If he's interested in coming here we should be going all out for him as he's the best player we could sign this summer IMO. The lack of CL puts us at a disadvantage though. Also 60 million euros would be a fecking steal!

He certainly seems like a sensible option if it's possible. While I'm now convinced Rice is capable of the step up in quality, the price tag is likely to be prohibitive and West Ham themselves still have a chance of Champions League football via the Europa League.
Two midfielders this summer is an absolute must though, and one of them has to be defensive. We're far too easy to play through right now.

If he has interest from Real Madrid and Chelsea why would he wait even the year?
United is a step up compared to Monaco but the bold part is a key point that people should keep in mind when they later look at players' wage and berate them. That's the only sure thing that we can offer.

He’s 22. Any club he joins could be out of the CL within 1 year. This idea players choose based on that is a fallacy. We signed Pogba, Mikhitarian and Zlatan without CL. Maguire turned down city for us without CL. As you say he’ll look at the project. I think he’s Madrid bound though.
He might if he thinks Ten Hag is a coach who can get the best out of him. We may also be able to offer him a starting role and maybe he would "like the project" at United and think that longer term we will be in the CL more often than not

I don't think it's a problem either - we are getting a new manager and if he sees that he wants to work with him & vice versa then that will trigger a move.
Only hope we've got is the uncertainty around PSG and Madrids managers next season. If Ten Hag can get in early and convince him of the project I'd be over the moon, don't see it happening though

He told RMC Sport in 2019, that he really liked Man Utd. He has also liked a lot of content the club has shared on social media during that period.

Murtough and Ten Hag definitely need to meet with him as soon as possible to convince him of the project, that's the only way he's coming here. Let him know that he'll be the key cog in our system, and let's face it he would be.
There is lot of Uncertainty around Chelsea that could play against them and honestly I just don't get Real Interest in him they have already got Camavinga and Valverde who themselves are quite young and promising and have similar profile if I am not mistaken that of defensive box to box or DM they need to add somebody creative and with flair to be eventual replacement of Modric and Kroos .
Otherwise it's just much of muchness .

RMC asked him about being compared to Pogba and after praising Pogba he finished off by saying that Pogba played for a club he really likes. Man Utd wasn't even brought up, until Tchouameni himself alluded to him really liking the club that Pogba played at.
That doesn't mean he doesn't like Real Madrid, but from watching the player since he was at Bordeaux, he's given me the impression that if he comes to England, then United might well be his destination of choice.

Real Madrid will probably sign Tchouameni, but if they don't then I think we have a good chance.
And for all we know, ten Hag could sell the project to Tchouameni, which may sway him.
We need to get out of this habit of paying top dollar for the next shiniest French lad. We need at least 5 new players in the summer, and the only way that we are going to build and breathe life into this team is by bringing in decent proven players with the right attitude. Like Ruben Neves, Kalvin Phillips, Rudiger. We need a new spine, not another prospect that blows the budget.

Erik ten Hag himself is pushing for this move, per the above. So the hope is that he could potentially entice a player like Tchouameni due to our greater need and the potential project on offer, which entails a proactive, attacking, brand of football.
Which also provides Tchouameni a platform to be possibly the most important cog in the ten Hag system.

I'm hoping with Ten Hag we'll be able to tempt a few more talented players here for the right reasons, such as providing substance relating to tactics, short term and long term goals of achieving success, instead of nonsense about Disney land, or simply handing them obscene wages to win the battle for their signature.

I agree, we've now got a coach who could sell a project on the back of his exciting brand of football. It may not work with Tchouameni, but ten Hag also having helped develop a number of young players in his career thus far, will also be a selling point, especially for young players.
Getting him would be a master stroke. Him and Bissouma would be the two midfielders we should bring in.
A summer of ten Hag, Tchouameni, Timber and Antony coming in, with Pogba, Cavani, Lingard and couple of others heading out the door I might spontaneously combust
