LVG wouldn't have picked him had it not been for a ridiculous amount of Injuries.

Also the notion that Rashford doing well has "reminded" SAF et al about United's focus on youth is truly stupid.

Our strikers from top to bottom -
Rooney
Martial
Keane/Fellini
Rashford

United have always had 4 strikers in the squad and even if squad rotation and injuries were the reason Rashford got games- he still had a chance of being in the squad through 1 or 2 injuries alone.

Even without injuries there are plenty of players who are kids from martial to Shaw. So it can't be said this was winning the lottery by chance.

Furthermore; if LVg is given blame for the numerous players that have let us down - it's all down to him - even if the kids do well; surely.

I think you'll find the majority of Utd supporters care about the type of football.

Why do "people need to move on from this promoting "youth" thing?". Don't the likes of Rashford and CBJ blow a hole in that statement?

Yes that's why I said those 2 may or may not turn out to be decent players. They probably won't be regulars though long term. Fact is Most of our youth that have come through in recent years are now playing for lower prem/championship teams.

Like it or not to stay on top in football you need to go out and buy established players

On the football style I'd much rather win every game 1-0 under mourinho than win-lose-win-lose like we do now.

Yea and? There is no chance in hell that cnut would play Rashford vs City away.

You don't know that, with him it will always depend on how players perform in training and how players are able to translate his instructions on the field. And if he played Varane against Barcelona, he can play Rashford against City.

You dont know that either.

Actually, it comes from Lollichon someone who worked with him.

I wouldnt expect from him to say how he picks his team from a hat.Guess other coaches from other clubs then Chelsea saying same thing. At start of this season bet Ivanovic,Matic and other 7 were killing it on trainings and translated his instructions like any other.

I love how it's being made to look as though playing Rashford was part of Van Gaals master plan. He only got called up because every fecking striker and player in our squad that could play striker was injured!! Under similar circumstance Mourinho would have played Rashford too.
It's ridiculous. The youth narrative is bizarre, we've barely brought a top class youth player through our own system in the last 20 years. The best one we had - Welbeck was sold by LVG (to the delight of most on here) whilst Pogba and Morrison were released under SAF.

If you are good enough you will get a game. Pochettino playing Delle Alli is not some sort of genius, i watched him take our squad players apart 18 months ago.

LVG has always said he wants a small squad so youth is given a chance. I suppose he was forced to give youth a chance all these years at all those massive clubs due to injuries?
The one thing we can say about LVG is he trusts young players. This is not an accident.

We certainly seem to be a huge 'accident' at the moment! :p

Has he? I can't recall him saying that in any window? I do remember him saying that Utd wouldn't go for another striker because he doesn't believe in competition for certain positions ( namely Rooney's ).
I always felt that his liking for small squads had more to do with his desire to maintain a tighter grip on first team personnel.
In saying that, he does have an impressive record for introducing new players, I've just never heard him reference the practice at this club, up until recently, when it was clearly expedient for him to do so.

Matic, De Bruyne, Lukaku. The rest he didn't give chances are still in their teens/early 20's.

We wanted long term with Mourinho and he didn't deliver. He won't deliver that for United either.

None of them are your youth talent and as said chelsea is not a proper club
No proper club sack the manager who just won them the league

I think Jose will be with us for at least three years, maybe it's just blind optimism, but I think we'll stick by him, and let him have the control he desires.

Clearly no point having a discussion with you then.

When you consider the backing LVG gets for being an absolute disaster... If Mourinho wins the league for us he will be unsackable by the board

Van Gaal has won stuff too. That blows your argument straight out of the water.

Your argument blows itself out of the water.

LVG won his CL trophy in 1995. Mourinho won his CL trophies in 2003 and 2010. Massive difference.

Mourinho has won trophies IN ENGLAND whereas Van Gaal has not. (Pochettino, a great manager, has not won a league or CL trophy, but that point in not in dispute.)

This isn't the thread to explain in detail how the game has passed Van Gaal by. But it's beyond debate that LVG's philosophy does not work in England, despite the fact that he won a CL trophy with Ajax 21 years ago.

No one has ever argued that Mourinho's philosophy does not work in England, in light of the fact that he lifted the English league trophy less than 12 months ago while Van Gaal watched it on television.

Just because a bloke managed to pull a 19 year old stunner 21 years ago, doesn't mean he can go into a club in 2016 and expect the same result.
Very nice analogy but you've made me feel old at 31!

I couldn't agree more mate.

You seem to be implying that you're not qualified to manage Utd unless you've won a trophy in England. Is that the case? If not, I'm unsure what your criteria are.

A bit misleading. Pogba left when his contract expired, after refusing a new, lucrative offer. The club bent over backwards to straighten out Morrison - to no avail.

He left because saf promised him games and he never delivered

I'd say it's pretty obvious he's coming now and thank feck the club has come to its senses.
