year (total as a team) and winning nothing?

United make profits most years but it's only between 0 and 20m, and the club can't spend it like that, the club needs some cash. Next year will be different though the new TV deal will see the club make around +50m profit on the same budget.

Bild are no better than the likes of the Sun and are known in Germany for making it up as they go along so I wouldn't read to much into that article.

that's not true. regarding bayern for example, they are usually spot-on.
they have been wrong before though. And I don't get why a German paper should know about a Portugese man going to an English club.

Maybe because Manchester United are big news everywhere, including Germany, especially as LvG is taking them to a new low. That will be a familiar scenario over there. So they know people are interested.

Are you genuinely asking me if I think a major business accountable to shareholders operates with a financial budget? I'm going to go with yes. I think if we have Rooney on 300k a week, and Zlatan on 300k a week, we're pretty unlikely to then sign Lukaku, who plays in the same position as both, for 60m and 150k a week.

Because the owners pocket the rest... but still: so what? That's for the accountants.

Why does a fan care how much a player is making?

Is there a single fan who is worried that we will not have enough money to pay CR07 or Neyman or the next big superstar?

Is there a SINGLE fan who believes that at this point, in 2016, our problem is money??? Seriously!

Nothing to do with your post, but are you 12?

I might take him if I could be confident of him doing the business against the lesser sides in the league, as it's them that we seem to struggle against rather than the big teams. Remember Ronaldo used to get criticised for being a flat-track bully when he was with us, who didn't perform against the big sides but still at that time we won three league titles with him doing that.

I'm going to say it very slowly:

In my opinion, due to the fact we operate within a budget, it is unlikely that we will sign both Lukaku and Zlatan. As Zlatan is 33 and declining, I feel it would better for us to sign Lukaku. That's why I care as a fan.
