But what I don't get is why significantly weaken your team to fund other transfers that may not necessarily work out? I mean, getting rid of Vidal for say 60 million euros and buying Sanchez for say 40 million euros and having 20 million left over doesn't seem to really leave them in a much better position than they were.. No?

You mean like selling Ronaldo and buying Valencia?

Except we didn't do it willingly.. it would have been like us saying "Oh other areas of our team are weak.. Let's sell Ronaldo and purchase a good left back and a solid right back"

We did it knowingly...which is just as bad!

So this man can be the Caf's muppet God?

He looks a bit like Dutch out of The Shield.

They have a very strong compliment in CM. Pogba, Vidal, Asamoah, Marchisio, Pirlo. Yes he's their best CM, but he's also 27 meaning if they want to cash in then now would be that time. It's been rumoured Conte wants a formation change which would need wingers and Juve don't have wingers. All the class wingers cost money and they don't enough to fund their purchases. Loosing Vidal will not affect them as much plus it would seem they can build their midfield around Pogba.

Yeah but you could also say that at 27 he is entering his prime whereas Pogba could be a few years away from his.. Anyway, I don't necessarily think this is all bullish*t and I am quite optimistic about our chances.. but I am just skeptical about this "funding other transfers" reasoning. Bird in the hand two in the bush and all that

Considering that Sport is the one reporting this story, I'd take it with a huge pinch of salt.

I don't know, something that isn't from some moron on Twatter?

Sport Witness is also a wank source.

Sports Witness is not a source nor ITK. They simply translate foreign based media articles.

The people who have all said we're very much interested in Vidal are:

Gazetta dello Sport
Tuttosport
Sport (Spain)
Telegraph - Ogden
The Times - Ducker

I'm not sure what you want then.

The needing funds issue is certainly not something plucked from thin air. Juve's debt increased yet again this year with them again reporting a loss. They sure need money if they're going to land top targets. I'm not convinced they have the funds.

That's in the gossip and rumours section though, which I'd take with a pinch of salt.

Ducker said that we're monitoring the situation, which is fair enough. It's hardly a comment I'd get excited about though.

I think this guy is actually off, reckon we'll be competing with mainly Arsenal and Bayern for him though which will make things difficult.

Buzz off with your negativity. Leave us muppets to dream. Anything for Arturo

I love muppetry, but this one just reeks of the Fabregas/Thiago/Sneijder shit. I'll happily join if something convinces me otherwise.

Well we have to have a transfer saga every year that lasts all summer and doesn't come off in the end. It has become a tradition. The Vidal story has potential to be this summer's transfer saga.

It seems that Juventus are indeed looking to sell him, they would've made a statement refuting this if it werent true. Several reports say that they need the cash and are willing to part with Vidal to generate cash, he is 27 so the time to sell is now. That makes sense if they want to change formation and are willing to depend on Pogba which is not a bad plan.

The question for me now is can we beat off the competition? I would say yes only if we give them a large fee and a high salary for him. So it is indeed possible to sign him me thinks but I dont know if we will or not.

Even if we offer more than anyone else, he could still tell them "I am not leaving unless you accept Bayern's (just an example) offer", right? If they reallllly want to sell he would force their hand.

Sport Witness are pretty good at what they do. They are also good for telling us what is and what isn't a reliable source, which is what we are all looking for.

That would be true normally but I don't see him being a Pep type CM and Bayern are still pissed off at Vidal for snubbing them last time around they tried to sign them. Apparently he gave his word.

Also, Real seem to be after Kroos and Barca have not been linked much since they've got Rakitic and looking to sign Suarez for megabucks. Chelsea are possibly the only snag here along with City but we can beat them off since he'd be our star man if we could bid successfully.

Exactly, it's about the two clubs' levels of need. We need him more than they do, so we will potentially pay more for him than it makes sense for them to refuse. If they need wingers or full backs it makes sense fire them to sell a midfielder, and it's him or Pogba if they want massive cash while only losing one body. And the27

Yep, I feel the same. I just can't see this happening. Would love to be proved wrong.

I feel that we'll bring in a De Jong, Khedira type player - not Vidal or Kroos who could both walk into any CL side.

I'm trying not to get to drawn into this one but it's so hard not to

You're right thats a possibility he has played in Germany before so he may want to go back there plus CL football, Bayern, playing under Pep could all be factors. Still I think crazy wages could change his mind i.e parity with Rooney/RvP.

The Fabregas/Thiago/Sneijder situations were not even the same, so why are people lumping them together ??

The Fabregas one isn't the same, because we actually did submit bids. The other two have a similar ring to this one though. Do you even know the situation in those sagas? I most certainly don't, as most of it was made up rubbish that people desperately tried to give legs.

I was on the Herrera bandwagon from the beginning, because the early reports had a lot of certainty about them, they were realistic. Not to mention the Spanish source that kicked it all off was highly reliable.

Guess the hold up in any solid news is Vidal isn't back from holidays yet.

A true muppet never needs someone else to convince him to join in :smirk:

Im a little dissapointed we have not heard anything of an official bid
