4-0 on the cards..
Good recovery from Clarke and Punter there, after another train wreck of a start. Marsh really needed some more game time before being brought back, given that Khawaja hadn't been doing THAT badly. When fit, I'd definitely have Marsh ahead of Khawaja but he is looking seriously underdone.
Warner has started his test career curiously. He's shown he can stay at the crease for a long period in first class cricket, but he's only proven that to us once down in Hobart at test level. I thought the Channel 9 commentators had it spot on in their comparisons between Warner and Cowan, in that Warner should really get it into his head that the first half hour of every innings you have to defend with soft hands and work the ball around. Finally, a bit pissed off with Cowan's lbw decision - never did I have the feeling that it "looked out", but that's cricket I guess...
I'd have hoped that Pattinson would get to test his mettle against a reliably solid batting lineup after tearing through the Kiwis on helpful surfaces, but alas that hasn't been the case. The pitch has looked like quite a good batting surface given that it's day one at the SCG, so the lack of preparation by the Indians (four days in total at Manuka, wtf?) is really showing itself once again. The English learnt their lesson after the 06/07 drubbing and gave themselves four first class practice matches at test venues before the 10/11 tour, and the rigorous preparation more than paid off. Unfortunately India didn't possess the wisdom to do the same.
Clarkes been a flat track bully for a few years now. He was great when he was younger. Big centuries everywhere, but he's drifted off in recent years. I honestly don't think he has coped well with the loss of better cricketers around him. It's not that he doesn't have the talent, but that security blanket he had when a younger Hussey, Ponting and Gilchrist were all floating around, allowed him to play his natural game more freely. Now that he's got that extra burden to step up, he's shied away.
Step up and be counted Michael Clarke! Great innings!
Are India just replaying everything they did wrong in England all over again?
I thought this Aussie side was crap, and England were fortunate to play them and India when they did??
Declared on 329. Could've become the 2nd highest Aussie if he got 334.
World record is 400, 380 is the record score by an Aussie.
Agree that India are shocking outside their own conditions, the Aussies have played well but it's as if Dhoni gave up on the game once the Aussies took a 50 run lead.

Nobody said that England were fortunate to play India and Nobody really rates India that much, but still you're here talking nonsense about how India is over-rated etc etc.
You got worked up when the non english posters said that "Now the English will win the Euro 2012" after they defeated Spain in that Eng-Spain match thread but yet you're sprouting the same level of crap in this thread.
He's done it every single time, but is still lauded for being The Greatest Captain Ever.
fecking annoying.
He's a shit test captain and a shitter batsman.
Good session for India. Sachin is getting closer to the 100th 100. It's the only interesting thing remaining in this match, hope he gets it.
centuries by hussey and ponting probably mean they'll now be good for another year or so....hopefully denying the rebuilding long enough so that England can stroll to another ashes success.
Meanwhile in other news, India's power grid has gone into overload as 1 billion tv sets are turned of simultaneously
