Serious question, but why do you believe RI claims are true? Apologies if you've answered this elsewhere...

Simply because it makes logical sense to me, given all the things that have transpired that we know about since SAF retired.

if you fill in the blanks with a touch of conspiracy sauce, it's easy to end up with the RI assertions.

there have been literally 1000s of posts on Redcafe this season lambasting the board and higher ups for their supposed indecision or incompetence. Respected media have also speculated on this too.

So I find it odd that when a group connected with the club make the exact same assertions, some people here are now dismissive of it as deluded conspiracy.

As I said, RI are not making any new claims that we as Redcafe have not already made and debated at length.

Why would Woodward not want Giggs to quit? If Giggs quits, then evil Fergie's backdoor entry into United's managerial dealings is gone. So, seeing as Woodward apparently wants to stifle Fergie's influence, appointing Mourinho and having Giggs walk is perfect for him.
Also, sacking LVG looks bad to whom exactly? If anything, the longer LVG stays, the worse Woodward looks.

I myself am uneasy as well - taking everything into account. But without evidence, I'm just hoping it's not true. And if it is, Ed needs to grow a pair and get on with it. No more wasting time with politics - just make a swift decision regardless of who gets upset - what can SAF (if he's really involved to this extent) really do to anyone on the board? They just have to suck up any 'bad publicity' from SAF's media friends and just get on with it. Otherwise, everyone will lose in the end.

They are suggesting that in the midst of that Woodward wants to retain ties with the Co92 'brand'

I wish we could ban RedIssue tweets from here, they're worse than any of the transfer forum blacklist. Wouldn't surprise me if it's run by Liverpool fans.

Why use logic to interpret fiction?:)

What brand? Not even a rhetorical question. Afaik, United have never made or used the Co92 as the face of the club lately, they are only cited in the media now. The only member of the Co92 who could actually probably help the club's brand is Beckham, so I'm not sure I get what the "Co92 brand" brings to United.
I mean if Giggs walks, what's the worst they could do, become pundits and never say anything nice about United again?

Because it's always better to have everyone on board.

Giggs resigning from the club is an unwelcome PR ruckus anyone would want to avoid.

I see how riled some fans get whenever Moyes open his mouth. Just imagine the backdrop if Giggs and all his CO92 cronies started briefing against the club because they felt cheated and wronged. It would be venomous, loud and sustained and would completely engulf the CEO and manager of the club.

Its seems as though Giggs was virtually promised the managers job after LVG leaves. The context may have changed with LVGs failure but if Giggs still feels entitled but does not get the job, and then leaves feeling cheated... Well it's not a good scenario for anyone.

If RIs assertions are true, this is the stuff of nightmares and it will derial the club for years to come. As some one already commened above, not dissimilar to The dynamics from The Game of Thrones!!

Exactly, Beckham is the only one who is marketable. He has everything. The others were good footballers, but are either bald, ugly, short, old looking or gormless.

It makes very little sense.

For this to work we have to presuppose that Fergie has considerable - actual - power or influence to begin with. There is zero proof that he does, however.

It's like the conspiracy theorists have forgotten, or are unaware of, the basic realities and features of the Glazer ownership.

Seems like RI has acquired some conspiracy theory expert recently, someone look for KingEric is he still here.

But they haven't got a choice now but to appoint a proven candidate. They will just have to suck up whatever Giggs and his friends say in the media, and all the new manager has to do is win :D - as what can they say then? Fans would turn on them if they keep criticising someone who keeps winning. It's not like with LVG and Giggs wouldn't be in the dressing room to influence anyone (if indeed he's been doing that). The manager would really be in control here.

I'm just wondering if some of our players are looking at these things on twitter:lol:

Out of all of it, I do believe the bit about Fergie hating Mourinho and hating losing to him so often. Rest of it is up for speculation though

Same, especially his first stint at Chelsea. Fergie can be a great spoofer when he wants to be.

I think it was a case of keeps your friends close, your enemies closer with regards to Mourinho.

I think this narrative of SAF basically being Sauron and Giggs being Saruman is absurd and I love it.

I really don't think so tbh. If Giggs resigns and Mourinho comes in, sure it will be hailed as "Mourinho turning things inside out", but it'll only be headlines for a week or so, before everyone moves on to something else like Mourino finally landing his "dream" job. I definitely don't think it'll be a ruckus at all, at least not as big of a ruckus worth damaging the club's future for.

Well I also think this mythical power that the Co92 hold with the press is very exaggerated. There isn't much they can do, and any anti-United briefing they attempt, will look worse for them than for the club. The only reason why Scholes' LVG comments got so much airtime is because LVG wasn't doing well. Do you think anyone could care about Scholes' negative opinions on LVG if the club was winning? Nope. The same way if Mourinho comes in and does well, no one would care about the Co92's loud and sustained complaints in the press. The best way to shut the Co92 up if Giggs walk would be to win.

Also, RI makes it seem as if Fergie's mindset is "either I get my way, or the club burns", something which I can't agree with or envisage.

If the players and LVG are so precious as to be so badly stung by criticism that it affects their work, then they're in the wrong professions. I didn't let it affect me when my every touch was booed while playing for a school football team; mind you, I was 26 and everyone else was 9 but the point holds.
Hands down the funniest poster on this forum
