Bastian Schweinsteiger

It's a coded message for us transfer tarts from SAF: 'Schweinsteiger' really means 'Signed Sneijder'.

I wouldn't be surprised if we do start going after another realistic target just to nudge Inter into selling a bit quicker.

I can't see Inter gambling with £30m.

Ahh, the old smokescreen, very cunning!

Milan are again being associated with a summer move for Bayern Munich ace Bastian Schweinsteiger.

The Rossoneri are expected to sign a midfielder before the window closes and the 26-year-old could be their Mr X mystery signing.

According to reports, the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza outfit are ready to offer €25m for the German international.

“Milan are a great club,” the player is quoted as saying. “Never say never, so we’ll just have to wait and see.”

Milan’s other midfield options are believed to be Fiorentina’s Riccardo Montolivo and Alberto Aquilani of Liverpool.

Didn't he sign a new contract last summer?

Can't see €25m getting him.

Sir Alex Ferguson last night reiterated his recent remarks regarding transfers this Summer by standing on top of the Arndale Tower with a 200 foot megaphone, and declaring: 'Did ya nae feckin hear me? NO MORE SIGNINGS THIS SUMMER'. The message was also broadcast on every major sports news channel, and hundreds of national newspapers, websites and radio programmes.' The message gave hope to the fans posting on internet fan forums who interpreted a completely unrelated story on Bastian Sweinsteiger's proposed move to Milan as a surefire indication that he is imminently about to arrive at Old Trafford. In other news, the Loch Ness Monster was seen posing for photo's for tourists this afternoon

I'd take him... (run away quickly as the mob of naysaying, limped wankers chase with pitchforks and burning Daily Mail torchers...)

I was gonna bump this with one last  but didn't want to get yelled at for bumping but since its done already

Yup he scored but he's now cup tied.

Need to stop bumping this thread people due to the false hope it gives me!

From bbc: Bayern completed 651 passes this evening to Real's 489, with the main man Bastian Schweinsteiger hitting the most, pinging 101 passes to his team-mates.

What a player. Would love to see him at OT, never happening though.

Yeah he would genuinely be perfect. Good on the ball but great defensively as well.

He would cost so much, so agree it probably wouldn't happen. Would piss me off if City got him, or Chelsea could do with him as well and both of those could afford him.

How does that compare to Xavi. An incredible number of passes.

Why do some people here expect loyalty from all of our players, but when it comes to others they just expect them to be instantly lured by money. I'll repeat in here what I said in the other thread...

Schweinsteiger would never go, why would he? He plays for the most successful German team ever, he's been there since he was 14 I think, came through the youth team and he'll probably go down as a legend for them by the time he retires. Bayern are also a team that will always challenge for honours, and will most likely win the champions league this season.

Brilliant player but he won't be going anywhere. Will probably retire there.

I don't think anyone is expecting Schweinsteiger to leave Bayern, nevermind the fact we can actually sign him. Which is a shame really, considering he is exactly the type of player we need.

Was my #1 choice last summer, however unlikely it wouldve been. Quality player and you do feel he would do fantastically well in the Prem.

About 500 passes less than Xavi from what I remember about Tuesday. According to SSN Xavi made over 600 passes against Chelsea, nearly as many as the entire Bayern team.

That game shouldnt really count though, for schweinsteiger to have that many passes in an even 50/50 game is impressive.

Xavi and barcelona were just passing it back and forth in a line, it may sound impressive but the context was pointless really.

100 passes is no big deal.

Carrick hit 73 passes against Everton. Extrapolate that for another 30 minutes and you'd have 97. In a really helter skelter game, where we struggled to maintain possession.

Go back to the Blackburn game and Carrick hit 100 passes in just 90 minutes. Finding a team-mate with 92% of them.

Schweinsteiger's a cracking player on his day but I don't think he was great against Madrid. Over the two legs Kroos impressed me more.

Oh I agree, I was going to add at the end of that post that Schweinsteiger's passing had more purpose and penatration. Xavi made a ridicolous amount of passes but 400 of them must of either been 5 yard passes or balls wide to Alves.

Kroos was good, he was playing some killer balls to Gomez. Thought that Alaba played well too.

Xavi made over 600 passes? Is that a true or like proper facht?

Aye, the ball was in play for 60 minutes, Barcelona had 72% possession, which meant Xavi made a pass every 4 seconds. Impressive.

He didn't really have 600 passes, he had 572 passes but yes, you can say it was close to 600.

That stat sounds like bullshit. How could he have a pass every 5 seconds?

I could of been wrong and I probably am but on SSN yesterday I swear that's what I saw. Somthing like this;

Barcelona passes;

Xavi - 600+
Messi - 102
Ineista - 94
Alves - 89

Etc.

Probably a mistake by Sky as on it's site it's saying they made of total of 745 passes which would mean the rest of the team hardly touched the ball.

Obviously a mistake, Xavi usually does around the 150 mark when he plays the 90 minutes, no way he would just quadruple that.

As Gio said, it would mean a pass every 4 seconds and that just doesn't make sense.
