Would not be shocked to see Real Madrid exit the Champions League and hire Mourinho 48 hours later.

Doubt it. Reading Mourinho's comments, it doesn't sound like he wants to return to Spain.

If Madrid get him instead of us, this place will go into melt down...me included.
That sign which says, "I can't handle the load captain. Count to 10, then click refresh".

But, I think its a done deal (us + Mourinho). ;)

Zidane wont be sacked so soon either. He will be allowed the summer, to create his own team. He has some bad apples like james right now.

Now that the other two obvious top candidates (Pep and Ancelotti) are unavailable then Mou is the obvious candidate. I also consider Klopp and Pochettino as unavailable and so is probably Blanc, but I don't rate them as better than Mou.

We can not enter next season with LvG or Giggs at the helm, that must be bleeding obvious to our board. Mou is still a top manager who can attract top signings even without the lure of CL football.

Mou isn't a guarantee for success, but he is the obviuos candidate at the moment.

Seriously mate think about it. What is better for Giggs?
Surely any logical person will answer "take his chance now". He'd be daft to leave and try and return at a later date. What the fans want and what suits Giggs ambition to manager are two entirely different things.

Treble at Porto.
Double at Chelsea.
Treble at Inter.
League at Madrid.
Double at Chelsea.

That's just about the definition of success. He's on a pace to be the most successful manager of all time.

I don't get the point of this article. If we're desperate to keep him then whether we qualify for CL or not shouldn't matter.

I think what the twat is trying to say is that United board are desperately hoping that we make top 4 so they can have grounds to keeping him without getting the fans to turn on the club.

Make no mistake, I want the guy at OT and I think that he will do well, but we are in a sorrow state and just like any major transfer there is no guarantee.

why not? he's won the EPL 3 times. It's not like he doesn't know what this league is about and what sort of team it takes to win it. He will build a physically and mentally strong team that can handle the grind of 38 games.

With managers, there is a guarantee. Look at all the top managers, they win where ever they go. They are different from players.

Not denying he had a lot of success, but you are being too generous with your definition of "double" and "treble"

Apart from LVG. He's won everywhere except with us.

He's also had some crap stints with Holland (failed to qualify for WC 2002), Barcelona (sacked after 6 months in 02/03) and his second season at Bayern they were on course to miss the CL when he got sacked in April 2011.

Domestic double still impressive. It's trophies. Something we haven't won since SAF retired.

The Inter treble was by definition a treble.

This.

And, as himself likes to point out, he is still the Champion of England.

Yeah he is but he royally fecked it up with his behaviour this season and like it or not, that has to be considered and seriously questioned as to why it happened in such a disastrous way.

No matter his record or past success, I just don't see him as the right fit for this club and no amount of convincing is going to change that.

Please please please be our manager....
Ps get the feck away from our club you Dutch fraud..

Not really. Any logical person in his circumstances would leave, he would gain experience elsewhere and return as a manager if and once he can come at United and be his own man. United are in one hell of a mess and he cant possibly believe that he can sort this by himself. Let more experienced people do the job only to return once the club is in more solid foundations.

Also if Giggs fails to make the grade then he can rest assured that his spotless reputation and his CV will almost guarantee him a director job once the old men retire. That will probably never happen if Giggs ends up being sacked at United.

Surely Giggs has followed Gaz career and can acknowledge how difficult for a rookie to manage a top club which is in trouble.

Agree. If he takes it now he'll have gotten the job with little fuss/effort, but he'll most likely end up failing and being a case of being well undercooked as a manager, if he ever did have the talent to succeed. Whereas if he goes elsewhere to prove himself, getting the job might be harder, but he'll have a better chance of succeeding.

I imagine Gigg's ambition is to succeed as United manager rather just becoming United manager.

Also there's a reason why Pep doesn't want the job and why Ancelotti preferred Bayern to a return at Milan. Who wants to lead a club whose team is in a mess but the expectations are still that of a top club? Its one thing being in Mou situation (ie he's got a point to proof as much as our club has) and its another being a young manager with a flawless career as a player and no experience as a manager. Considering that Mou or any other manager would probably leave after 3-4 seasons time, Giggs might as well wait (and build his own reputation as manager elsewhere) until either the whole thing crushes to the ground or someone manages to stir the ship to safer waters.

ESPNFC sources claim that jose is confident of becoming the next manager at United.

Yeah LVG was always very hit-and-miss. And his crowning achievement came 21 years ago, long before all the money had flooded into the game and changed it forever.

We get it, Dev. Thanks.
