Not sure how much they played differently because the only tactically different team he had was at Inter, where he played Milito and Eto together. Even there he started to push Eto wider to accommodate his single striker system and asking Eto to play predominantly as a winger. There's a certain degree of flexibility and fluidity to most top managers like Pep, Ferguson and Ancelotti who succeed for a long time, I don't see that with Mourinho.
He's the kind of guy who buys a new house, brings down the entire house and rebuilds it just like his old house because knows no other alternative. Mourinho managed to do well for so long because he overwhelmingly bought proven talent and once his motivation skills begin to wane or if a player or two under-performs like they had at Chelsea, everything goes down the drain for him.
