This feels like Camavinga all over again. End up courting him all summer just for him to inevitably pick Madrid.
 
Hopefully he is not the next Pogba. Because that implies he will have a rough career at United.

Thanks for sharing that.

I clearly remember at the time that his social media activity as a teenager was very favourable towards United. And then he gave the interview to RMC, and said he really liked the club Pogba played for. Doesn't mean we'll sign him, but unlike Camavinga who was a Madrid fan by all accounts, Tchouameni has given the impression that he has a soft spot for United.
 
A midfield of this guy, Neves , Fred and McT with Hannibal lurking in the background.

Would take him or Rice but given the prices quoted for Rice give me this guy any day of the week instead please

He seems more like the type of player we should have had during Pogba his time here. To play next to Pogba. Pogba and him worked very well together for France didnt they?
 
Whoever we are in for, I just hope it's wrapped up as quickly as possible. I dont want any sagas
 
We need to ask another question : Is Ancelotti going to stay at Madrid ?

I think that if Murtough and ETH will talk to Tsouameni - we have a chance
 
He's out of our league. It's good that we are shooting our shot though. Nothing wrong with giving it a good go.
We seem to be losing our attraction a bit tbh, turned down by Camavinga, Haaland, Bellingham (allegedly).
Hopefully ETH can propel us back to the top.

That would be an insane window. Even without Timber those 3 would be a huge improvement IMO.

Again possible but I’ll be amazed if it happens.
 
Do Madrid actually need him? Do they need a CM/CDM? What do they actually need? CB? Fullbacks?

I'm just asking because even though I know they don't particularly work that way; if they maybe concentrating on other needs instead.
 
A lot of posters in here don't seem to realise how good he is. He's the best midfielder on the market right now easily. Better than Rice, Neves and certainly better than Ndidi.
 
Madrid are intent on signing him so I wouldn't get too excited about this one.
 
We should have jumped on this guy last summer when we could have had a relatively free run at him. It was obvious we would need to replace Kante at some point. This kid always seemed like the perfect player to step into the Kante sized hole.

Don’t think it’s Kante that needs replacing yet. I think it’s increasingly likely that Jorginho goes back to Italy this summer.

No reason to think we won’t still be after this kid to replace him.

Tchouameni now though would mean a season to adjust then take over from Kante fully.

I don’t see any reason why Tchouameni couldn’t adapt quickly to the PL and start for Chelsea, Liverpool or United. The only club he wouldn’t get into midfield for is City but that’s more of a style choice.

Regardless I’m not getting my hopes up for this one. Mind you Matic is reportedly leaving the same day these links pop up….. No don’t do this to yourself…..

He’s still very solid but for the past few weeks Tuchel prefers having legs in midfield and has opted not to start Jorginho. And yes, I do think Jorginho misses playing in the slower, less demanding Serie A. He and his agent have made no secret about fancying returning there one day.

I think he goes to Juve this summer and we target a new, more athletic and dynamic midfielder. A strong, defensive-minded one since we already have Conor Gallagher returning and thus don’t need a new #8 type.

So this Tchouameni link makes sense for Chelsea just as much as it does for United. We’ve been linked with him for like 2 years.

Tchouameni fills the Kante hole better than anyone I can think of, not named Rice. I don't think we necessarily need to specifically replace Jorginho. Kovacic will take on a greater role if Jorginho leaves. Gallagher returns. Kante's powers are waning and he's pretty injury prone now and we have to start gradually phasing him out soon.
 
Not that I have a clue about what Tchouaméni intends to do or not but athletes seldomly pick a club because they support or like it. It's their job and they are competitors, money and chances of success are generally more important.

Casemiro isn't getting any younger and Valverde fills another role in their MF

At this point in time a CDM, a RB and probably a CB to move Alaba to LB position.
