Lol get real. Clearly Schweiny is on massive wages which makes the club want to push him out than the other players and because Mourinho doesn't see him in his plans then that basically makes the right option the option to leave.

After the career he's had being shown the door after one mediocre season would be a bitter blow.
He's had fitness problems for a while and must think that he can conquer them and go out as an asset to a top club rather than just dropping down levels in football's outposts for a few more paydays.

If I was him, I would do the same. Bastian is earning a lot money here. He doesn't have a reason to leave the club. If Jose doesn't want him, isn't his problem.

Not so much. Bastian and Carrick were absolutely dreadful when played together last season. Particularly in the Arsenal game where Arsenal buried us and completely overran them.
If Bastian is playing, he needs to be in the "Busquets" role behind Pogba and Schneiderlin in my opinion.
I think Bastian actually played well enough, when he actually played, last season. I wouldn't cry if he left, but I'm fine with him staying too. He's a very good player. I'm sure if we went back over his games there would be many favourable reports in his thread, particularly early on.

He meant sharing as in rotating. Which they won't be anyway. He can try to stay but I think Mourinho will [correctly] shaft him out.
Great news. I still think that he has a few years in him as a defensive midfielder (like in the WC final). He don't have the legs to be all-mighty box-to-box he was at his peak but his game intelligence and leadership is still there.
I was surprised with the rumors of his exit tbf as he is exactly the type of guys that Mourinho likes to keep in his squad.
Basti is horrible as a DM and everytime he has played there for us unstead of controlling games he simply gets bypassed. He is best used as an advanced playmaking midfielder. I can rememeber many instances where he was outran, outfought and pressured too much to work in a DM role.

What bugged me last season was despite being available for the whole of the first half of the campaign, he never actually looked physically fit. I remember being at his debut when he came on and being shocked at how overweight he looked and he was still the same six months later.

Maybe I'm misjudging it then but he looked to be struggling badly to complete 90 minutes on most occasions he did. Could be a match fitness thing.

For me the final he lost to chelsea in 2011/12 and the world cup final are up there as some of the best performances any midfielder has had while playing football. That 2011/12 game he was as good as Roy Keane against Juventus. Magical. Worth keeping for another year.

He is worth keeping as a squad player solely because of his leadership and that he shows up for big games when fit. But I don't think he's in Mou's plans because of how injury prone he is. Our team's fitness record is something that has been a major concern over the past few years and I'm sure Mourinho doesn't want to rely on players whom he can't count on for majority of the season. That is partly why we're paying an arm and a leg for one of the least injury prone mids in the world (hoping it stays this way).
