Beggars like us in the midfield department can't be choosers. The previous decent midfielder we signed was Hargreaves. We have to sign quality players, and I'll put up a good argument if anyone thinks Schweinsteiger isn't a top player.

But I have full confidence Woodward is incompetent and this deal won't happen, even though this a realistic transfer.

Anyone watching Germany? He completely changed the game when he came on... Hoping we sign him when more now

I'm not really seeing this as a realistic transfer at all. He's been at Bayern his whole career, is still on 29, they are doing great and we're doing shit. I just don't see it. Maybe I'm just being pessimistic because he's one of my favourite players, I do really I wish it was possible.

He was having sexual intercourse with the ball when he came on. Top player.

Great evening, Croatia are on next, so hopefully Kovaciç watch for me.

On what basis are people considering this plausible? I'm interested - not being critical.

He's a great player, but I just really can't see him wanting to leave Bayern.
I dunno if he grew up as a Bayern fan, but being there is whole career, I just can't see him leaving now

Is there a player we can be linked to without fans reacting as if we've been toiling in the bottom of the 4th tier of English football for the last 6 years, like some peasant club nobody would look at twice?

Pep wants him to pack his bags. For some reason he prefers Kroos, (Martinez) and Lahm in midfield over Schweinsteiger. Plus, his brother is a United fan. Moreover he must be keen on one last big pay check?

I'm clutching at straws to be honest. Just want my club to sign a midfielder of quality.

Even if Pep doesn't want Schweinsteiger Bayern will never sell him, the fans will be furious.

From what I've read, Pep sees Bastian as too slow with ball circulation and hindrance in the overall rhtyhm of the team. There was a stat floating around that in 11 games (I think?) where Bayern without Bastian, had 100% winning record and with him it was around 78%. The argument was that he was a hindrance to overall balance of Pep's team and that may be the case here. If so, it's Pep vs Bayern board.

Midfield balance can have very strong effect on how a team performs. Germany started with a very defensive midfield and as the game went on the midfield changed to become much more creative and attacking

Khedira and Lahm, Germany score 0 goals
Khedira and Kroos, Germany score 1 goal
Schweinsteiger and Kroos, Germany score 5 goals

We came 7th this season because in almost every game we played with a Khedira and Lahm type of midfield - 2 from Carrick/Cleverley/Fletcher/Fellaini

When we beat Leverkseun 5-0, we played with Giggs and Jones as midfield.

Completely agree and I certainly don't think that Pep has enough influence at Bayern to take out, or survive an attempt to offload, Schweinsteiger ! The day he does that will signal the beginning of the end for him there .

Players want to play week in week out. I'm assuming Pep can pick his own side, as such if he doesn't rate a player he doesn't pick him every week.

It's not just about the club and the fans. He might think he isn't going to be a first choice every week and might therefore think its time to move on.

At 29 he won't have a lot more chances to get a big move. If its right that the manager would let him go then long term where does that leave him?

Indeed. It's extremely tedious.

(GSM) - Bayern München midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has revealed that he could leave Allianz Arena this summer.

The Germany international, who is set to play a key role for the national team in South Africa, is currently a part of Louis van Gaal's treble chasing side.

However, the 25-year-old has been given some stick from Bayern fans earlier this season when things were not going according to the Bavarian's way, a factor which could prompt a move.

The midfielder told Bild newspaper: "It was often the case in the first half of the season that I would misplace a pass in the first 20 minutes and I would be whistled at immediately.

"There were even whistles for me at the annual general meeting and that hurt."

He added: "You never know what happens after a World Cup.

"I am really happy that we played such a good season, but to say now that I will always play for Bayern Munich would be wrong.

"Then if you do actually move, it would be an unfair proclamation to make to the fans."

If he did choose to leave Bayern, Schweinsteiger admitted that the Premier League would be an attractive destination.

He added: "When things were not going well, we were being whistled at immediately in the Allianz Arena, but that sort of thing does not happen in England.

"I would like to have the whole stadium behind us even in difficult times."

interesting that this was the first post of this thread, fire those that say he would never leave.

I'm sure it was just before he signed nice big contact though.

Right translate this.

This only seems to have come about since the shambles of last summer where we were linked with and supposedly bid for a few big name players and only ended up with Fellaini (for whatever reason)at the eleventh hour. A few signings this summer will restore our fans confidence in attracting players hopefully.

£32m for a 30 year old (in 2 months). That´s way too much.

Seriously, considering the fact that we don't have a midfield, who really cares how much we're spending on a world class player like schweiny?

This will be a huge waste of time if we try to get Schweinsteiger.
