Would you be happy to see Jose Mourinho become next United manager?

Good to see the joyless shithawks at RI have pissed all over yesterday's "it's a done deal " with their usual 'everything is fecked and we're going to lift the lid' diatribe. God, it's boring. They're boring. Even when we were the best team in the world, they were still giving it large about some soap-operatic villainy afoot upstairs at United. They're a fecking cartoon, that lot.

Sadly it's the wrong side of RedIssue.

Personally, I think it would be a bit stupid. Banning fake transfer accounts and stuff I get but, if it's United related and it gets a discussion going then I don't really see the harm in it. Let's face it, the last two hours in this thread have been more entertaining than the entire season :D

I don't particularly believe all of those tweets but, I certainly do believe Fergie hates Mourinho and hated Mourinho having a good record against him.

Same, especially his first stint at Chelsea. Fergie can be a great spoofer when he wants to be.

I think it was a case of keeps your friends close, your enemies closer with regards to Mourinho.

Indeed

But they haven't got a choice now but to appoint a proven candidate. They will just have to suck up whatever Giggs and his friends say in the media, and all the new manager has to do is win :D - as what can they say then? Fans would turn on them if they keep criticising someone who keeps winning. It's not like with LVG and Giggs wouldn't be in the dressing room to influence anyone (if indeed he's been doing that). The manager would really be in control here.
Mate, I agree with you. I've wanted Mourinho since SAF announced his retirement, every day since has been lost opportunity for glory in my opinion.

And you're right, these dynamics only exist because Moyes and LVG both have utterly failed in even the most basic of expectations from a modern day Manchester United manager.

But as we have all already said, our next managerial choice is absolutely critical - the higher ups cannot get the choice wrong. And unfortunately there are very different opinions from hugely influential people at the club.

As I stated on one of my earlier posts, I think everyone has the best interests of the club at heart. I don't believe that SAF is anti Mourinho because he fears it will reduce his legacy. Nor do I believe that Woodward is money first and football second. There are just different opinions on the best way forward, and some previous promises made to Giggs which is muddying the process.

Certain Twitter accounts are banned here for transfer bollocks, I don't see the difference.
I think there's a difference between banning random twitter accounts for making up transfer stories and United fanzines for reporting on things going on in our board. What's the point in banning them? Just to stop discussion?

Yep that's reasonable.Only hope Giggs doesn't hold the club to any promise made which in hindsight was rather stupid (if they did that). He must see that the club cannot afford another risk. It's not going to be pretty either way, but that's why Woody is paid the big bucks - he needs to tell Ryan and Co how it's going to be and they will just have to accept it as frankly there's no question that we can take anymore risks at this point.

Not really, jesus...

Why do they hate him so much?

Part of the anti-Glazer stance, among other things, I'd imagine. They consider Fergie a Glazer apologist for one thing - and hold him partly responsible for the takeover (Rock of Gibraltar and so forth) itself, for another.

It just seems to me that they mostly exist to try and create controversy and get attention (their Twitter account, I can't speak for the website or anything else), and I don't really see their posts as reliable reporting but more of bait to hook people that seem to thrive on reacting to that kind of overly sensational rubbish.

Edit: And to also suck people in and give them money.

At this point, if Giggs was to get the hump and leave, I don' think there would be too many sympathetic voices from United fans.

It's like a 20 year old that's been a great son is still living in his family home. Everyone is wondering when he's going to move out and start a life for himself but he just quietly carries on with his chores waiting to inherit the house. Meanwhile all his friends are long moved out and are either renting or saving for a mortgage.

Next thing you know, his parents are looking for a buyer for the house and he gets upset, packs up his stuff and moves out saying "FINE I'LL FIND MY OWN HOUSE AND DO IT WITHOUT YOU. I DON'T NEED YOU!"

The parents, the rest of his family and his friends all have a similar response..... "Well.... no shit. That's kind of what you're suppose to do".

That's what's so inexplicable.

But then again he did choose Moyes.........
Plus, he's not a good judge of managers - of players no question - but managers - he seems to choose them based on how friendly they are with him...

But I read somewhere that Fergie claims he didn't pick Moyes but recommend him below others such as pep, Jose and klopp.

Also, we've got it on good authority that SAF and SBC have no say and Ed basically calls all the shots. Surely Giggs would already be manger if not. ....actually, why LVG at all and not Giggs from the moment Moyes left?

One downside to Jose's appointment would be that we've to see the face of that prick Rui Faria every week.

The article says Mendes has been pushing for Mou to be appointed immediately, but the club is waiting for summer to make the deal. What the living hell are they waiting for exactly? If Mou's up for starting work straight away what's the point in letting LVG limp on?

Most (all?) papers do that, would end up banning everyone.

Anyway I don't even find it that unbelievable that Ferguson wants to retain some control at United and Moyes/Giggs is a route to that. Hiring Moyes over Mourinho is still one of the most baffling decisions this club has made in recent memory and the reasons in the tweets don't seem that far fetched to me. Wouldn't be surprised if we are stuck in limbo because of the board being split on Giggs and Mourinho.

Because who else is out there? keep VG? appoint Giggs?
You say it like there is no other managers out there though. Who will Chelsea appoint? And will they not be competitive now that City have got Pep, due to getting rid of the only manager that "we" have to get because of Pep going to City?

That's what luckhurst 'thinks'. Another journo will 'think' that LvG is still here because the board wants to penny pinch. Another journo will 'think' it's because Mourinho wants to only start in the summer. And so on

Curious here.....

If Mourinho did come, anyone think he would bring Drogba in as a coach, like he did at Chelsea?
I don't think Mourinho brought Drogba in as a coach? I remember seeing Drogba and Hiddink sitting together with Abramovich so that was after Mourinho left

The Red Issue stuff sounds so over the top, its quite funny. That shit could be made into a film. Actually "The Americans vs the Class of 92" sounds like a really shit Guy Ritchie film.

If Jose comes in, he should bring Roy Keane with him as his assistant. Just for the shits and giggles of it all.
