If he is as good as people are making out then he is going to have much better options than Man Utd in the Europa poxy Conference.

Clearly.. doesn't mean we shouldn't be bothered if he goes to our biggest rivals who are already the best team in the world though :wenger:

Info: Looking for a midfielder, #Liverpool targets Aurélien Tchouameni . • Contacts have already been initiated between the parties. • The #Monaco midfielder is interested in the idea of playing in the Premier League.

If Liverpool get him and we pass him up, I'm going to be soo pissed at the start of next season no matter who we get in. I'm fed up with not moving in for players quick enough.

Is what it is. Liverpool have been amazingly run for years, and will continue to be better run than Man Utd in the immediate future too. No point throwing ourselves off buildings everytime it happens.

If Liverpool and Real Madrid are seriously interested, it is very difficult to imagine him joining United. It won't be because we passed on him; it will be because he simply had far better options.

Personally I’ve rated this kid for a long time so be gutted to see him there. Hopefully he’ll go Madrid if they want him.

We are never going to sign him anyway, if there are strong interest among other top clubs.

Why would he want to choose us over clubs that have CL football and competing for trophies on all fronts?

Plus, I think his national teammate/midfield partner (ie Pogba) would advise him against joining us...

Last part was always a bit of wrench in our chances for him. He's idolized Pogba growing up and gotten the chance to play with him for France recently too so I don't know if we would have the same pull for him even if all things were equal. I say that all while knowing that he's often said that he was a United fan when he was younger

Love this “we were never getting him anyway” chat, he’s a Monaco player so there was every chance we could sign him, indeed we’ve been heavily linked. It’s only now that it seems that Madrid/scousers want him and we’ve missed out on CL that it’s unrealistic.

I’m sad that some of our fans call this guy overrated. Just watch him go to Liverpool and United end up regretting yet another bright talent. Have we not learnt from Fabinho?

Most of us wanted Fabinho.
Fair enough but I’m saying that the club was very slow and ponderous and there came Liverpool and pounced. I know we aren’t making Champions league next season which will be a big challenge in signing the best players but we need to be confident and just go for it and of course we will take a hit financially as well because every man and his dog knows our situation yet we need to look at it as a sacrifice.

Better days are ahead I reckon.

Do Liverpool have the money? They're wage heavy, a new deal for Salah in the offing?

RM linked to many, is the a new RM CBDC?

I don't think it was a case of the club being slow, but rather Mourinho wanting Matic. And both Matic and Fabinho player under Mourinho.

We were not ‘slow and ponderous’ - we were not interested. We wanted a different player, and got that player instead.

I'd expect so. They will be raking it in in CL prize money for their run to the final alone.

Bernardo Silva
Sadio Mané
Tony Kroos
Thiago Alcantara
just to name a few…

I believe the club were after all of them at one point or another. Just vetoed by shitty managerial regimes.

Kroos & Thiago are the massive kick in the balls for a combined £50m, considering our issues with midfield over the years.

We want anyone that looks good in another league don't we?
Surely we must have worked out it is 50/50 at best that players adjust to England and it is never a cheap exercise when we are concerned.

I don't get it right often but I was one of those saying that mane was exactly the kind of player we should be signing when he was at Southampton.

Pretty sure someone said... yeah, let's do what Liverpool do and sign midtable players from Southampton and expect to win things.

It's even less cheap when we buy domestically with more or less the same or worse hit rate...

I do think there's a element in the fan base that is more enthused about signing players from abroad. But I've also notice there's another element that can't look outside of the EPL.

For me recruitment is simple, and we should evaluate player potential on how said player fits into the style of play in question. So the profile of player is very important in trying to determine if he's the correct fit for the team.

Solskjaer said he wanted to press high and ended up signing Wan Bissaka and Maguire who aren't suited to pressing high. And they were the wrong profile of players to target for the approach in question.

I don't think many wanted Mane, but agree with the rest.
You’re probably right but I find that so odd.

First time I saw him was with Salzburg, later S’hampton. The thing I at least noticed was his ridiculous fast acceleration and his eye for spotting open spaces. It was impossible to not be impressed. I remember that summer, it was so frustrating to see first Mané then Van Dyke 6 months later go to Liverpool. If I recall it correct.

Mane wouldn't have looked any better than Rashford has playing in our team in fairness. Klopp is the major difference.
Mane was good long before he came to Liverpool. He worked his way up from Africa to France, Germany and them to Soton and Liverpool. It was his hard work and skill that got him this far.

Might well be the case but this team could ruin Mbappe mate nevermind Mane.

United are still probably looking at Ten Hags coaching staff...

Probably haven't even started on summer transfers.

You're absolutely spot mate. But unfortunately many didn't rate him at all when we were linked to him in 2014.
