Aus v India Test series

Absolutely!

The selectors should have started to blood in a few more youngsters whilst the like of Sachin and Rahul are still around and make use of their experience. India of all the nations not having a couple of world class spinners in their ranks is a travesty.

I'm not sure about changing MS as captain. There's not a decent candidate around at this moment in time.

Indeed, I am very suprised they haven't tried to blood in the more technically correct Rohit Sharma more instead they went with Raina who has an obvious weakness against the short ball.

It's like 98-99 all over again.

The captaincy issue is probably the one of those suggestions I'm least certain on. But the question is how long can we go having a captain, let alone a keeper batsman, who looks useless away from home. I reckon he's still done too many great things for India to drop him or strip him of his captaincy but he definitely needs to feel the heat a bit. A clueless captain usually has an effect on the team big time.

But yeah the other points are more important. We need an overhaul. I wouldn't mind shoddy results if there is a long term vision in mind. Right now were hoping and praying our famed batting line up will one day click. And then what? They retire, thats what. So the present is being invested in nothing other than the present, and the immediate present at that.

I don't think it would be far from the truth to conclude that we are a home team.

On the other hand, without the captaincy and increased form, it could see Ponting have a late career push like Tendulka, and batter the shit out of England and everybody else for the next two years.

Thats happened to how many players in their late 30's? Like one....who happens to be either the greatest or second greatest batter of all time. Keep dreaming about regaining those Ashes bro, not happening :wenger:

Batter? are you talking about rounders or something?

Nah, I'm talking about this.

Makes no sense in relevance to anything else in the sentence, but its what Im talking about.

Absolutely. I have been saying about this for awhile now. No one actually close enough to claim the status of world class. Travesty indeed.
However, been hearing about couple of youngsters but way too early to tell.

It's more like custard...in that case stay away from Bird's.

Batter indeed. What next goaltenders instead of goalkeepers?

Have a word.

I always do say the reverse, and it sends my Canadian friends into hissy fits. I love it. Once called Gretzky a striker too. Crybabies those Canadians.

Saw this on twitter:

2 hours after the match, CA release squad for next test while BCCI release IPL fixtures.

Says it all, really.

Pathetic start from India again. Not surprised actually. feckers! Its going to be 3-0 in like 3 days.

I can't. I'm sitting outside a tent at he moment.

On the up side I'm about to BBQ the 16 flathead fillets we caught today while drink beer.

I feel like a WACA groundsman

flatheads eh...I can't get past the taste of Barramundi. Love it!

Hopefully you no longer need the highlights, Australia 149/0 only minutes after India 161 all out, should tell you all you need to know about the pitch.

Also since Cowan got out at the SCG, Australia have scored 760 runs for the loss of 1 wicket :nervous:

These last two tours have been shocking. After a coming of age in every sense over the last decade, these two tours have been like going back into time to the pre ganguly captaincy. It's as if we've gone full circle right back to where we began. Of course its just two tours but its a good and harsh reminder for the bcci that we can't just rest of the lorels of our progress but have to keep improving and evolving to stay at that new level.

I hope to see major changes post this tour. Wouldn't count in it thoigh

They could start with a more proactive captain. Dhoni does F-all when the wheels fall off. Just stands there with hands on his hips.

I'm not saying Dada would have been able to conjure up more wickets, or a different result, but he sure as hell wouldn't have taken the bumming so willingly.

There'll be no changes. BCCI is more interested in IPL. Only positive today was how Kohli played.

This. I noticed him do it a fair bit in the England series but thought maybe that is his style but the last test match when the Aussies took a first innings lead his whole body language suggested India had already lost the game - it was a disgrace.

They should get someone else to be Test captain but there don't appear to be many candidates.

Sehwag will be a fine captain IMO.

I disagree vehemently. Too careless to be a captain and also does not strike me as a leader in any sense. He is street smart but that is not enough to suceede as an Indian captain.

He'd stand with his hands in his pocket if the going gets tough. Probably would do better than Dhoni tactically.

I'd like for us to sack half the side, start again with youngsters and hire Warne as coach -- he's a genius, knows all the Indian players from the IPL and would love the attention.

Unfortunately it's not going to happen. Test cricket's finished in India unless the BCCI do something radical and stop caring about money.

Test Cricket is fine in India - you just need your media/fans to not cover the following overseas tours

Australia
England
South Africa

The rest of the time everything is peachy!
