Aurelien Tchouameni / Signs for Madrid

Isn't that what I said? I can't tell if you are agreeing or disagreeing with me? If all you can offer is money, well no, you don't end up with Chelsea and City. Those clubs offer more than money. They plan for prestige and have a vision in mind. And demand you deliver. That's the difference between City and PSG. That's the difference between Chelsea and Manchester United. Manchester United don't plan and don't have demands.

I guess so then. Sorry I didn't pick that up in your original response. What i meant was if we have a plan and identify the right players for a proper system, I don't have an issue with throwing money at those players initially to compensate for not having CL or not offering the chance of silverware from the start. But it sounds like you agree. Let's hope the club starts delivering on its end of the project.

Regarding Tchouamèni: the information we have is that it is very difficult and the Premier League is pushing hard

If Klopp wants him, it will be very difficult to persuade him to come

The Liverpool speculation comes from FootMercato, which is a awful outlet for reliability. Both FootMertcato and Le 10 Sports are poor sources in France.

RMC are the ones to listen to in France, and as yet they haven't said a lot.

We should have signed him last summer

No chance we get him, even if we're interested. Rumors say Madrid, Liverpool and PSG are interested so we'd be his 4th choice at best.

I strongly disagree with this mindset. When money is the only thing you can offer to entice players you end up with players that are most interested in that. The competitive and hungry players that want to win go elsewhere. So you end up with 3rd rate footballers that simply don't have other better options and high-paid mercenaries that aren't particularly interested in reaching the top and don't have the mentality for it.

Manchester United and PSG are prime examples of this.
The team is for sure not all mercenaries. Look at the academy players. I also think players would love to come here and be a part of the legacy that returns United to where it should be.

PSG, and our squad??? No idea how you compare.

I don't know why Tchouameni would go to City, Liverpool, or Real when those teams are already abundant with options in midfield. There is very little chance that he will play every single week. United is a better option in the sense that he will be a key figure in the next rebuild of the squad. He'd rot away on the bench at other teams. But this can also change if they choose to sell players and there is a gap that needs filling.
Because they will actually compete for major trophies and win things, something we haven’t been capable of doing over past 5 years, and nowhere near?

City midfield seems sorted for the future, but Liverpool has Henderson who's 32 this summer, and Madrid has Modric who's 37 and Kroos who's 32. He can easily fight for a starting place there.

Choose between a team that's winning titles and it's constantly in UCL semifinals or a team that's in crisis and hasn't won anything major in the last 10 years? It's a no brainer unless he's a United fan.

Madrid is always tough to get playing time, but yeah could see them playing Valverde and Camavinga either side of Tchouameni in 2 seasons as Casemiro becomes a reliable backup or moves on. Kroos is on his last legs I think, and Modric might finally age the season after next would be my guess, with lots of good stuff but more 60 minutes of good play then coming off next season.

That's such an Underwhelming Midfield devoid of any flair and lacking in creativity with three Midfielders who can be classed as hybrid CM/CDM with primary attribute being their Defensive ability that's why so called Madrid's interest in Tchoumeni barely makes sense unless they are ready to give up on Either Valverde or Camavinga because I aren't buying they would to go from Casemiro ,Kroos, Modric to Tchoumeni , Valverde and Camavinga that's just too functional and Limited One Dimensional midfield for Club like Madrid .

Could work if they bought Alexander-Arnold to play RB, but yeah otherwise I tend to agree, they need to replace Kroos or Modric, depending on if they want Camavinga on the left or as a DM.

Unclear who their next CM purchase will be. Camavinga and Valverde are young, so maybe they'll go for a veteran like Verratti or someone in their prime like Barella rather than a youngster like Bellingham. Probably a 2023 summer question anyways for them with this summer about striker.

I'm still holding out hope until a reputable outlet links him to another club. Dream signing.

He'd transform our midfield.

He is a huge Pogba fan. I wonder if people would be okay for Pogba to stay of it means , this guy is coming.

Only reason he will come here is if we hire Paul Mitchell and Mitchell manages to convince him. I can't see any other factor that he would pick us over the others.

Pool And Chelsea will also look for him and they have CL football
Chelsea have a solid midfield already.

Liverpools is hardly shabby either, I guess it depends whether he wants to be rotation there or start elsewhere.

They have Kante who's 31 and injury prone
Jorginho that I'm pretty much think that they want to replace
Kovacic
Saul
Loftus Cheeck
Barkley

Aren't good enough

In Liverpool he has more chance to win titles(at least in the near future), chance for CL football.
The only 2 things are : If he wants to be in the squad as a replacement for Fabinho(Because in ours he have a guaranteed spot) as you said and also does Pool even have the money for him ?

50-60m would be fair and cheaper than someone with a similar profile like Rodri.

They got 45m and 50m euros for Fabinho and Bakayoko a few years ago.

I just don't think we could pull it off, even he wanted to exclusively come to prem pool would be a much more likely option, they would need to replace fabinho and simply in a much better shape than we are.

They've also got Gilmour and Gallagher to come back. Certainly not an option i'd say they need big reinforcements in.

Liverpool's midfield of Thiago/Henderson/Fabinho is pretty set in stone, but as you say whether he wants to try and force his way into that side.

I think we've got as good as chance as anybody though. Hopefully ETH can sell it as an exciting project.

If Ronaldo stays he is also a good tool to use in enticing young players to join.
Yep, everybody of that age love him and Messi.

I think Ronaldo stays anyway, can't see him going elsewhere right now.

Didn't think I'd ever be saying this but if Liverpool have the interst and the money utll be hard for us to sign this chap. No CL footy makes it a tough ask.

Aurelien Tchouameni in 2019: "It’s always a pleasure to be compared to Paul Pogba… and he plays for a club that I like,” he told RMC Sport.

If the top 3 actually are after him I can’t see us having much chance. It feels like we’ve finally reached the point where we no longer shop in the same market as the biggest clubs.

It's surprising how down the opinions are, Liverpool have a world class player in this position. I'd say United have a decent chance, no UCL would allow the player to overcompensate on wages.

Get him and Mitchell here.

A DM should be our priority and he fits the profile that we are sorely lacking.

Well said man. Sick of reading the comments in here along the lines of 'why would he sign for us' 'we dont have CL football' '(I didn't realise that by finishing outside of top four this season we will miss out on CL football for the next 15 seasons) 'we are shit' and on and on it goes.

Very good chance he will come here, if missing out on CL football for a season is the deciding factor for him then he is another mercenary we don't need.
