Ashes I - 2013 - In England

Dharmasena is getting sacked but I heard some noise. interesting to see what Snicko says.

Snicko says it was out.

If Smith's not out 1st Innings how is KP? Get rid of DRS if the Umpires can't use it.

If the Aussies break the next partnership then it's probably all over for under 100.

I think it was out. Good job by Dharmasena, unlucky England that he reserved his best for them.

I thought there was the tinyest of edges on the last frame of hotspot

It sounded thuddy and not nicky that's what I mean a noise can be anything

Lets just be realistic why at 2 for shit is he planting he front foot trying to slap through the line. It's his own drupidity

He was given out on field though, that's not the fault of DRS. Khawaja's was worse in the 1st innings, as that was overturned.

Apparently Hill didn't think Trott was LBW because of an inside edge, really don't trust these Umpires. You could tell Pietersen was certain he didn't hit it but was worried to use up the review.

Rain will come down soon, don't worry about England losing this match.

I can't wait to see Clarke's face if there is 1 or 2 wickets left for Aussies to get and it proper chucks it down

I agree, but I also think from Pietersen's reaction that he didn't think he hit it. I don't blame him for the review.

Yup it was a very faint one. KP had every right to go for the review.

We need that old gif of that man clapping in a cinema to sum up Englan'd batting efforts thus far.

Come on you Aussies!

England's top order has been poor for most the series, losing early wickets nearly each time they've batted.

How many times have England been 30-3 in this series?

Too many, bit worried about the current structure of our top order. We used to be all abiout Cook/Strauss/Trott all protecting the lower order from facing the new ball, but too many times they are exposed in recent months.

I don't think there's any doubt he hit it so its the correct decision but they surely can't carry on with hotspot after this series, hawkeye is fair enough, reliable, useful. But hotspot has shown time and time again so far that it just isn't anywhere near accurate enough. All it does is undermine the 3rd umpire in situations like this or put doubt when there shouldn't be.

Get rid of HotSpot please, so useless, on reflection I guess there isn't enough to overturn but DRS is so predictably frustrating now.

Clarke will take a wicket.

I think it's time to accept BCCI as our saviours. They were so ahead of their time

DRS was fine and then this series happened, even Dhoni was nailing it in the Champions Trophy

Root scored 180 odd chasing 340 for Yorkshire off 100 odd overs against Durham earlier this season. Watching him scratch around like John Crawley when he can rotate the strike quite easily for me is a sad indictment of the mindset coming from the management team, it's just been overbearingly negative since Day 2 from England. They are a methodical team but they're 2-0 up in this series, they lack killer instinct.

The English mindset. There are some English fans who hope we lose today so the series is more 'competitive'

Laughable.

 Probably the same guys who didn't think spanking the Aussies at Lord's was much fun. This is a really good team, as good as England have had for a long while, all it's missing is a Flintoff at 6 and then it's scary good. Some guys are out of form but a positive mindset really does do wonders, even if it rains for the rest of the day it would have been nice to get to 80-1 after 20 overs and say to the Aussies we reckon we can beat you any type of way.

Change of topic, randomly came across Billy Bowden's wiki page. Who writes this shit? Apparently phrases such as 'crooked finger of doom', 'crumb-sweeping' wave of the arm and 'double crooked finger six-phase hop' are all well known terminology phrases

I think there is a lot in that. Cook, Trott and Root all need to be more positive. There is no point scratching around for a couple of hours to get a 20 or 30. Trott was imperious in the Champions Trophy. He has shown he can be positive.
