Bastian Schweinsteiger

is anyone else surprised and disappointed that there is nothing even slightly concrete about making a bid/enquiry for this guy out there? I mean he's basically the perfect fit above all other midfielders we could possibly ask for, yet there is nothing at all.

Sure it'd be rather unlikely to happen but feck me, if we're really going to pay €40m for Sneijder then when not offer it for him too?

EDIT: Sorry for the bump :nervous:

I do agree - he's probably the player I'd like most.

The same reason why there were no megabids for Scholes in his prime.

A good point but Scholes was a lesser known player in a way and never linked with moves away, and he was never at a club whose league is dogshit and have a team vastly underperforming.

Ah, never mind, whatever will be I guess.

I would genuinly believe Messi coming to us more than Schweinsteiger. He doesn't strike me as the player who would leave Bayern, he is loyal and happy. Believe it or not, there are still honorable players around.

Yep, as great a signing he would be, it is and was never going to happen, unless the player himself actually started agitating for his move and even then you can expect City, Chelsea, Madrid and (maybe) Inter to all outbid us - and our only realistic hope would be that we're his "dream" club.

Alot of if's and maybe's...ain't going to happen.

Schweiny's situation is nothing at all like Sneijder's.

I'm surprised there isn't more speculation on ole bastian. Since when is signing a new contract a surefire guarantee that a player won't be sold? Would be ideal for us.

Why does this keep getting bumped for no real reason

Does every post in the transfer/muppet forum need to be an update on a player or some bullshit article from caughtoffside? If you like I could make something up or a post on my twitter which would hold about as much credibility as half the articles on here.

Am bonkers but, I'd take Schweiny for United as much as I'd take Xavi or Iniesta. I think he can stand up the rigors of a PL season and also have the know how to play CL games. He's got strength and also a good set piece taker.

But, the reason we aren't linked to him or for that fact no one else is linked to him seriously is that he is not going to leave Bayern - he doesn't want to and neither does Bayern want to sell him.

Bastian at United would be perfect - just never going to happen.

It looks those posts 'to the Schweinsteiger thread' were serious...

Have to admit, he is the player I would like the most of all the bunch. His passing is magnificent. But our chances of getting him is close to 0.

It's probably already been mentioned, but he had an interview with FourFourTwo in March, when he was included in their 'top 100 players in the world' feature.

He was asked "The tournament won you a lot of fans across the world (World Cup 2010). Do you see yourself playing overseas, say in the Premier League?"

He answered "I have a contract here at Bayern but I do love the atmosphere in the stadiums over in England. When we played Manchester United last year, it was amazing. My brother is a big Manchester United fan and he keeps saying "Go to Man Utd" [laughs] But I say to him "I can't, I can't!" I do love the speed of the game in England though. I am here in Germany until 2012, but we will see what happens. You just never know."

10.32: News from Italy now and AC Milan are ready to make a move for Bastian Schweinsteiger, who will cost somewhere in the region of £31m. Matthieu Flamini could be heading in the opposite direction.

Pffffffffftttttt.

We have more chance of signing Nasri from Arsenal than we have of signing Bastian from Bayern.

No, we have more chance of signing Messi, Xavi as well as Iniesta from Barcelona than getting Schweinsteiger.

He's NOT for sale, has signed an extension. It's beyond me why this is even being discussed here.
