This has the hallmarks of everything that's horrible about transfer season.

1. Unsourced bullshit/clickbait article
2. Other sites linking to the same unsourced bullshit for their own clickbait
3. Exuberant RedCafe twitter bot posts unsourced/clickbait tweet as if it's a legitimate news story
4. RedCafe posters discuss, unsourced/clickbait bullshit as if its real
5. Later, and not surprisingly, the transfer never happens.
6. Shortly thereafter, posters are perplexed why LvG didn't go for Schweinsteiger since we were "linked with him" all summer
7. Other posters then question LvG's historical weakness in the transfer market and point to Schweini as the latest example.

Rinse and repeat....

Aye, it's frustrating. I hope there is some truth in it, but realistically what percentage of players we're linked with are we in for? Very low.

Id be happy to see us sign him for even 15m. A 30 year old winner like him who I still believe has like 3-4 years left at least. I think he would be suited to PL for what we are trying to do under LVG. Anything less than 10 seems laughable but would be great, but I also dont see it happening.

Saying that, Getting him and Schneiderlin for a combined 35m or whatever it is would be great.

I dont think we are close or even near close to signing him, my gut tells me that he will stay in Munich and this is an article based on recent comments made by Bayern legends when asked a direct question.

I think given the chance van Gaal would love him here, but I imagine it'd be very difficult to get him away from Bayern.

It's dead in the water.

I think Schweinsteiger will stay at Bayern.

I refuse to believe we can get him for £7.5 million.

That's all there is to it.

I can't see him leaving Bayern to come here - isn't he like their Gerrard?

Guaranteed to stay then.

He'll probably sign a new contract soon

just the yearly Schweinsteiger rumour.

Nothing to see here.

Quoted for future mockery

Mwahahahhahahahha

when beckenbaur needed to speak out in public then this would have been a show down between swine and guardiola. can't tell what would have been eventually happened within bayern though. they need to sort it out

But..but.. It's Steve Bates! He's reliable!!

you tell me which character can lead this team onward. rooney? this has been told he has been the best player of ours for the last two seasons and we ended with the 7th & the 4th position respectively. provide facts to back up your argument

Character in the literal term is so overrated, quality leads to character. If we have players not only in their prime, that is what leads the team to glory. Having ageing characters does not solve the problem, just leads to more long term problems with the age of the team

you didn't provide an answer to your own original question, pal

I think it's worth pointing out one thing with people think he's using us for new contract.

He isn't being offered a new contract at Bayern. Many rumours that pep isn't his biggest fan and they have the likes of martinez and thiago who pay in same position.

He may not particularly want to leave, but it might be he doesnt have much choice!

If there were contact negotiations id agree with the pessimists but doesn't sound like there are any

World Cup winner
Champions League winner
German League winner
31 years old.
He's proven
His name is amazing
=
'7.5m'?

Doubt it's true but if anyone is saying no to all that, get out.

You brought up Rooney, like everyone does. the character of the team has nothing to do with teams failings, It's to with the teams lack of quality in the team. Signing Sebastian is not going to solve the teams long term problems, we had character in the team in 2013/14 season, why did they fail? They were past it. Do we want to be paying all that money for him, and come another years time we stuck with an ageing midfielder on insane wages, like so many like to highlight rooneys wages

still no answer to the question you raised it for your own

who are going to lead this club by the coming season? i'm listening to you giving me a name

how much money here's talking about? 250k+50 for rooney?

what success rooney've brought to us?

The teams quality and depth leads us to glory, not these so called leaders. Rooney being captain, so what. Rooney can be captain, if the area's of the team are in good shape, that's your leadership. If Sebastian is signed, he is added to more deeper problems that we are giving ageing players wages they do not deserve. Do we want the right signing? Or signing a name for the wrong reasons, and we have been burnt with these kind of signings the past year

what kind of problems he can add? what's the wage here talking about? you never provide anything in concrete to back up your argument

again. whose to lead this this club if rooney being the captain not capable to do that?
and you are very wrong to state no leader to the success of this club. or you are not a big fan of king cantona. don't you?

He isn't being offered a new contract at Bayern
Where did you read that nonsense? Rummenigge has been talking for months in public about our wish to extend the contract with him. If he wants to, he has a new longterm contract within a day.

so what's the problem of him to extend his contract with bayern?

What argument? He can't backup that because he knows he's talking bollocks. Schweinsteiger if he comes will immediately become our best midfielder. He had some injury problems this year for the first time in his career and immediately he's injury prone, past it, too old etc.. Yet people tend to forget that he was instrumental for both Bayern and Germany in the last years. especially a year ago when they won the World Cup..

Still one of the top 5 midfielders in the game today.

so what's the problem of him to extend his contract with bayern?
He's thinking about leaving? I guess he takes his time to plan his future at the moment. He has a new girlfriend, who happens to be a tennis player traveling the world all year. His whole private life changed significantly over the last year and isn't necessarily based in Munich anymore like before. Maybe he wants to figure out the next step in his life, weigh his options?

all tennis players esp the female ones all love united

Problems? Adding the fact he is 31 going on 32, his injury problems, his wages for a 30 year old is not good business. Cantona had the team round him, and he already had leaders in the 93/94 team, this current team needs players in their prime. And in the engine room we need younger blood

He's 30 going on 31.

United should get a commission when so called transfer targets end up staying at their club for a bigger contract.

Why do you think he has started to pick up injurys, not to do with the fact he is coming up to 32

so, what's the wage here we are talking about? you keep raising this question but why you don't give me an answer of something i don't know? have you ever seen what @Balu said?

So apparently Jan Fjortofts guy who is closest to Munich reckons Schweini has no intention of leaving Bayern...thanks for nothing Sunday Mirror/People

Torben Hoffmann is not close to Bayern. He's working for sky, who are not as meaningful in Germany compared to the UK. He played for the rivals of Bayern for a long periode and his main insight is about that club. Basicly, his opinion tells you close to nothing.

We really should, we have to hear about envy single player in the world who is looking for a bigger contract and the phantom interest they're generating from Untied.

bringing in Bastian Schweinsteiger to united just like lvg brought Mark van Bommel to bayern.

one more thing for this player. he once asked for the shirt of scholes if anyone've never noticed about it

Honestly this video sums up your posts on here:

If your argument/points were a house in the 3 little pigs, it'd be straw.

I loved Van Bommel, I have to say. Great at fouling people without getting called, great at being able to accumulate a lot of fouls without the ref carding him. Always looked under control and a master of the dark arts, like one Alessandro Costacurta who was my first favorite player.

Obviously I love to foul people and use all manner of questionable moves on the football pitch, both because they're effective and they wind up your opponent. But you have to have that Van Bommel air of seriousness, and the ability to foul without looking like it's intentional.
