Ashes I - 2013 - In England

It'd be nice if England attempted to go after the bowlers - but everytime in recent history they've attempted to do that it leads to a horrible collapse. Plus I'm sure Root has his eye on a century and Bresnan a half century so neither of them will want to jeopardise that, which with the amount of time left in the game and with no rain forecast is understandable.

Hah, actually saw footage of that game. Bob Willis absolutely fecking smmmmmASHed us in the second innings.

 There is a Mayo vs .................... Someone.. On youtube that I watched a couple of weeks ago . Aussie rules is fecking rubbish.

edit: Full game, Mayo vs Donnegal.

Yawn.

Sort it out you fecking Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime. How on earth is that not out.

What are Sky on about - that clearly looked to hit the ground and then be scooped up by Smith's left hand.

I think it's the second angle that did it, it looks to me like the ball hits the ground after it hits his fingers and before he controls lifts it up.

I thought it hit the ground first as well but those who play the game will tell you that was out.

That was clearly out.
Some shocking calls in this series so far.

I guess the next debate is, how many runs do we want before declaring/get bowled out?

I think we have more than enough already, but do we try and utterly demoralise them by just grinding on? Or by having a dart for a hour trying to accelerate and run them ragged?

Might want to have a bowl at 'em for half an hour tonight but there's no rush and England can bat through tonight and have choice of roller tomorrow before declaring

I'm a big fan of 30mins aggressive bowling at the end of the day to try and knock over a batsman or two, especially as the openers will have spent 2.5 of the last 3 days stood around in 30 degree heat, whilst our bowlers will have, except for during their batting stints, spent the last day sat with feet up.

Gower is still banging on about the catch when second angle shows it clearly on the ground and being scooped up.

I'd be happy with that. It's difficult to predict how many runs we will make. You would think Root isn't quite good enough yet to go on and make a huge hundred, so perhaps he'll fall for around 100-120 runs. Then there's Bell, who has been brilliant, but surely he can't make yet another big score? Our tail is useful for sticking around a while as well.

That's what made me laugh this morning, our "night watchman" scored a century last week in a first class game, we don't really have any out & out mugs with the bat anymore. I remember watching a team with Gus Fraser, Devon Malcolm & Phil Tufnell in it

Anderson's pretty hopeless these days, used to be fairly reliable as well!

I was about to put a brick through my TV when thankfully Bumble turned up and pointed out what bollocks Gower was talking. It was 50-50 at best, how the feck can you give somebody out on that?

Exactly, if there is any doubt it goes to the batsman, that's the rules.

Funny situation this early in a match. My natural instinct is to yell "declare!" at the TV (as so often happens when England are playing), but I guess if we declare now, there's no way we can draw but we could lose. We should definitely start swinging at everything though, would be nice to have a few balls at them this evening.

To be fair, we are definitely upping the scoring now.

Smith ought to work on his bowling and play as the specialist spinner. With some improvement, he can be as good as any of the other Aussie spinners probably.

I would have made them follow on. Batting on is just daft, particularly as there are showers forecast for Monday.
