Barcelona defender Mapi Leon accused of touching opposing players private parts while saying "Do you have a dic*?"

If the player wasn't offended by it then I'm not going to go out of my way to try and find ways to be.

That’s like saying that a certain ex Man Utd player didn’t do anything wrong because the victim didn’t press charges.

The only thing I have said is that I want the womens football world to engage as fiercely to condemn this as they did towards Rubiales. Not because of revenge for Rubiales or because the incidents are the same, but to keep it fair to everyone involved! If you think women in womens football should be held to different standards of scrutiny then men that is entirely up to you!
It's a different situation and the participants have a different power relationship. So I have no idea why you are looking for an exact same sort of reaction. I mean, it makes sense to want to see a strong reaction hetr, but I have no idea why you think the Rubiales situation is a particularly comparable case.

I'm pretty sure she was offended. Hence the original complaint from Espanyol.

The backlash against Daniela was horrible though. A combination of racist abuse and accusations that she's a man - with a few accusations that she's just a no talent bully trying to spoil the reputation of a better player out of envy or malice. Right now, she probably wishes that she hadn't said anything.

I also suspect that Espanyol realise that they can't really afford to get into a fight with Barcelona - not a legal one or a footballing one, they have neither the money nor the PR machine for it. The outright denial by Mapi Leon has that "written by a solicitor" tone.

Her thought process and motivation is irrelevant in this instance. The actions and impropriety is the only thing that should be used to judge her.

I am not saying this is what I want. I am saying these are the standards by which such incidents have been judged.

Except your post assigned a motive to her actions that doesn’t exist.

If we’re judging on actions alone - it’s just an innocuous bit of contact that doesn’t meet the bar for assault or anything else.

What about her asking “do you have a dic*” ? Also, innocuous ?

Yes, nowhere out of the norm for the sort of insults you hear on a football pitch.

Ok. So basically, you’re saying that female players routinely accuse each other of having dic*s. And for the fire time in the history of football, a player has got offended and made a complaint ? So really, it’s the alleged victims fault for making a complaint for something so routine ?

Okay, and Mapi has said that she said something different.

Okay and I also believe that Mapi has an incentive to lie but Daniela doesn’t. As we have seen from the abuse that Daniela is receiving, there was no incentive to make this up ?

No I think you just said all that.

The time is different. If Rubiales deserved a 3 year ban from football, fired from his job and up to 1 year in prison, then they have to chase this case with the same vengeance! Especially if it was a transphobic comment then they could push for additional charges.

It does not mean I agree with it. But it would be double standards by spanish football and spanish society if Leon was not investigated with the same intensity!
Wait is that for the manager that kissed that chick on the head?

A year in prison? I’m not following this at all and that dude was the only one who made the news and I recall it blowing up

If so, that is absolutely mental

Good job Vinnie Jones didn't play in Spain!

And it shows. He wasn't a manager, he didn't kiss her on the head, and he hasn't and won't ever go to prison (for this). Also, "that chick"

That chick is probably not the best way to word any response to this but leaving that aside he kissed her full on the mouth not on the head.

He has not been jailed and it is unlikely he will be, the charge does carry a potential custodial sentence but it would be a surprise if it got to that. It is a very different scenario than this one and I am not sure why people are so determined to conflate the two other than to make arguments in bad faith.
