£7.5m deal rumoured again. The Mirror and The Sunday People are the sources. Can't recall them being right on much though...

More importantly, Steve Bates is reporting it. Might be something in this as he's shown he has contacts inside United.

I'd pay £7.5 million for Schweinsteiger is he was 48 and missing a leg. If we can get him for that, it would be a great deal.

If he's our only midfield signing, I'll be incredibly disappointed. Also, £7.5 mil for a injury prone, 31 year old, is quite a lot.

We'd nearly break even just by selling Nani, poor fee though we're getting for him. Wouldn't be too shabby at all...

Would be worth it for a lot more -- I'd just like us to sign another midfielder if we do sign Schweinsteiger as his injury record/age is a concern.

If its Schweinstiger + someone younger (Schneiderlin would be ideal imo) that would be great.

Bring in some experience and winning mentality, and also a player that can be the 'future'.

Schweinsteiger + Schneiderlin would be nice, even if it does send my phone's autocorrect into overtime.

This is the first player we have been genuinely (potentially reliably) linked to in about a week

If we get Schweinsteiger for £7.5m i'm absolutely certain he will not be the only midfield purchase this Summer. Schweinsteiger with one of Gündogan or Schneiderlin coming would be dreamy.

LVG will probably Schweinsteiger, Schweinsteiger back into a winger again.

Yep the thread titles should'nt have been change. Until it's a concrete source it's not worth changing.

Agree with the first sentence. Totally disagree with the second. £7.5m is peanuts, and is worth the gamble on fitness.

Under ten mil for Schweinsteiger would definitely be a good deal for us, really hope it happens but will wait and see until some better sources start claiming it. He would help bring that winning mentality back to the club and is great player to have control the tempo of the game from midfield. He's familiar with the way van Gaal runs things and wants us to play which is very important and would be suited to the Prem no problem. Go get him Ed!

You only have to look at Carrick's last 3 years to realise how influential a player of their quality can be from midfield and Bastian is probably a level above Carras (by popular opinion anyway although I'm a huge Carrick fan).

A few injuries, probably, but worth it all the same for the calm, control, experience and power he could provide to our midfield and dressing room. £7.5m for 2 or 3 seasons would be a steal.

Considering Falcao was 6m a season on loan, then a 7.5m transfer fee for Schweinsteiger seems very reasonable. As the DM he could play for a few more years yet.

He would be quality beside Herrera, we need a bit more bite in that midfield. I always thought he was a bit of a cnut but sometimes that's what you need to shake things up. His experience would be fantastic in Europe. I'm not convinced he will leave though.

£7.5 mil? That would have realistic potential to be up there with signing Pirlo on a free, in terms of epic transfers.

That may be a solid boost of balance in midfield. We've been already linked to him few times so hopefully it's not a weekend dose of cool stories and not only midfielder we will get this summer.

Germany's captain and vice captain for Bayern... You would expect Van Gaal to pursue exactly that kind of player who can offer not only talent but also leadership and experience which in case of Schweinsteiger is just invaluable.

I don't care how old he is he would instantly take our midfield to the next level.

If the idea is just to rotate him with Carrick in the #6 role than that would be fine, but not if the idea is to try and play him as a #8, we should getting Schneiderlin to add to that position.

Can't help but feel that this is not a realistic deal for us. We never seem to get a decent price for a player, no matter how old or injury prone they are. If I'm wrong however, £7.5m would be an absolute steal even if he's only here for a couple of years.

To be fair this looks like the most realistic deal atm from all the rumors lol

What position would he play in? Id assume he'd rotate with Fellaini in last years formation.

People who watched him play last year, what kind of midfielder are we getting?

Id rather take someone whose more long term. We've already have a leader in Carrick

I prefer Schneiderlin over Bastian...younger, not injury prone and for me far superior too.
