It's amazing that these people seem no more informed than us, considering their profession & contacts.
I work in the media myself mate. Used to do football stuff and still work in the sports press occasionally as a freelancer. To be honest it's really difficult for any journo to get close to the clubs in this country - all they have is the press conferences, the post-matched mixed zones where you might get five minutes with a player if you're lucky, and the sponsor-organised press days where the subject matter is strictly controlled.

Aside from that, the odd journo might have a high-ranking source at one of the top clubs, like the guy who kept leaking United lineups during the Moyes season, but most of what they write is educated guesswork. A lot of tabloids will simply link a player and a club with no basis in fact, purely to sell papers.

On the continent it's easier to get access to clubs. Agents are more trusting of the press, and players are closer with journalists. Hence why it seems people like Di Marzio get more 'scoops' than the British lads.

Because our fans prefer being misled into negativity.

Nah. We've lost faith in the board, so we expect incompetence rather than excellence.

PS Thanks for the info, Johnny. :)

Sorry, I don't quite understand this. Are you talking about the near-future, or when SAF left?
Well I'm talking about things as they stand.

If we were to evaluate things immediately after Fergie, you need to bear in mind that this board was saddled with Moyes. A year written off.

From what I understand people like Auclair who write books about football tend to be closer to clubs but they don't chat much.

If we assume the signing of an agreement to take over in May is true, then nothing else is going to happen between Mourinho and the club until then. So there's no movement for the press to report on.

That means two things. We'll see a lack of stories for a while, which sees people in here go for the 'it's all gone quiet, it must be off' angle. Then the press themselves will decide it's been too long since they wrote about that story, so will churn out a few baseless bullshit pieces to cover the bases.

Why is everyone panicking? I don't see any links to any articles or tweets, so I'm confused as to why this recent negativity is present?

I think it's because the sheer horrific thought of LVG staying next year?

It's actually quite impressive how quick some of you are to panic. Speaks volumes about what's happened at the club in the last few seasons.

Exactly, this.

The mass panic is hilarious. Imagine buying into the crap the blokes on sunday supplement dish out? They're just doing their job of selling papers. It doesn't really sell just putting that Jose is coming every week does it, you need a few twists.

Nothing surprises us anymore. I wouldn't even put it past us to give the job to Gary Neville.

It's off. feck. 3 years of Van Gaal. No title for the next 25 years. Charlton you *** ***

We have literally no clue what is going on, why even get worked up? The only way this is getting resolved is if we wait and see.

Why are people losing their shit? Just because LvG is talking about pre-season?

I don't think it's that. The press are though, that it means he is staying, it means nothing. Pre-season takes months to arrange. Although with all LvG's previous attempts of arranging or re-arranging at OT I'd rather he had no involvement.

Two things seem pretty obvious to me. Woodward would, all things being equal, like to keep LVG. And we saw stories identical to these in the last days of Moyes' reign.

The Caf: 99% posters telling others to stop losing their shit; 1% posters actually losing their shit.

The facts are that multiple sources have all stated very explicitly that Jose will be MUFC manager in the Summer. No ifs. No buts.
We also have Jose himself, quite relaxed about his future. He isn't speaking to other clubs (that we know of). Other clubs are not queuing to speak to him (that we know of).
All this suggests that Jose will join in the Summer and is no longer seeking a new employer.

As for LVG: I refuse to believe that even Woodward, will accept 6th place. He wants big players to join the club (for marketing purposes) and this will only happen after LVG has gone and we are competing for trophies.
I doubt any top class player would want to join us right now, given LVG's poor tactics, man management, his inability to get the best out of Galactico class players and the uncertainty regarding our management.
Put simply, LVG is out of his depth and is being asked to achieve something he simply isn't capable of and this is plain for everybody to see.

I am 99.5% sure that the deal is done.

Solskjaer: Giggs can be a great United manager
The plethora of Giggs’ former teammates and Fergie acolytes championing an unproven manager is becoming embarrassing.

“Can Giggsy be a great United manager? Definitely. Ryan’s got the United DNA,” Solskjaer told the Daily Star.

“He’s a very bad loser, like everyone has to be if they want to be successful.”
This is gathering too much pace for my liking.

Because the highly reputable Mirror and Express have run stories saying he's staying.

I don't think it's that. The press are though, that it means hetaying, it means nothing. Pre-season takes months to arrange. Although with all LvG's previous attempts of arranging or re-arranging at OT I'd rather he had no involvement.

I see. I wouldn't worry just yet.

 bloody hell, it seems all it takes to be made for the United manager job is to love the club and hate losing.

 Everything they come up with all the time is "he understands United", he has the "United DNA".
First off, how does this make someone a good manager? And secondly, we have lost our identity for a good part anyway. And just because Giggs knows what we were about when he was a player doesn't mean he can bring it back as a manager....

But I don't blame the likes of Rio, Scholes or Solskjaer. What the heck are the supposed to say about a good mate?

Probably why none of them have made good managers at the very top level or have even comtemplated being managers. Has any ex United players, except Blanc made it as a top notch manager? No, they are all midtable, championship managers. Maybe that is the plan drag us down to that level.

I'm yet to find a manager successful or not who is a good loser. Busby and Ferguson didn't have United DNA (whatever that is btw) and they did just fine it's fair to say.

Yeah. Can someone point out the source/story/reason for the original losses of shit? I have no clue what is going on.

He will leave I'm certain.

The club wouldn't be stupid enough to keep him on for a third year. The vast majority of fans dislike lvg anyway so keeping him would cause some major unrest.

I swear to god if he stays a third season and then the club makes giggs manager then it's RIP Manchester United.

In relation to the Mou/LVG situation, I've no idea why anyone would take the Sunday Supplement/papers types seriously. Literally they are the definition of hot air - they talk absolute shite every Sunday. And yes, I mean all of them.

If LVG lasts beyond this season then it's clear we are run by absolute morons without question. Regardless of whether it's Mourinho coming to replace him or not.
