Arturo Vidal

He mentioned Konoplyanka as a target about a month ago and I don't think I've seen anything on him since.

Is there any evidence from legitimate sources that Vidal is on his way?
There are legitimate sources to show that we are genuinely interested in Vidal. Next to nothing on how Vidal himself feels about a move. The only thing I've seen him say is:
He told Tuttosport: "Will I stay at Juventus? I do not know, I just think about the World Cup and the national team now.

"After the World Cup we will see what will be my future. Spain has the world's best, but they found a Chile with great desire."

This is the normal sort of chat you hear from players who think they could be moving.

which are?

Mark Ogden and Jamie Jackson (Telegraph and Guardian)
didn't jamie jackson say that shaw deal was off?.... and really i dont think any transfer gossip printed in a paper is legitimate sources considering the amount of BS every single journalist prints every summer

He's been spot on this Summer so far.
Not really, he said a lot of negative shit about Shaw and everyone else, while nobody else said the stuff about shaw about the bid being rejected, or a raised bid or anything else. In the end, he was wrong as they accepted our offer of 27m.

When was the last time Ogden had any news? If he had no follow up stories it's usually just pure rumour and little fact

I don't want to be a cynic here but this is very reminiscent of the Fabregas saga last summer.

well at least we had confirmed interest in fabregas story which isnt the case with vidal.... this reminds me more of the whole 'CR7 is coming hole $hite', where their was literally no evidence saying anything of the sort other than loads of fans really wanted him back so had convinced themselves it was happening.

We twatted around with the Fabregas saga last summer, making silly bids and just dithering in general. Though if our recent dealings so far are anything to go by we're not going to make the same mistakes. If van Gaal and Woody want Vidal and Juventus are willing to sell at a price, then we'll get him IMO.

Van Gaal and Woodward should surely know whether they want Vidal or not, so you have to wonder why a bid hasn't been made if they do. Of course there could be any number of reasons unknown to outsiders, but my experience of United's transfer dealings is that delay is rarely a good thing.

Doesn't seem to be any real reports saying that we are in for him. As we saw after Ander's transfer, the English press have no idea what we are doing since Moyes is gone, all info they have is leaked by the other club, nothing comes from us. All the pieces written in the English papers are assumptions, half of the words used there are may, maybe, probably, etc.

Also, the most reliable guy when it comes to Italian football(Dimarzio) says that it's nothing in it. So, I personally am reluctant to get my hopes up.

Good point.

Also should be pointed out that the Herrera/Shaw-deals-have-been-done-for-X-amount-of-months camp have a very strong argument.

30mill + Nani. I'd rather sell Valencia, Young before Nani.
i'd guess nani is been talked about as part of the deal as juve have long been rumored to be intrested in him. so people are just melding the rumors together

anyway no one who could afford youngs wages would want him... so where stuck with him.... and for me i prefer Valencia over nani, they have both been poor for 2 seasons but at least Valencia will track back.....

Maybe they are ''preparing a bid''
A term newspapers use that i dont have a scooby doo what it means......

Is Woodward sat at his desk counting out notes and emptying his copper jar?

Why would a bid even need preparing?

'hello is that Juventus'
'yes'
'Hi its big Woody here from MUFC. well give you 40 million for ArturON Vidal'
'Make it 45'
'OK done, ill just leave the preseason training camp for urgent transfer business, tie up a few sponsership deals on route and ill be there next summer'

So what you're saying is, Vidal will move to Chelsea for a low fee next summer?

Damnit. Why do we do all the work of dislodging a player for them?

Really hope its concrete news, words wouldn't describe how good this signing could possibly be for us!

Sign Vidal and you have to look at this squad and say we are title contenders IMO.

This is going to be the heartbreak of the summer. Oh well, I'll enjoy the ride.

That's my gut feeling too. Though to be fair, I didn't expect us to pull off the van Persie and Mata signings either what that interest first arose.

This will be a tough one to get done that's for sure.

Most definitely.
Agreed. We would have arguably the strongest midfields in the Prem with Vidal coming in, he really is that good. And with our attacking options we would look great with Vidal and Herrera in behind the likes of Rooney, RvP and Mata. Get a quality CB in and we'll be looking great for the start of the season.

Absolutely. I agree that we are only two quality players away from having a very capable squad. Hopefully we can being them in.

More like Thiago. Lots of rumours but no concrete bid from us, then Bayern click their fingers and he comes running.

I'm not totally convinced he'd move. The Juve tattoos, the fact he's their main man and they are in the Champions League. The only thing we could do is give him a massive contract. I hope we have a backup if we can't pull it off.

Manchester United want Arturo Vidal. The English club like the midfielder a lot and asked for information, there have been some preliminary talks between the clubs, but they didn’t start a negotiation. There are no indications that Manchester United offered €50M plus Nani for the Chilean ace, as reported by other sources. At the moment, Juventus do not intend to sell Vidal, there are no openings on that front. Vidal is still a target of the English club, even if Juventus plan to keep him.

EDIT: Just to confirm that we are interested, very interested for those doubting Thomasses who've questioned whether we're in for him. Di Marzio is as reliable as you'd get for Italian news.

I think he's are right in that we have a choice whether to go all out for the best player (Vidal this time, Fabregas last time) but risk getting no one (well, Fellaini last time which is the same thing) or forget about Vidal and go for a more realistic alternative like Carvalho

Agreed, this is vital. I think the Club have learnt the lessons of last summer though, so I'm sure they have a back-up plan in place.

Would prefer Pogba personally, which is so annoying considering we actually had him. Of course, Vidal would be a dream too.

The trouble with a 'back up plan' is that these sagas involving the very top players tend to go on until pretty much deadline day which leaves little time to implement the back up plan - see Herrera last summer (we had to implement Davie's Plan Z in the end)

I'm sure we do. Think we will push as hard as we can with Vidal but if there's no joy we'd wrap up another CM, probably Carvalho. A bit like Hummels being our number 1 CB target but seems we might go for Vermaelen/De Vrij if that doesn't work out.
