Arturo Vidal

Didn't that bloke Jimmy or someone from the movie Goal shatter his meniscus or something? Looked pretty nasty in that film.

I'm calling it. This ain't happening. It hit me today that we're being asked to pay £40million for a 27 year old who may have long-term knee issues. It doesn't sound like a United signing. I want him to join, but I've officially given up.

Good luck lads. I really hope the strong muppets out there can bring this one home.

Signed,
Man Down.

Alessandro Del Piero is impressed with Max Allegri, warned not to sell Arturo Vidal and confessed he “could return to Juventus.”

The legend faces his old team today for the A-League All-Stars in Sydney, kicking off at 10.30 UK time (09.30 GMT).

“Imagine the dive back into my memories playing in front of Claudio Marchisio, Gigi Buffon, Andrea Pirlo... Lads I shared an era with at Juventus or even the incredible adventure of winning the World Cup,” he told Tuttosport.

This isn’t quite the Juve he used to know, as Antonio Conte resigned just two days into pre-season training and has been replaced by Allegri.

“I received a text message from a friend with the news, even if I had heard a little something before then... I think the real story of this split can only be known and explained by the protagonists. The two sides of the story.

“It was a real shake-up. Usually these things happen at the end of the season, so it’s decidedly more unusual to see it at the start of pre-season training.

“I think Allegri has already created a good rapport with the lads. I could see them joking around between themselves, even with the President, so Allegri seems to be settled in already.

“At Juve everyone is well aware this is a very delicate moment. They are opening up a new era.”

Del Piero gave President Andrea Agnelli some advice on the Vidal situation, as reports suggest Manchester United offered €45m for the Chile midfielder.

“Juve’s value will be decided by what they can build now, the objectives they set themselves and how the transfer market pans out.

“Obviously, I am thinking of Vidal. It’s not that he is irreplaceable, but a great deal does change if he’s there or not.

“If you do decide to sell, then you need to spend that money wisely. You have to buy someone just as strong, although probably a pair of players, seeing as Vidal runs for two.

“His departure would change the balance of the team, even though a midfield with Pirlo, Marchisio and Pogba would still be very impressive.

“I also think the worth of this Juve will be given by their opponents. Last season broke records and that won’t happen again. It developed that way because Juventus are strong, but also as other teams were renovated.”

Del Piero insists he will continue playing for at least one or two more years, though Turin remains “my home.

“Obviously returning to Juve represents an option for the future, as I still have my house in Turin and could never say no to Juve. I am far too tied to the Bianconeri world.”

Thou shallt be ressurrecteth when the time cometh muppeth.

We'll all rejoice on Vidal-day, which is soon.

Too much chitter chatter to believe that it's all hot air, quickly recuscitate Hernandez - BFA

Interesting if ture, but at City vs Arsenal? I know he's Alexis agent as well but why would an agent attend their client games.

Might be because he finished finalizing the Medel transfer and decided to drop in for the Sanchez game since he was in the country. He is pretty close with Sanchez as well if I am not wrong.

He isn't going to sign now.

This has dragged on for too long. Juventus no longer have enough time to find a secure a replacement. They'll have told him he can't leave now.

Their midfield would be weakened if he leaves but it won't be in disarray by any means. They still have Marchisio, Pogba, Pirlo, Romulo and Pereyra with Asamoah more than capable of playing there as well. They will miss Vidal but they don't necessarily need to find a replacement.

Exactly.

Are GDS not abit confused that his agent is only meeting us today when according to them the deal has been done about 5 times?

Horncastle on BT (whether reliable or not) is saying we have until Friday, that is the deadline. I just hope it ends soon, this prolonged saga is annoying.

It would be great to have a goalscoring midfielder, but the ship has sailed now that we have Herrera who could help our attack through his through ball and intricate passing rather than goalscoring ability.

I rather we get Strootman or William Carvalho over Vidal at the moment. Maybe Powell can become our goalscoring midfielder if his development does not hit a stumbling block.

We'd probably be fine with Herrera and Vidal if we're playing 3 at the back. Both of them are more than competent defensively anyway.

I like the idea that Vidal's agent refuses to make a trip to England specifically to deal with Vidal's transfer. He has to tie it in with the Community Shield. If Vidal or Woodward can't wait that long to get things moving, well tough shit, he does what he wants.

So his agent is in the UK and it's less than a week before the season starts, if it's ever going to happen it will be in the next few days surely.

I'm so sick of this saga. It's been wank. I can't help but check the twitter discussion thread every morning when I wake up and inevitably it's a huge let down. Hate it. But I'm stuck in the same lame cycle. Woe is me. I wish I could actually get on with living my life. My wife just doesn't understand.

Man down.
Me to mate , ive even shaved my fellaini wig down to a Mohican in readiness for Vidal coming but as of yet its not happened and probably never will . :annoyed:

I'm going to give the club the benefit of the doubt on this one. If this was simply a case of meeting Juventus valuation, I do believe this deal would've been done a while ago. History shows were not ones to dally over the fee of players we really want. We pay over the odds for players all the time as evidenced by Shaw, Fellaini, Berbatov amongst others.

My theory is Juventus have placed a big fee that we're willing to pay, but have also asked for players like Nani and Hernandez as well which we aren't willing to do.And that is probably the sticking point and why things aren't moving.

I dunno, its weird, most sources (no comment on their reliability however) seem to think we've already agreed terms with his agent.

I am sure the deadline will extend for every 5 days till the end of the window. Maybe just maybe I won't be surprised if this goes on till the next window

Some may find this little biography on Vidal's agent, Fernando Felicevich, interesting:

Fernando Felicevich and his path of becoming a football agent

Until the age of 33, Fernando Felicevich never had contact with professional football. But life, sometimes, puts you in a place that you have not imagined.

He used to play rugby when he decided to study Advertising. He did his MBA in Paris and started working in a bank and in 2002 he arrived to Chile to work for McCann Erickson. He didn’t know, but all his preparation will be useful one day for working with football players.

What happened? He met Pablo Lenci, an old friend from his home, San Nicolás, who was in his last days as a defender and saw in Fernando the skills for being successful as an agent when he helped him to reach a good contract with Santiago Wanderers.

Alexis Sanchez, Arturo Vidal, Pablo Aimar, Gary Medel …

Many people say that Fernando was a really sociable guy and he quickly became a friend of some players like Patricio Ormazábal and Arturo Norambuena. Actually, this last one was an important part of Fernando’s career in football, as he was the one who recommended Alexis Sanchez to talk with Felicevich, when they were teammates in Cobreloa. As the Chilean internet site Qué Pasa says, Norambuena said to Alexis, when he was only 15, to consult with someone who was not in the football world, like Fernando. He wanted to protect this amazing player from other agent’s harassment.

Then, Felicevich made a crucial move: he traveled to the city of Tocopilla and talked personally with Alexis’ mom and offered more than just taking care of the economic part of things: he helped that young player in his troubles and attended to his needs while he was in Chile. Then, Alexis signed his first contract outside Chile, with Udinese, and after that he went to River Plate, in Argentina, to arrive later to the best Barcelona.

Alexis was the one who made it possible for Felicevich to get to know other young players like Gary Medel or Mauricio Isla. Since then, Fernando has worked as a football agent and today he has his offices in the city of Vitacura, near Santiago. He also represents players like Pablo Aimar, Humberto Suazo or Arturo Vidal.

In Chile he works with a counselor and counter, just to bring up a couple of examples, who provide services to players. He says that those footballers don’t have to pay him for that: he only earns a percentage of transactions between clubs.

Fernando always cares about his players’ image and the information that appears about them. You can see that just taking a look at his Twitter account: he uses it to inform about transfers, to correct incorrect news and to answer when someone has any doubts about one of the footballers he represents.

For the muppets amongst you, I've bolded the parts that may boost our hopes of bagging Vidal ;)
Perhaps particularly interesting, if true, that he only earns a percentage of transactions between clubs. Isla, Medel and Sanchez have already moved this window...
