Ok considering he is only linked with us....if he said that then it sounds like a done deal.

I think that its a done deal and he will arrive in Summer.

My understanding is that Mourinho and our CEO are currently looking to bring in a DOF (rubber stamped by Mourinho).
It is also clear that Mourinho has been to plenty of scouting missions in recent weeks, watching many different games/teams.
There was also a rumour recently that one Spanish club had been in contact with Jose and Jose told them that he would be buying one of their players for MUFC next season.
Someone high up at Inter Milan also let slip that Jose is happy that he is joining MUFC next season.
Di Marzio has repeatedly stated that the deal is done.

I can't beleive that each and every single one of these rumours/stories are fabricated. Its a done deal.

Who was it?

Worth pointing out that July would tie in with the idea of him being unable to start work this season due to his Chelsea contract.

To think people argue against Mourinho because of his style of football. What have you been watching for the last 3 years? Jesus christ it's actually unreal how bad we are.

Hope to hell he's on his way to us and not Madrid or Everton.....:D

Who was it?

For the life of me I can't remember which player it was.
It was in a Spanish club and I believe the player was Spanish. Not a big name Galactico.
I'll see if I can dig out the news story.

Someone get the Jose signal up atop Carrington, we need this to happen, we don't just need a manager we need an experienced winner to build a competitive squad and inject some winning mentality that has been drained out of the club since Fergie retired.

If he can't start until July hopefully we'll have transfer instructions in place.

July is a bit late for my liking. I'd much rather he takes over from the fraud the second the final whistle blows in our last game. Not like he needs a holiday after taking half the season off. At the very least I hope he's actively involved in transfers throughout the summer.

Despite Manchester United's poor run of form and the pressure mounting on van Gaal, the "Mourinho to United" rumours have been a bit quiet of late. It might be wishful thinking on my behalf, but I do think Jose might not be coming to United. I just have a feeling that the board are split about him and the majority don't think he's the one. Personally I believe a coach like Marcelo Bielsa would be much more suited to United, and he's available as well.

Did you not see the tweets on the last page? I think it's much a sure thing at this point that Mourinho will be our next manager

The reason a lot of those who don't want Jose is because he's antics.. This guy is even crazier not to mention hasn't had a success spell for a few years now. He is a second/third tier manager when we need a top.

The club are already wary of Mourinho's "antics" Bielsa would give poor Sir Bobby a conniption fit.

It mentions that he'll join his new club in July. Why are a lot of people on this forum so sure that he will be going to Man United. It's not a done deal as far as I'm concerned.

He's only linked to us and it would be strange for him to set a date for his next appointment unless its already lined up. The links have been nonstop from various sources and have the likes of Inters director commenting that he is coming here with zero response from the club to say it isn't true.

There's no way the club is going to go for the likes of Bielsa with someone who has won the PL 3 times available. If there's another mess up next year the Addidas deal is getting cut which is why I'm sure they won't do anything stupid like hire Giggs or take a big risk with someone not proven in this league.

He'll get inside Carrington in a laundry basket, as always.

Appointing Mourinho makes so much sense, it's obvious we won't. He may be the special one, but we're special too. 'special'.

I really hope there is a deal in place for him to take over in the summer if not then we're in far bigger trouble than we currently are.

When SAF retired Mourinho wouldn't have been my first choice, but having said that at the time i thought he was probably the best personality wise to succeed Ferguson. Jose would have did well with Ferguson's squad i think he would have added to it and carried on that winning mentality SAF built up, pity they are almost all gone now.

If we do appoint him this summer the last 3 years would have been a monumental waste of time and money in hindsight. To think we appointed a clown like Moyes to succeed Alex Ferguson (Jesus i still cringe at the mere thought of it), should have got Jose in 2013. He was an obvious choice to everyone but a few key people at United.

If Jose was appointed after SAF we wouldn't be in this mess today.
Bad decision after bad decision has been made by the board, it's time all of them are under review...especially Woodward.

That's how it has been and I worry we will continue to make mistakes, I have no faith in this board at all, they're clueless.

Definitely, the infuriating aspect about us fecking up Ferguson's succession is that the club had been through it before with Busby.

When Busby retired the obvious choice was probably Clough, i can vaguely remember reading somewhere a few at the club didn't want him because of his brash personality and he wasn't even considered. They appointed McGuinness instead who had no business being in the job. Roll on 40 years and the club made the exact same mistake after Ferguson with Moyes and Mourinho.

How the feck did a load of intelligent and successful football and businessmen not see that appointing Moyes would be a massive blunder when everyone else with even a bit of common sense did.

It's baffling.

We will slide into mediocrity if we do not sign a manager like Mourinho. Steady the ship while you still have a chance to Woodward. Those tractor deals won't last forever and neither will you at this rate.

Do the glazers themselves have to go before things really start to improve?

Can't say for sure. I think they would be open to letting someone advice them on how to run the club. So, either those people advising them are doing a bad of it or the Glazers think they know best and they have a plan in place that they will stick too.

I do think a DoF would be a big help to the club and the board. I hope they realise that.
