Arturo Vidal

I am pretty sure if 40m is the fee set by Juventus, lots of other clubs will definitely offer more and CL as well to the player.

So unless Vidal himself wants to play here, I don't see it happening. I just hope the Ed/LVG have also got realistic targets lined up, when this eventually goes tits up.

There has been no concrete info on this except for media bollocks.

What i don't understand is, if we were offering him round to anyone in order to get him off the wage bill, why then give him a new contract? Can't be to secure a decent fee for him.
That was with Sir Alex at the helm. It was Moyes that have him the big contract. I'm happy with it fwiw, LVG could be exactly what Nani needs. Young on the other hand, no one can help him. Painfully average and on 100k plus, We'd need to pay a part of his salary even if someone agrees to take him on the cheap.

Apparently Pogba is available for £60m..

No chance man. Juve are thought to want to hold onto Pogba for 1 or 2 years & then sell him for a world record fee. The Vidal money would get them some new additions.

I think they're mad lettin him go - build the team around him & Pogba & if they're skint - get some investment. There surely must be plenty of billionaire Juve fans willing to buy into the club. Thats probably the problem - the owners dont want to sell any stakes in the club...

Their suicidal loss & our dicks-out gain, if we get him...

If Juventus keep to their trend then they'll rather sell Vidal for 40m then Pogba for 60m. It all depend on the players though. Will Pogba create a havoc if he doesn't move elsewhere?

I am loving the thought of Herrera and Vidal linning up together.

The last time we had 2 box to box in the same team was Keane and Ince. and it worked very very well.

I would go mad if it would be 3 man mid with Carvalho behind them 2. But let's not get carried away, this is not the Playstation ;)

That mid would have everything, goals, passes, tackles, energy, vision. A perfectly weighted combination for a 4-3-3

Not going to happen, unfortunately. Contemplating about Vidal is just another muppet dream, if Vidal were to leave we'll probably see him at somewhere like Real Madrid.

Considering they're on verge of signing kroos and Barca have already said they are not interested then you're wrong.

Vidal is buyable for Utd. So is pogba for that matter - it just depends if we meet the asking price.

If not RM/Barca, other elite clubs with access to Champions League football like Chelsea and City will probably snatch him in front of our eyes (especially latter with rumors of Yaya leaving).

I'd be over the moon if we get him, mind. But right now I don't see it happening.

Whilst I'm sure we could agree a fee with juve for pogba I'm not sure Manchester would appeal to him as much as say Paris or madrid for that matter.

Personally I'd prefer pogba just because of his age but frankly I'd be more than happy with either

Pogba actually likes manchester - has many close friends and his brother nearby. Just because these cities seem more glamorous than what's on our own doorstep doesn't mean it's right for a player.

Besides, pogba is about money. If we pay up, he will move. Madrid have other targets, PSG may hold an interest but FFP may have an impact on what they can do.

Champs League is not a factor if you're paying the most money - and it seems we are.

Yaya wont leave.

That was roughly 20 years ago.

Football has changed a lot in that time and I don't think it'd work, too many gaps for one person to cover if the other has gone forward. Need to play three in midfield.

Nothing new in that article tbh. Same old.
You're overlooking the most important thing about this article - It's written by Jamie Jackson! The muppet killer himself. The dream shatterer. The optimism nazi.

If he says it, then I believe Vidal is at least a target, which is something I still wasn't even 100% sure about.

This is the same kent that said the Shaw deal was most likely off. I hate jamie jackson.

Not saying I like him either, but he did say that we weren't in for Fab and Kroos and took some stick but proved correct. His comments on Shaw were also backed up by others as it sounded like Southampton we trying to pull our pants down even further and I do think there might have been a stage where we prepared to walk (or at least try and bluff).

Although the article says nothing new, it's reported by Jackson / Guardian, we have heard from other more reliable journos that Vidal is a target. I think it's safe to say we are giving it a go and IMO Carvalho will be backup option.

I would like to think we will find out either way before the start of the tour.

I'm pretty sure Jackson didn't say it was off, just that it had stalled.

Which it pretty much dd.

Would be disappointed if we wasn't in for him. Think we are going to need LVG back at the ranch to help make some of these deals happen, cause the ones to date we broke the back of before he arrived....

Disappointing?! It would be a fecking travesty. Would be the biggest transfer disappointment in years for me

We're definitely in for him IMO. Waaay too much smoke to be no fire. Whether we'll land him or not though is another matter entirely.

I feel Vidal is this window Fabregas or thiago. However, parallel between those two players can already be drawn with our suppose aqusition of Toni Kroos. Nevertheless, Vidal would be a good addition as a player, but how would we fit him in since we already bought a player of his ilk in Andrea Herrera? I can not see those two being a responsible enough pairing to play in a duel midfield partnership unless one of the two change their game to become more defensive.

As opposed to what, Herrera and Cleverley/Fellaini/Carrick? They'll be fine together. You put the best box to box midfield alongside another very talented one and you have easily one of the best pairings in the league

Herrera and Carrick is more balanced. The problem is that these two players usually play behind a midfield anchor or deep lying playmaker. Without this protective shield, how will they adopt their game to ensure that the defense are not vunerable in the back. One of them would have to make the sacrifice and become more defensive in nature.

It wouldn't simply be one holding and one attacking, I think they'd continually switch roles during the game. It'd be like Yaya Toure and Fernandinho. If Yaya was a little younger and had a bit more stamina about him, the two would constantly interchange as to who holds and who goes forwards. It's better that way, less predictable.

Carrick should not be a starter going into next season, too old and slow. A direct replacement is needed.

Jackson essentially just leaves every possibility open without offering actual insight. He said Shaw had stalled (because there was a wait from the initial bid) but it was still likely to go through (cause everyone said so). Say Vidal's a target (most are reporting this, even if he's not no-one will know), then fluff it out with more gossip about Strootman, Hummels and then tidbits about players we've already signed. Email in the copy, collect his wages.
