Balotelli signs for Liverpool - Official

Think it's a great buy personally. Even if he's poor they can still get their money back in a couple of years.

He's a bit of a tit but people don't half go on about him as if he's Al Capone. Unfortunately we're going to have double the amount of "lad" nonsense everywhere now. Ladotelli. Kill me now

16m for Balotelli is incredible given the fee's that usually float around the English game. Would be a great signing for them.

Gerrard I am guessing. Not sure who comes next. Probably skrtel, agger, Johnson as senior players signed before trimming the bill became a concern.

Johnson's deal was structured so his wages dropped to around £60k in his final year apparently.

They've got rid of one headcase, going to get in another who is 1/5 of the player.

I'm surprised Arsenal aren't all over this given the reported fee. They need a forward and this guy is guaranteed goals and more importantly, affordable. Again, he's a dickhead, but Wenger strikes me as a man that could harness that potential into something quite special.

Agreed.

Spurs need a striker too and would've been able to afford him.

This is a good signing for them, although it's been quite hilarious listening in to the Liverpool supporters in work hyping him up as one of the best players in the world even though up until a week ago in there eyes he was a cnut just like everyone else thought he was!

Balotelli is the biggest waste of talent the world has ever seen. He is capable of moment of brilliance but he doesn't want it enough.

When he moved to AC Milan he was overjoyed at playing for the club he's supported growing up. Now if that's not enough of a reason to cut your crap out, knuckle down and try to become a legend at the club, then what's stopping him from more of his antics if he join's Liverpool.

The guy will never learn, he'll be setting fire to cars within a week.

He'd be a fantastic signing. Wouldn't want him at Liverpool because we Have such brilliant team spirit at the moment, but he'd be great for most other teams.

These were my thoughts when Arsenal were linked with him. ;)

£16 million for Balotelli could potentially be a great deal. No doubt he has quality it's just his mindset. It could also blow up in their face but for £16 million I think it's worth the risk.

I was looking forward to a more relaxed season without Suarez (gutted, but relaxed).

Then we sign Balotelli. Bloody hell...!

Leonardo Ulloa = £8m
Robert Snodgrass = £8m
Ross McCormack = £11m
Shane Long = £12m
Fabio Borini = £14m
Mario Balotelli = £16m

£16m for Balotelli is an absolute steal. Sure he's not quite all there but when he wants too he can definitely play. If that was us we would end up paying 40+

It is simply not going to work at Liverpool. Their offensive game is based on fluid teamplay and link-up play between 'roaming' mobile forwards such as Sterling, Sturridge, Suarez and Coutinho. How would it make sense to have an extremely selfish, static player with extremely low work rate in the team? How would he even link-up with Sturridge, with Sturridge also being fairly selfish and clearly the main striker in their team? Whilst Liverpool were able to play a diamond or a 3-5-2 with Sturridge and Suarez in the same team, Suarez was extremely mobile and looked to roam around in the flanks and the channels. Can you expect Balotelli to do the same? No, he clearly thinks of himself as the focal point of the attack. Sturridge can do the Suarez role but he is not as talented/creative as Suarez to pull it off.

If Rodgers can pull it off it would be fantastic for Liverpool, given the relative low price that Balotelli appears to be commanding for a player of his ability. Balotelli is a fantastic talent and if Rodgers can truly polish his game and eradicate his glaring weaknesses, he would be phenomenal for Liverpool. However, it doesn't look likely given the way Liverpool play and they would have been better served with going for Remy tbh.

Could be a great signing for them, but getting my crystal balls out I'm going to say he'll last three seasons and there'll be some kind of melt down that ends with him moving on again.

Who knows, I might be way off and he is going to mature as a person and fulfill his undeniable potential (he is in his mid-20s now after all), but I'll go with a three year stint with the dippers as my prediction and with him weighing in with around 17-18-19 goals a season.

oh one more prediction:

no matter how badly he messes up in terms of behaviour on and off the pitch, it will never be his fault while he is playing for that lot. In fact he will usually be the victim.

Irritating that we as a league finally got rid of one of the biggest cnuts in the game in Suarez, only for the entrance of Costa and now the return of Balotelli to the fecking league

The media will absolutely love having him back though.

Be interesting to see if Jamie Redknapp has a change of opinion about him if he becomes a Liverpool player. USed to slate him every time City were on Sky when he was there, I bet that changes soon.

Nice one, want to see as many top players playing in the Premier League as possible.

Balotelli/Sturridge/Sterling

Good attacking trio on paper.

My mate at work who supports Liverpool has an interesting take on this transfer. He thinks, Balotelli will keep the other players of the media and it will just give them less pressure even if they are not playing well, when the media is all about Balotelli, who doesn't give a feck regard the media.

If Rodgers transforms his attitude it will be a remarkable achievement. I think he'll score goals, but won't ever really fit in. Can't see him lasting longer than two seasons.

Good signing for the price. He's not world class but a very good striker nevertheless and will score goals. Regards the penalty debate on here over who'd take them, I'd be surprised if Balotelli wasn't made first choice taker.

Seems Liverpool are not happy unless they have a completely hateful cnut in one from or another playing for them.

There are better strikers out there, and certainly less damaging ones.

I'd be delighted if this happens he's a massively overrated player and terrible for any clubs dressing room. Very arrogant of Rodgers to assume he can get the best out of a player who has shown himself to be almost completely uncoachable. The tabloids will have a field day with him and good luck to Brendan if he thinks he can play a high pressing game with the laziest footballer since Berbatov.

Media bollocks. You don't become a professional footballer and win league titles and the Champions League without having some kind of work ethic and commitment. Sure, he isn't a model professional and he could do a lot to improve but the notion that he is some nonchalant character regards football is bullshit. The fact is to get where he is now he must have done a lot of hard work.

The most over-rated footballer in recent memory. Constantly hearing that if he applied himself he'd be one of the very best, when in truth I don't even think he has the attributes to make that possible. He does have a great shot on him though.

Can imagine all those Pool fans are quickly changing their opinions on him now he's joining. Brendan will save his career and will turn him into this supposed world class striker.

Had a quick look on RAWK and that seems to be the jist of it.

If this is true then it could get very interesting.

Yeah Sturridge was 'forced' upon him back then, wasn't he? I seem to recall Rodgers wasn't keen on him.

I think so too. I think his antics have just led to a very easy narrative of 'it's wasted talent, he has world class potential' cos now and again he's scored some amazing goals. Don't think there's anything potentially world class about him, though he could turn out to be a decent striker. No consistency and a complete bellend though.

No way he earns 60k P/W at Milan. He'll be a big signing for Liverpool who'll earn more than 100k.

There's a reason why Milan and City both booted him out and that reason is that apart from his goal scoring record(which I bet is heavily increased due to his terrific penalties) he doesn't offer much when he's not on form.

Mourinho, Mancini didn't sorted him out. Let's see if Rodgers could do it, although according to the rumors, it was the transfer committee who decided this deal rather than Rodgers.

Doesn't have nearly enough to his all round game to be world class. You're spot on, it's complete bollocks that's somehow carried on from when he was a teen and you thought maybe he could develop his game more.
