Balotelli signs for Liverpool - Official

I'd say the gutter press can't wait, they'll manage to make anything about him into a headline. Rodgers would do well to keep him out of the public eye as much as possible.

Brendan's arguably the wrong man for that kind of restraint - he calls a press conference just for opening the curtains in the morning.

Ah I see, I think we'll accomodate the two by playing the diamond formation (where we've generally looked our best) with Balotelli and Sturridge up as a front two, both can drop back to pick up the ball, play on the last man and pop up in wide positions fairly well so I can see them alternating between those roles. As for Sturridge's selfish side, I think he showed when partnering with Suarez he can work well with a strike partner (Suarez showed he too can curb his selfish side with a partner), the selfish side comes out more when he's up on his own and maybe he feels the onus is on him to score the goals for the team. But im not really anticipating any sort of personality clash with him and Balotelli.

But I can also see us reverting to just one up front in games where we absolutley need more men in midfield with Sturridge being the preferred striker as his workrate (also something he was critiscised for before he joined us) is better tha Balotelli's
so your willing to marginalise sterling lallana and courinho and whoever that markovic lad is, to play 2 up top? Trust me when I say I've watched that happen to united over the last year and it didn't work out a treat. Ull have your own Rooney/rvp/mata/kagawa/januzaj situation we've been complaining all over the forum about, apart from with less quality. You needed backup for Sturridge not somebody u need to makeshift into the starting 11. Ballotelli is no Suarez he can't drift outside and beat a man creating space like you did last season

He will do a job for them but he will cause problems and he will leave in about 2 years

It is tough to see him and Sturridge both being happy while one is on the bench, but until it blows up, it's a fine addition, and if Sturridge gets hurt, it'll be a godsend.

Liverpool should be more excited that in signing Balo they also sign Fanny

I still think there's a good chance you won't agree personal terms with him but you certainly needed another striker with pace in case Sturridge get's injured. Remy was a good fit but whatever happened left you short of options.

Are they actually going to do this? I can't wait to see them try and suggest how classy and good a fit he is for the "Liverpool way".

Media bollocks. You don't become a professional footballer and win league titles and the Champions League without having some kind of work ethic and commitment. Sure, he isn't a model professional and he could do a lot to improve but the notion that he is some nonchalant character regards football is bullshit. The fact is to get where he is now he must have done a lot of hard work.
I'm not denying he didn't have to work hard to get where he is but a lot of money and anything a 24 year old wants is enough for some people. He's not willing to muck in when it gets tough, he'd rather jump ship and go where he can improve his own situation.

Andrea Pirlo insists Liverpool-bound Mario Balotelli has matured, and learnt from the mistakes that blighted the early part of his career.

Balotelli's two-and-a-half-year spell at Manchester City included a reckless red card against Arsenal in April 2012 and numerous off-the-pitch misdemeanours, such as setting off fireworks in his house. But since Balotelli joined AC Milan in January 2013, his Italy team-mate Pirlo believes the controversial forward has grown up.

Pirlo said: 'Mario has matured since he has been back in Italy. He will be the first to admit when he was younger he made some mistakes - but he is not that player anymore. 'Anybody who still talks about him in that way is living in the past.'

Juventus midfielder also believes that in the right environment, Balotelli will finally deliver on the promise he first showed as a teenager at Inter. The 35-year-old added: 'I have always said that in the right environment he has the potential to be one of the best strikers in Europe.

How come Milan are selling for such a cheap fee? He's worth far more than £16m.

Is he? All things considered, I think it's a fair price. It's a similar price at which he was bought at and sold for City I think.

Incredible coup for them, if they can get near his best from him he will be one of the best forwards in the league, if not they will still sell him for £10m+ because, well, he's Balotelli.

I've seen little to none of him since he left City. The one game that comes to mind is his performance versus Germany in the semi-final of Euro 2012. There must be a reason he's only going for £16 million in today's market? Has he gone off the boil recently?

I reckon it wouldn't be a good signing. Some Liverpool mates that I've talked to are worried.

The reason for it being a bad signing is his attitude. Liverpool's good season was largely due to great morale. You can go a long way on morale. Losing your biggest player and adding one that's a known trouble maker and disruptor in the final moments probably isn't good thing. You can talk about his talent all you want but his signs of progress aren't there. Until he magically grows up I wouldn't touch him.

"Why always me?" Joins "Why always us?" Made for each other.
You beat me to it. I recommend that Liverpool sell shirts with the slogan to recoup Balotelli's transfer fee.

Football is definitely better off when the likes of Mario Balotelli plays for your rival. I would describe him as a lazy cretin, but that would be insulting to cretins.
Posted this almost a month ago. Thanks for making football better Liverpool!

He's a destabilising liability. Bizarrely low fee though given the hype that follows him everywhere he goes.

They're getting him for £16m because he was average at best last season and got the majority of blame for a disastrous world cup campaign including from his own manager. Milan with their finances desperately want him off the wage bill, theirs not many realistic destinations for him in no small part due to the growing recognition that, with his massive mental shortcomings both from a tactical and discipline standpoint it's fairly safe to say that the "world class potential" you often hear touted is never going to become a reality if it wasn't already a total myth.

I still think Milan are mad to sell at this price. His upside is huge. And even if things don't work out well, Liverpool will still be able to get their money back.

Liverpool just got rid of one idiot, and sign another.

He might just click as a footballer, mind.

Massive upgrade on Borini who Sunderland wanted to buy for nearly 12 Million. Shane Long cost 12 Million. Liverpool have surely got a good footballer for a great price in his prime if he behaves.

Just when I thought the prick factor at Liverpool went down a notch, they amp it up a couple with this. I kind of wish they played Balo with Suarez for a season, the comedy value alone would make me want to donate to the cause.
