BBC Impartiality

She was adding context by relaying what Stanley Johnson's friends said. Canceling her based on that seems a bit much.

It’s another comment where she favours the Tories; she has a reputation for it. And for the comment yesterday, it clearly had an affect as the BBC have had to issue a statement clarifying the remarks made.

It's slippery as we then are accused of being an echo chamber.

Sure, but step back and re-read where the thread was going. It's a thread about BBC impartiality, and i'd say for close to 2 pages now it's been about responding to some vague rants by a new user that just added nothing. We can be mindful of being an echo chamber and not entertaining barely coherent posts.

Anyway... on topic

Linekar says language.

Conservatives say : concentrate on the nazi bit.

Sunak says : sorry FIL, any jobs at Infosys.

Sleeze and Corruption.

Does anyone watch MOTD for the punditry? Used to send me to sleep in my youth (Alan Hansen days). No studio presence could be the making of the show!
I certainly don't care for the studio part and find myself skipping through when I watch it but I doubt this helps the show. MOTD has longer highlights than those on Sky's Youtube page but if this was a weekly thing they be competing directly with Youtube, on videos that are accessible less than an hour after each game has finished. If the Youtube package allowed for extended highlights it would probably kill MOTD as a show.

Why stay up or record MOTD if you can just watch the same extended highlights online when you want.

The punditry and analysis is a selling point for the show even if it's not generally considered as being top quality.

You need to be careful about what you are doing in here mate.

Edit: Seems like you've been told ;)
What the hell? So I'm the one making the thread (albeit a while back), posting all the links from twitter as I follow the story and engaging in debate. While telling others I don't think we should be personally insulting members or telling them to feck off.

And because I know Mic Fin from a forum 10 years ago (and haven't spoken 1 to 1 since.) suddenly he's my friend according to everyone?

As for the last paragraph you posted. It's tongue in cheek. As I said on other forums we have right and left wing members and the right wing regularly use slurs such as woke, snowflake, cancel culture on more left wing members like myself. Given the irony that its the right being "offended" and gunning for someone to be cancelled. Sarcastically speaking I've enjoyed winding them up on another forum. That's just banter and on a forum different from this one. A bit different from openly ganging up on someone telling them to feck off.

But I'm the wind up merchant? Have to say I've done well here. I made the thread 4 months ago and played the long game all for a massive troll when Gary Linekar would get cancelled (temporarily)

Cool story and all, but maybe I should ignore what you are saying just like your friend did to me and yet you still continued to back him up and act as if it's "the forums" fault?

Your little over reaction here certainly speaks to why that is, not to mention the fact you troll forums including political ones. Now I'm sure that makes you feel good about yourself and all that, really must be great fun for you, but on a subject like this and with someone so blatantly myopic and here just to do the whole "oh woe ist me, they are everywhere!" thing people like him do, then I'm not sure why you feel it's suddenly wrong for people to assume you must be on a wind up. Especially when you literally said you were.

Am I alone in thinking there is no "other side" to domestic abuse and there should be no context provided? Especially when the context is totally wrong in the first place
No you're not, there is only one side, it's wrong and there's no context in which it is ever acceptable or right

Be funny if we hear some Lineker chants around the grounds tomorrow that gets broadcast on motd. Or even better if they make the decision to cut them.

This is just so unbelievably dumb it makes you wonder if there's some secret anti government high up in the BBC who's goaded them into it. Someone there must have been able to forsee it would backfire like this.

You mean your friend (seeing as knowing someone from a forum makes them your friend now?).

Backing them up? Please provide the quotes. I specifically remember saying that people shouldn't reduce to personal insults. I stand by that. Do you disagree?

I troll politics forums? You realise other football forums have a politics section. Have you read my post history in this "current events" forum? Go take a read right now. Show me this trolling.

The trolling I believe you are referring to is me having banter with people who I debate, yes debate not tell to feck off, politics with. Its not personal. If you're interested though drop me a pm it's a public forum and you can have the username and find this big bad troll.

As for blaming the forum. I think you'll find I simply said there aren't many right wing people here and by telling others who do post a different view to feck off then it may put others off with similar views from posting. Being a minority or having an opinion in the minority can make it daunting to partake in a discussion or join a group who have opposing views of yours. It applies in multiple walks of life, not just this forum.

And then to say I've had an over reaction. It's not an over reaction and if anything it has very little to do with you as you didn't make the comments I called out. And the three people who I did were all receptive and decent in their replies to me. You've somehow just jumped on the band wagon as some sort of forum white Knight of redcafe, and appear to have got very defensive thinking everything is personally about this forum.

You repeatedly refer to someone I know from a forum as a friend to try and twist the story. Despite me correcting you multiple times. But to put the record streak @MIC_FIN wasn't my biggest fan.

You then again falsely suggest I troll politics forums. Based on what? And see if its the paragraph I literally explained in my last reply. Then just bore off.

And now you've once again lied and said I have said I'm on the wind up in this thread. What?

And pathetic childish little slurs like this based on once again you making stuff up

"Now I'm sure that makes you feel good about yourself and all that, really must be great fun for you,"

All this tirade of abuse and you misconstructing what I've said to create a narrative which fits your stereotype that you have of me. Not based in the slightest on my contributions to this thread.

Anyway I invite the 3 people who I quoted and said I don't agree with being personal or telling people to feck off. Maybe they can tell me if they think I'm on some fantasy fecking wind up that you've contrived together. @BD @africanspur @berbatovwhateveryournameis

There's a typo in the thread title.

No offence, but no chance I'm reading all that. I'm not even sure why you'd get angry enough to write so much.

Anyway your mate has been threadbanned now, so we should move on.

I just think they are that dumb. I've seen first hand how they operate over the years, nothing surprises me with them. We've always been told about how we are lucky to have them and how we should appreciate paying that tax to fund them, but I've never bought into it.

We can move on when you apologise for speaking shite.

You can say whatever the feck you like about me on the general forums, don't give a feck. But I take politics very seriously and I won't have you bad mouthing me and painting a false narrative just to try and prevent yourself from looking like a trolling plonker looking for an argument.

Which ironically makes this paragraph rather funny

"Now I'm sure that makes you feel good about yourself and all that, really must be great fun for you,"

The BBC have really fecked up. They timed the whole announcement specifically hoping it would all blow over, over the weekend, and that there would be a new talking point come Monday.

I've got a feeling that this isn't going to finish this weekend and it's only put the Conservative ties to some of the directors further under the magnifying glass and under more scrutiny.

Tim Davies decision to stay on during the ongoing investigation doesn't help at all either. Fully imploding.

I used to trust them a bit but now I feel how naive I was, they're nothing more than propoganda machine for their side.
The BBC used to be a fantastic institution. It has been taken over by the very people that want to destroy it. And now oddly enough the trust people had in it has been decimated leading to those who used to defend it to want it to be cancelled. It’s almost like that was the plan all along. It needs saving not removing like Murdoch and his mob of cnuts want.

time to do away with it

it's just a political tool for the government and people shouldn't have to pay for that

This.
It was a beacon of light in the world. And can be again.

Spot on!

Remember when people continually argued that the BBC was an institution to be proud of, worth paying a licence fee for, and so much better than any possible alternative?

Feeling rather glad to have never contributed financially to that steaming turd of a broadcaster my entire adult life.
Sounds like the Tory plan to close it down is working then.

It only works because their news output is full of presenters happy to peddle bullshit for six figures a year. You could sack every management member tomorrow, Laura Kuenssberg still has a weekly show to peddle her propaganda. The graphics team who came up with the SuperSunak animation would still not bother asking if what they were creating was akin to North Korean television.

Look at ITN. Nobody would claim it is run by Tories, but Peston happily became the second loudest peddler of the great 'Matt Hancock's spad was involved in a politically motivated assault by bussed in Labour activists' lie. Only to follow it up by also protecting the identity of a source that lead to him looking like a propaganda merchant who repeats any old shit the Tories tell him. The Tories don't hire his bosses but as the Hancock texts revealed he still makes the top two outlets for their bullshit.

Exactly. They know exactly what he's doing.

Would Lineker take jn one of those refugees?
Would he take in one in his own home?
Did he get to vet the person coming?
Ah but does he live near a hotel where the refugee centres are?
Ah if I don't see a picture of a bearded guy wkth a turban and beard, it didn't happen.

They deserve to be treated with contempt.
Agreed.

He's at best a xenophobic idiot.

At worst he likes to go around beating up anyone who looks like an "imgrunt".

Not sure if serious

They can't be serious. Look at any group of cnuts from history and they all do the same thing. They use dehumanising language to get the mob on side. Before the genocide in Rawanda, the Hutu used to refer to the Tutsi as cockroaches in broadcasts all the time. The Nazis did the same thing with the jews. They were often refereed to as being diseased animals that needed to be put down. And then going further to liken them to parasites that presented a threat to German bloodlines. Anywhere you look, the first tool used by oppressors is language. Thats what the Tories did here, and theres no escaping it.

But why use this language when it's so obvious what they are saying? Well, because they are going to lose the next election. They can't say "vote for us, look how great the country is!" because its all shit. Theres strikes everywhere, theres cops raping women, theres a cost of living crisis, the place is a fecking mess. But what the can do is create an enemy, and present themselves as the Britains hero fighting on the front lines against "the swarms" trying to "break in". They have been doing this for years. Even Cameron got called out on it during his time of trying to side step questions of their shit governance. They did the same to the disabled people, claiming it was for them because of all the benefit cheats out there stealing. And what did they do? The went after the disabled, and changed what it meant to be disabled in order get the help disabled people needed and then trotted out bullshit language about "scroungers" and "thieves" to get the public on side. Meanwhile, the DWP was ignoring that their new WCA had caused 600 suicides inside 3 years. And over 2300 deaths of people they had found fit for work inside 5 years.

Torys have always read from the nazi playbook, utterly fecking bizarre how it's taken this long for people to notice. Who knew Gary Lineker, of all people, would be the guy to open up people eyes to it finally.

What's the context? I'm not saying we should tolerate whichever injustice you're referring to.

I said people shouldn't reduce themselves to pety insults and the best way to find compromise and to settle difference is through dialogue.

Without dialogue nothing will get sorted and your poster seems to push division by grouping people into tolerant or intolerant and basically saying you shouldn't tolerate the side you disagree with? What does that achieve? In Russia and Ukraines case, war.

It's quite fitting we are discussing this in this topic given it is related to freedom of speech. And whether we agree with it or not, everyone's voice is equal.

So no I disagree. While I don't agree with mic fins opinions, I will not tell him to feck off are refuse to tolerate him for having opposing views. Id rather debate with him and hope that I could somehow influence him to see a different perspective or at least get him to consider alternative views. At least that way something positive could be achieved.

In honour of the late @MIC_FIN

Without the monarchy, parliament and such, most of you wouldn't have been born. We wouldn't be living in a free country. Some lax people here taking utter shite.

RIP QE2

I see the thread overtaken again by people who begrudge other people paying respects to someone they have looked up to all their life. Even enjoying Christmas Dinner with her on the box.

Let them enjoy it I say. Rule Britannia.

Born and bred in England. If some of you lot can't even respect the monarchy you live with, Not under. That's your problem.

Royal Navy
Royal Air force
Royal Army

Why paint this thread with all your jeasous and/or complete toxic comments?

Can always feck off and live in Russia or some shit?

The idea that the BBC has to present both sides is a fecking joke as well. If a man smashes his wife’s nose up - he’s a wife beater and he doesn’t deserve a rebuttal.

There's nothing the Tories won't do to try and distract from their awful, scummy policies. As much as the BBC are a joke for caving to right wing pressure, I hope people remember what this is really about. There's a degree of irony in the Tories taking umbrage with the 1930s Germany remark and then attempting to censor the person who's said it. Idiots.

The BBC have underestimated the reaction to this. Lots of common folk are not idiots and will support Lineker.
