  • Full set of actual emojies. You know, those the entire world uses and that are easily accessible through your phone/computer keyboards.
  • Push notifications. You know, getting notified on your phone when someone tags/quotes/PMs you.
  • WYSIWYG-editor. This is one of the few sites I frequent where you can't drag and drop stuff into the editor. This is the only site I have to paste an image url into. No one knows what image urls are nowadays.
  • Progressive web app. Personally I don't mind using browser on the phone but apps are the norm now. XF offer a cool and easy to use PWA.
  • Add more than 5 users to convos.
  • Mute convos. I have turned off all e-mail notifications for convos just because I can't mute notifications for certain (group) convos. Oh and I wouldn't need to be e-mailed in the first place if push notifications were a thing on here.
  • Links unfurled. No one posts links on here anymore. All links come through tweets. Previews make links more attractive.
  • Article section where important/trending threads are displayed as articles. You click on the article to go to thread. Would help those who are only interested in news and not the other 90 % gibberish.
  • Media embedding. When was the last time this was updated on the caf? Vine hasn't existed for like a decade. The sites used for football gifs/clips nowadays aren't supported. Again, most external stuff on here comes through twitter (the rest through youtube).
  • Planned threads as mentioned in the posts above. This is obviously possible as proven by Lucky McLuckerson.
  • Themes/styles. Even 15 years ago you had forums offering you various themes. We've had this standard one since forever.
  • Gif integration in the general forum. Again, image/gif urls are irrelevant nowadays.
  • Highlighting correct answers in Q&A threads. Take this thread as an example, most of the questions asked here have been answered dozens of times.

Hope you guys are aware that this place is still relevant despite of the functionality, not because of it. Functionality wise it's stuck in 2010.
 
Yeah, the timed thread feature would be great so all the Euro threads could be made easily.
 
Thanks for the comprehensive list @Samid. It's a timely reminder for me to pull my finger out and get some of these things implemented - several of those items have been on the TODO list for a long time.

There's some technical hurdles to overcome first though so it will be a gradual process. I'm not committing to all of those by the way, some won't be done whatever happens, like:

- full emojis
- image uploading (i.e. drag and drop into WYSIWYG)
- multiple themes (although a dark theme is on the list)

If you had to rank your top 3 on that list what would they be? (that goes for anyone else taking an interest in this)

That may help me prioritise accordingly.

I think media embedding might need a refresh. Especially the ongoing issues with Twitter links now that Musk screwed it all up.
 
@Niall I’ve noticed the past few months that when I’m browsing the site on mobile (iOS Chrome browser) I’ll click on one thread and it’ll be fine, then I go back to the forum list and click on another and it will just fail to load. It just kind of sits there loading the page but it never happens. I need to close the tab and do a new one to get it working again.

Can't you just click 'forgot password' and have a link for password renewal e-mailed to the address you're registered with?
 
Not getting tweet notifications anymore. I've tried uncheck/check the options, but no help. Any advice?
 
How does one change the profile content of "Supports"? I've looked through the profile settings, up and down, and for the life of me I can't find it. I set my profile "Supports" about ten years ago and haven't been able to change it since, and it drives me nuts! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's a set and stick kinda thing. Only an Mod can change it.

Or is such a request going to result in sabotage and hilarity?

That field is actually for us to gather info about how the forum is made up of fans from different teams - it shouldn’t be used in the fashion you describe

So I've just emptied the field now for Simon.
 
My reply box is greyed out, so I can't select things like bold/italics, insert hyperlinks/media, or save/delete drafts. The only things that work are the preview and reply buttons. Any way to fix this?

I was halfway through typing out a lengthy OP for a thread on Friday and saved it as draft. How do I now recall the draft?
 
Every so often the desktop version of the website freezes in that none of the links/navigation works, you have to right-click and open in new tab to get links to work. Any quick fix?
