Not sure it's that ridiculous a fee. Theres bound to be a few million in add one too.

But still, would be surprised if less than 10 overall

What position would he play in? Id assume he'd rotate with Fellaini in last years formation.
He's been the deepest midfielder for Germany and Bayern for the most part of the last 5 years. He'd rotate with Carrick or play alongside him.

Love the arrows.

Poor Lewandowski, how's he supposed to score of he can only move backwards?

Some of you guys play far too much football manager. Players don't suddenly deteriorate when they get 30. If we get a good 3, even 4 years of service from him and bare in mind it'll be quality service, perhaps even a level above Carrick, then this is a great purchase. He certainly isn't going to be our only signing in midfield so don't worry about that. LVG has been told he has vast resources and is well aware of the midfield problem and he knows exactly which players he's after to fit his system.

Oh this again. My guess is that no one knows what is going on at the club.

I think that's a given. Theres no chance it isn't an upgrade on Carrick. As good as he has been last few years, schweinsteiger has always been a level above and continued to be so (injuries permitting)

Depends on the position, but they quite often do. Someone like Schweinsteiger could easily have 4-5 good years left, though (Xavi, Scholes, Pirlo, etc).

Of course if the players position or talent hinged on natural athleticism then this is indeed the case, but with centre midfield as you pointed out players tend to get better with age. Especially as most teams have ditched a 2 mad midfield allowing the renaissance of the older deep lying play maker (at least in england).

Fantastic signing if it happens. Adds leadership to the side which we are lacking majorly. A genuine rotation option with him and Carrick, but you could probably play them as a three with Herrera or Mata pushing on.

THis would be my dream signing. Huge fan of him! Love the way commentators pronounce his name..class player

My first bid whenever I play FIFA Career mode!

Actually, that's exactly what I worry about.

It depends on the player. If they are showing signs that they are injury prone than yes they usually do

With all due respect. Schneiderlin is a good player but feck me does he get overrated on here. This is almost laughable.

Perhaps not far superior, but Schneiderlin is a better option for the long-term future than Schweinsteiger. As much as I love Schweini as a player, I don't believe he's the kind of solution to look in the long term. He would be great for 3 years as a big brother, a mentor and a leader, but that's about it. Van Gaal would make a massive gamble by putting all of his eggs in one basket for the remaining 2 years of his tenure; he also has to think about leaving a better team to his successor too.

Not even SAF had done that unfortunately

Aye. "Far superior to Schweinsteiger"? FFS. That's a laughable statement. There are legitimate reasons to prefer Schneiderlin but "far superior" isn't even close to being true.

I can't see him leaving Bayern to come here - isn't he like their Gerrard?
It sounds like he doesn't have a choice, otherwise I am sure he would want to stay

This potential transfer concerns me. He didn't look the same player in the bits I saw of him last season, picks up plenty of injuries. Even though not overly old he is probably clearly past his best and that is why he will be available.

But hey he is a big name so most of the caf are desperate for this

1. Schweini is a football god, not some weird demi god.
2. That doesn't change, just because he left for a new experience towards the end of his career. Beckenbauer won a Bundesliga title with Hamburg, but no one cares about that despite Hamburg being an incredibly annoying rival.

??? We offered him a contract extension similar to Lahm's. We'd love it if he stayed and he'd be one of our best paid players for the next few years. He's the one who can't make up his mind.

:nervous: Stand corrected

Let's get him

I'd say it's about 60:40 that he'll leave either this summer or next summer on a free. My gut feeling? He'll leave next summer.

Did the player get on particularly well with van Gaal during his time in Munich? Hoping, if anything does, that might tempt him to come here this summer.

If he is leaving with the intention of actually testing himself at another club, I think the time to move is now. Any later and he's running out of time to settle and make his mark.
