Bastian Schweinsteiger | Exit Speculation

I was hoping he'd move on without any fuss.

Meh, he is a determined character and it would least surprise me if he talked Jose into giving him a season to prove his worth.

I doubt he'd accept defeat so easily and move back to Germany having given up the national team with a view to prolong his club career. He obviously wants to do well in England, not to mention he appears to have some strong affection for the club as well.

So much for all the excitement about his signing. Bayern knew what they were doing.

Couldn't care less if he leaves. He was garbage for the most part last season, is in embarrassing shape, and fecks off instead of training at the club. Also don't think he is half the dressing room presence as is claimed by some on here.

Didn't LvG reportedly pull the plug on Gündogan and sign Schweini instead?

Just imagine, we could have had a midfield three with both Gundo and Pogba in there..now if there ever was a jizzworthy midfield.

I really don't see the point in getting rid of him; especially when we only really have Carrick, Herrera and Schneiderlin (possibly Blind) as acceptable options.

Even if we sign Pogba that's still not a great deal of depth there.

For me the final he lost to chelsea in 2011/12 and the world cup final are up there as some of the best performances any midfielder has had while playing football. That 2011/12 game he was as good as Roy Keane against Juventus. Magical. Worth keeping for another year.

I won't disagree with you.
But the problem is that that game was 4 years back. Bastian of 2016 is not the same player he once was.

I completely agree. Didn't the article privy to details once van Gaal was sacked (which was pretty clearly Rooney telling the media things) that Schweinsteiger spent most of his time fecking back off to Germany?

Yep, it also said some of the players didn't like him for it as well. I always look back on the Shaw interview too where he made a comment on every player except for Schweinsteiger (and Sergio Romero). You don't just forget to comment on a big figure in the dressing room unless he is in fact not a big figure.

Read somewhere else that he's been told to clear out his locker from the first team dressing and move to the U21s because Mourinho wants him out. I think it was the Daily Mail, Mirror and M.E.N.

Yep, seems like a 2+2, Tobi is a united fan too, shame that's gotten out.

Dont see why he isn't given a chance to prove himself just like everyone else was. No reason to have another Valdes situation

Why can't Mourinho just sit him down and have a proper conversation with him about whether or not he wants him there and under what conditions if so? It just seems like for no reason at all, Jose has taken a dislike to him.

There's no need to disrespect him, and leak this kind of shit to the press. I see United are continuing their classless ways:rolleyes:

Just make it clear if he's not wanted, and work on getting him transferred somewhere.

I hope Jose hasn't judged him based on gossip. Or the fact that he's got a big connection to LVG. It would be really stupid if he's that fecking insecure.

You have no clue what Jose did or told him though. It is also very likely being leaked to the press from Schweinsteigers side. You're just pulling hypothetical after hypothetical out of your ass.

Because Mourinho is paid to make the hard decisions and this is one of those. You don't offer the kind of money we have reportedly offered to Pogba without doing some housekeeping.

Real shame, we were always going to shift a high earner or two to balance the books and its understandable that Schweinsteiger may not want to give up that easily and close his United chapter with the failure of last season so Mourinho has to push him out. If true its ugly but necessary.

I thought Schweinsteiger was a huge letdown last season and I'm not bothered if he goes. In fact I'm probably in favour of it, especially if the rumours about him not being around much last season are true. Gives the sense he wasn't 100% committed to the cause.

I'd rather he left on decent terms though.

Bravo for making up a narrative.

Watch your mouth. it's not a stretch to believe Jose's being a prick to be honest.

Sending him to the reserves (if it's to try and force him out the club) is quite classless from the club.

It's not like we have great depth in MF that we can just write off players like Basti! I'd much rather he stay and was given the chance to fight for his place.

Oh give over. Why would Bastian want the press to know he's been banished like this? Just because he's our manager doesn't mean he can't be criticised

Class from Jose. Clearly not good enough anymore. Past his prime & injury prone, no time for sentimentality in football. I'm sure deep down he also agrees seeing as he left his boyhood club who wanted to keep him to join United.

Exactly!

Never said he can't be criticised but you just made this up. Anyone within the organization or have an insight could have leaked it. To think our manager wants to start the season with the press saying he is mistreating players is really far fetched.

I feel we could have kept him on for one more year. With our injury record, he would have been a useful player to fill in when needed. I don't know why he has not been given a chance to prove himself.

I'm really bemused at how badly the forum has taken this news. Maybe it's just a vocal minority type thing, but he did only managed to make 13 Premier League starts last season...

I didn't make anything up. It's pretty obvious from the narrative we've been fed so far that Jose's not into him (in my opinion). If Jose doesn't like him then fine, but there's a way to deal with things - and it doesn't look like we're going about things the right way, as we didn't with Moyes and LVG sacking.

Also, if you read my post properly you would see I'm asking more questions than I'm actually stating anything.

Feels like the next "Evra" to me. He is forced out, he will go to Italy probably and maybe he will show 2-3 very good seasons there.

A bit classless, to be honest. Schweinsteiger always gave 100% for the club when he was fit. There were a lot players much younger with weaker performances who are still in the squad imo.

Evra was never forced out.

As for Schweinsteiger leaving or not, sadly I couldn't give a shit, at times I forgot he was at this club.

I'd guess it has a lot to do with the wage structure and making room for Pogba and perhaps another signing.

And to think I actually got into an argument with a poster here a couple of weeks back saying that Schweinsteiger is still world class and would be one of, if not the best midfielder in the league this coming season. That he would take Schweinsteiger in his current state over Kante without hesitating.

Clear as day when the club where he is a legendary figure was so quick to sell him that he was past it.
