His best years aren't behind him. He is in his prime. He is what 29 going to be 30 soon? He has got at least 3 good years in him. His motivation? Maybe a new challenge? He has won everything there is to win with Bayern.

Hardly his prime, I'd say that was 3 or 4 years ago. He's nowhere near the same player IMO. Also his injuries have had a massive impact on his game. I question at 30 when a player is looking for a new challenge. I'd suggest maybe a final big contract would be more accurate.

Isn't he earning £12-15m at Bayern even now? And so what if he comes here for more money? I could care less as long as we get him.

Like I said IMO, we are not signing the player of 3 or 4 years ago. This is a very different type of player. Plus the injuries have taken their toil on his ability.

Also going forward, I like to see someone a lot younger be signed.

The 12-13 season clearly was his best season in his career. He struggled with injuries since then, but if he stays healthy he's easily in his prime for 2 or 3 more years.

We don't pay that much money, that's insane. He earns around €10m.

They have many better options on his position at Bayern while we didn't have anyone as good as Giggs or Scholes when they were in their late 20's. I don't think Pep can guarantee him that he will play a lot next season. He could still be one of the best players at another club, for example at United so there is a strong reason why he should ask for leave. I'd love him here, he is a monster!

I understand. I think that even though he might be surplus to requirements given the kind of squad BM have, the BM board/Pep would face severe backlash from the fans if they sold him. Besides, I don't think they'll get a huge amount for him anyway which will add on to the pressure on the board.

I'd take him in a heartbeat - he's still got a good 2-3 years in him but I don't think he should be the ONLY signing. He still needs to adjust to the PL and concerns about his injury might make the deal sour if there is one.

Cant believe people are arguing if he's worth it at 30. Its all about injuries. If we can keep him fit, he'd probably be the best CM in the league for the next 3yrs.

It's been a dream of mine for us to sign Schweinsteiger since about 2006/2007 and I'd still take him at the drop of a hat. Injuries is the only issue, his ability is not in doubt, he's still World Class.

If we could get him for 20M or less I would love to have.A fantastic player when fit.

We bought Rvp at a similar age for 24M and he has already repaid that in spades.Schweinsteigers injury problems arn't even as bad as RVP's.

Reminder:Schweinsteiger is younger than Toure who absolutely bossed the premier league this season. With proper management Bastian could give us 3 or 4 excellent years. An absolute bargain for 20M.

If we look to a guy that is approaching his 30s and has been riddled with injuries for a year, as our answer, I'll laugh.

Riddled with injuries? You're overexaggerating the injuries he's had.

Considering the campaign we are in for which ranges from desperate for the top 4 to potential title winners having a player of his quality at a bargain price would be priceless forgive the pun.

An utter meastro in the middle, younger than a Frank Lampard who is still considered a top top midfielder, younger than Yaya who is still a world beater. I have my reservations about his ability to handle the Premier league, someone as injury prone as him is going to get absolutely battered in the middle and he'd be an every game starter immediately replacing the likes of Fellaini and Rooney who "do a job" in the middle.

He is an absolute world class player, first name on the team sheet at Bayern and for Germany but injuries and rotation have scuppered his recent form.

At 10-15m it's a sniff and a no brainer. Now get a solid creative partner for him, perhaps Koke? Ideally the complete midfielder in Vidal with a cheap backup say Calsie and we'd be laughing I'm the middle.

So he's went from one of the best in the world to not good enough for us in a year, apparently. Utter nonsense.

He'd be a fantastic signing.

He's coming off the back of an injury ridden season. We can't afford to take punts like this, our next midfield signings have to be absolutely spot on. Feels like we'd be taking a shot in the dark before we've even begun with Schweinsteiger.

Funny to think that Schweinsteiger is actually less than 3 years older than Cesc.

The only remote way this happens is if Kroos commits to a long term contract before the end of the window. Bayern can't sell Bastian to us and then have Kroos leave on a free transfer the following summer.

Schweinsteiger wouldn't want to be sitting on the bench for bayern, chances of this happening is there. Lvg absolutely loves him.

I refuse to get my hopes up this time! Schweinsteiger is one of my favourite players and I would be absolutely delighted if we signed him. We might have a chance with LvG being our manager and all but I have no faith in our CM signing capabilities

Unreal some of the reactions to whether Schweinsteiger would be good for us or not. People seem to be using a ridiculous amount of hyperbole regarding his age. This is a league where Steven Gerrard, Paul Scholes and Frank Lampard played well into their 30s and looked tremendous doing it. We'd get 5 years out of him. He's fantastic. If we got Schweinsteiger (a big IF in my opinion) I'd be stumped to think of many players more suited to this club than him. He'd be a awesome player for us. Being 29 means absolutely nothing. I'd have him over Fabregas any day of the week.

I just don't see this happening, I thought he was Bayern through and through, and is pretty much their most important midfielder when fit.

His age isnt an issue. There have been many top class CM players who perform well into there 30's such as Lampard, Gerrard, Scholes, Giggs, Pirlo, Xavi...... the thing these players have in common is that they are top class players as is Schweinsteiger.

We are in the process of rebuilding the squad so we need some top quality players to supplement the youth we already have and are likely to bring in. He would automatically be much better than what we currently have and would improve us immensely. For a price of £10 million, even if he only gave us 3 good years, would be an absolute bargain whilst we looked for a longer term option.

Bayern take pride in their local talents sticking around and Schweinsteiger is held in high esteem there so it would be incredibly difficult to pull off I feel. Seems like it's between Pep and Bayern board

Its just paper talk, we've even been linked with Suarez ffs.

I see Bastian as a good stop gap. We're beyond the point of finding the perfect CM for us right now. We should worry about getting back into the top 4 and with that achieved it will be much easier to bring qualit players to the club

Just out of curiosity what would make you believe it's serious interest? A bid?
No, its bullshit. After the debacle we went through between him and Evra, that would just be pure insanity on our part. Plus it would put the club into disrepute signing someone as despicable as Suarez after his history.

bastian bit an opponent and made racist insults towards another? ;)

Would be wonderful if Woody could make a big signing before the start of the WC and Schweini would have to be the one name that not only do we have a realistic chance of getting but a name that would set the imagination racing again as to what may be possible next season

Baffled to hear people turning their noses up at Bastian. The general in midfield we have been missing for years. He's 29, not 35.

He was my muppet signing last season. This season will do just fine though. get it done woody.

Turn down Kroos and Fabregas on the vague chance that Schweiny fancies leaving the team of his dreams for a punt on a new league for a struggling team.
Excellent.
