We've never really had first team Spanish players either, now they're the hub of the team! Could Schweini, Gundogan and possibly Hummels start that for the Germans? If we sign him, would he be the first German player ever to play for us?
I think you are right, I remember him being several years 3rd or 4th keeper but I never recall him playing even in the League Cup.Never played for the first team, no German ever has
Understandable really as not many leave Germany, bit like the English but not quite as bad.
If we could snare ourselves a couple then we could be on to a winner.
Maybe Gundogan, Schweini, Hummels, Müller and Reus
Hell yeah!
I'd personally go for Schurrle ahead of Reus.Maybe Gundogan, Schweini, Hummels, Müller and Reus
Think I just went full muppet

Schweinsteiger and Fellaini should fight it out to see who gets number 31 for next season. Be a good fight actually.
Its rather annoying.Fans want to be challenging for the title next season and wouldn't accept anything less, yet they do not want proven, experienced players. They want younger players who have the "potential" to become great. Expensive players are no-go too. And they think they are not asking too much.
Schweinsteiger has only been fit enough to make the team or bench for 21 league games this season. In the three years before that his numbers were 25, 28 and 22. So in three of the last four seasons he missed over a quarter of the games.
I don't see how the solution to Carrick being old and suffering injuries is to buy another player who is old and suffering injuries.
Maybe he's not the solution to Carrick. He'd still be a brilliant signing for us even if it's just for 20 league games a season for the next 3 years.

Depends on how much though

What happens when Carrick and Schweinsteiger get injured at the same time? I like Schweinsteiger and I would love here but if we buy then we will need another midfielder IMO.
Yeah of course but I don't think we are looking at dropping £30m on him. I think it'll be a £12-15m compensation fee of sorts as Bayern let him move and thank him for his service. I wouldn't be adverse to us paying him handsomely though as I think a player like him would bring so much experience and guidance to out young squad and that can be invaluable.
He would definitely improve our play. Even having him in the practice sessions with the younger lads would be a bonus. Would have a presence like Scholesy did for his last few years.
He begun his season in November. He played 26 games out of 31, in CL and Bundesliga.
Not sure what you are getting at here. He didn't play until November because he was injured, highlighting his fitness problems was the point of my post.
He made the team or bench for 21 of their 34 league games and 7 of their 12 CL games. So 28/46 or 60% of games.

He had one injury, who kept him out, that's not a 'fitness problem'.
Not true, he missed most of April with an ankle problem for example.
His record also shows the injury problems go back beyond this year, his last truly injury free season was 10/11 when he was still in his mid-twenties.
Not 'for example', that's the only time he missed games for injuries, a contact injury, that's not a fitness problem too.
There is no point in me continuing this discussion because you are pretending that injuries either don't exist or, when I tell you about them, that they don't count as fitness problems.
I've posted his record, it's poor both for last season and over a four year period. I'm not going to waste any more time trying to get you to accept reality.

Like someone has stated, schwiens is a short term fix. Carrick needs fading out. Personally I think he's a great option to do that for the next few years. LVG knows him well. He's also a proven winner.
If we want to win the prem next season or stand a chance in the champions league, we need someone with his qualities/experience in that area. And whilst I'm all for upcoming quality youngsters, they just dont have the same effect as the more mature CMs. Usually in consistency.
Im sure if LVG is looking at schwiens, he'll be looking elsewhere for the long term to shadow through behind him.
Only way Sterling has a chance in that fight is if 31 represented number of kids fathered!Don't forget Sterling
