It will be here like a bad smell until he pens a new deal. The rumour just isn't going away. Is he the new Vidal or is it happening?

Very different player. Kramer is as box-to-box as they come. If you want a more Schweini-like player from Gladbach, Xhaka is your man.Could Kramer play effectively the same role?

Sometimes it is the agent who communicates the offer, happened many times in the past from what I read.german media are picking up the "Daily Star" story about Schweinsteiger having met United officials. Allegedly, they negotiated a 10 Mio fee. Funny, i thought that matters of that sort were to be decided between new club/old club, not new club/player
Fact seems to be no one spoke to FC Bayern yet. If Schweini declares it is his wish to leave, Bayern will most likely grant his wish for past merits and Pep not insisting on keeping him.
And he's in the country folks... More importantly, so to is Ana Ivanovic.
I live about 5 minutes from where that event is taking place.
Well Ana lost today so you may have missed the chance to get this deal signed for Utd. If it fails, we're all going to blame your lack of effort.
Who told you that?Schweini is much better at dictating play than Schneiderlin and that's probably why he is our first choice.
Who told you that?
It's hard to imagine a top German player leaving Bayern, unless he's really moved far down the pecking order in midfield.
I'd love it if we get him AND Schneiderlin. That would be our midfield sorted out for next season. But I suspect he's just using this link with us as leverage to get a new contract, and to help seal his place in the team.
Fully agree, I would take both though. If we go for Schweinsteiger over Schneiderlin , I'd be absolutely gutted. Would be a terrible, short sighted, decision.
Many did. Kroos and Ballack were the more recent ones, but even Breitner left us as a 22 year old after our first European Cup win in the 70's. In the 80's Rummenigge, Matthäus, Brehme and Kohler left to play in Italy. It's much more common for German players to go abroad than most people believe and I fully understand it if Schweinsteiger wants to play in a foreign league for a few years. I'm sure it's a wonderful experience. I twice went abroad for 2 years in my job and loved it both times, why should it be any different for a football player? It's hard to imagine a top German player leaving Bayern, unless he's really moved far down the pecking order in midfield.
If it's a choice between Schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin then it should be 9 times out of 10. He's been one of the best CMs in the PL since Southampton were promoted and he hasn't had a poor season yet. At only 25 and the type of game he plays he can be a mainstay in your midfield for ~8 years in comparison to Bastian who is still quality but will have much less longevity. It might also lead to a situation whereby you're relying on another aging midfielder ala Carrick for a couple of years which isn't ideal and is a part of why you've struggled a little.
If both players are interested in a move however it would make sense to snap up both. You'll get a leading midfielder in the Bundesliga and the PL in one window.
He is a wonderful player but has had his injuries issues of late and with both him and Carrick being on the wrong side of 30, we could be looking for another player to replace both in a couple of years time. I think we should target someone younger if it is an either/or situation else ideally would love to get both him and Schneiderlin in this summer.I am all for signing him for a decent fee. You could think a players career ends at 31 or that they cant offer anything if you read some posts here.

Don't think that's true. He just needs to say what he wants to do. We'd love it if he signed an extension, but if he wants to leave next year on a free it's also okay for us. If he has an interesting offer now and wants to leave this summer, we won't force him to stay and will accept a fair offer from any club without causing him any problems. He's a club legend and gave us his peak years, no one will hold it against him if he decides to try something new now that he could still play top level football for a few years. Rummenigge and Sammer both played abroad as well, it's not like they won't understand his reasons. But Bayern's made it clear that if he wants to leave, he has to push for it. For a guy who's pretty much spent his entire professional career at one club (and THE club at that), he'll need to be highly motivated to move on. I'm not sure we make a compelling enough case for him to do that. Hopefully I'm wrong.
Yeah, kinda agree, although a lot here would love seeing Bastian in United kit. Now, if it was Gundogan PLUS either Schizzle, then Swine's Tiger would make sense. Of course, it seems Gundogan doesn't seem to really want to be here, so there's that.If we go for Schweinsteiger over Schneiderlin , I'd be absolutely gutted. Would be a terrible, short sighted, decision.
