I wonder who will be our versions of Mikkel and Ramires - players who he loved bringing on during a game when he wanted to close out a win (Mikkel central midfield and Ramires on the wings)?

No. There are big lads, who Mourinho hopefully will love.

They are not big lads yet but that's my point, they are both well rounded and can do it all, holding the ball included.

And to be fair even if he decides to sign a bulky or tall player, SAF signed Berbatov when he had Tevez and he signed RVP when he had Hernandez, he benched Hernandez for Welbeck, Mourinho will use the players who fit his gameplan.
In general I think that we put to much thoughts into Mourinho's alleged obssessions, he played Fabregas in a midfield two.

Edit: Mourinho isn't going to like Zigic and he isn't going to like Gameiro, he likes well rounded players.

They are not smaller though, Martial and Rashford are as tall as Milito and they are teenagers. there is no point really, it's just an unwarranted criticism, what type of manager is going to choose a weaker player when he can have a strong, fast and technically gifted player?

Milito is 6 feet, Eto'o is shorter, Higuain and Benzema are in the norm, Rashford and Martial are around Milito and Eto'o heights.

Again with the defensiveness...unwarranted criticism? No one (not me at least) is criticising Mourinho's preference of striker. It is how it is, there's nothing wrong with him liking a certain type of striker.

He didn't play Eto'o as a striker by the way, so that kinda weakens your argument when one of your examples was moved position because he didn't fit the Mourinho prototype.

What do you mean by Higuaín and Benzema being the norm? They're both taller than Milito and (at a guess) taller than your average striker.

People seem to forget that most of what they mention are means to an end.

The goal: winning trophies.

The means: players, youth, systems, etc. If you win nothing with these, then they are worthless.

There is no such thing as a Mourinho player.

Milito and Eto'o used to switch position for Inter.

Didn't see much in Serie A but unless they switched exclusively in domestic matches then that's not true. Milito never played out wide.

IIRC, they often played in 4312, with Eto'o or Milito playing wide while the other was running in the middle or both streching the defense and Sneijder running in the middle, sometimes it was 433 with Pandev and the three of them would form a fluid attack. In general in Serie A, I remember a fluid attack with the strikers pressing a lot but not dropping deep and a very compact back seven.

Another season of Mangle & Silent Bob and I'll be committing Louicide.

Same here, mate.

Its very frustrating to see LVG and Giggs sitting on our bench while we lose/draw games. And even more infuriating when fans get excited, thinking we can win trophies when we win 1 our of our last 5 games.

Although I don't want Mou as manager next season, he is going to be.
Might be a very far fetched theory but It's well known that Sir Bobby doesn't like him, and naming of stand after him and ThankYouSirBobby are basically indicative of his "retirement" from the club for the time being at the end of season

Think so too. Ferguson got his statue and stand and retired. Fergie also admitted he was going to retire the year he got his stand but city won the title on GD leading to fergie doing another year as he wanted to go out as a champion. so hence he got the stand in the year he was suppose to retire and a statue in the year he actually did. I expect SBC to retire from his role as director and pave the way for Mourinho to have a "clean" start.

Why does that have to prevent us from hiring Mou?

I know its a far fetched theory, but club doesn't start ThankYouxyz without a person deciding to leave. Just think they are renaming the stand now because they dont want the relations to go south. I just feel that it might be an indication that SBC is going to leave his post and might be due to difference in opinion regarding appointment of Mou

so far fetched that in a galaxy far far away, the SBC and SAF stand become the rocks of the rebellion. Drones start flying over OT, SAF dusts off his old light saber to find the last hope (AKA, THE WATCH), in the far corners of the globe, an ancient native American warrior callled "Little Red Devil" (due to his pubic hair being ginger and having horns) is found by SAF who saves United from the bring on turning into Liverpool.

Or maybe, just maybe, he's nearly 80 years old and has given nearly his whole life to the club in some shape or form.

Great thing about Mourinho is that everyone on the caf is now expert on him, same as we were on van Gaal when he joined us. I have learned in recent weeks that every one of our players is either great fit for Mourinho or completely opposite of what Mourinho likes in some players. Except Mata, everyone knows Mourinho doesn't like him. Cannot wait for the tactics talk during the summer.

I think Mourinho is smart and experienced enough to know that he will have to make do with some of the players already here because changing too much in one go will have us playing catch up for the rest of the season. So the expected clear out may not materialize at all and people are going to be disappointed. I could see him keeping the squad as it is, adding four or five starters and relegating the rest to squad roles.

I am looking forward to us signing Mourinho, only because it will be more likely to get Ibra then.

Anyone who expects or wants another mass clear out is clearly nuts, the squad is thin on the ground as it is. We currently need to add 4-5 players, to sell another 8-10 like the last two summers would mean signing 10-14 players which would be mental.

I could see him keeping the squad as it is, adding four or five starters and relegating the rest to squad roles.

One or two will have to go but basically yeah that would be the smart move. And what Van Gaal should have done also, he gutted the squad and didn't really improve it while also making it much smaller in the process which has lead us to the mess we are in.

Difference is though is that Jose has managed in the Premiership for 6 seasons so most big United fans should be experts on him. With LVG we really had no idea.

If we really do get Mou, will that means no more Mata?
Depends if we can find someone to pay Mata's wages. People talk about the difficulty of selling Rooney, but Mata could be just as difficult for Mourinho to shift, given he is apparently on £140k a week. If reports are to be believed, that's the same as Ozil and only slightly less than Silva, both of whom are much better players.

Mata's performances at United haven't justified his wages, and that's always a problem when it comes to selling someone. He's clearly a lovely bloke but noone's going to pay £140k a week for a nice guy, are they?

Look at the various options. The other five members of Europe's financial elite - City, Chelsea, Bayern, Barcelona and Madrid - don't need him. Inter and AC probably can't afford him, and he's too young (and smart) to go to the USA or China.

The only option I can think of is a return to Valencia, who seem to have more money than sense, a bit like a poor man's United. But whether Neville (or the new manager) would want him is doubful, given they're in desperate need of some stronger personalities.

The only option might be to let him run his contract down and leave for nothing in 2018.

I expect the most likely outcome knowing us, is shipping him off for a paltry fee, to help smooth things along. Potentially with us throwing a couple of million in to make up for the wage shortfall.

Sheringham is angling for mourinho. I think everyone who does not have any friendship with giggsy is favouring Mourinho.

There's another article saying he has £250m to spend according to the sun.

In that case, the figure probably includes wages, bonuses, appearance fees, the players' life savings and potential scratch card wins.
